57-[Haruka] of the ancient ruins

When I was ready and was about to go under the door to get to Haruka. Window flower was worried and sent me a communication.

'It's dangerous! Ryota-sama, please wait for a moment, I'll come to you all right away. We won't attack the facility.....

Is it because the original was the same artifact? Window flowers worry about me first. There's no doubt about that. But somehow, I could hear the sadness in her voice.

The actuality of the situation is that I was politely invited and I'm the only administrator, everyone else is in danger. Besides, [Haruka] is somehow similar to Window Flower and is hard to hate. In addition, the name can also be taken as [Haruka]. It's like a curse word, right? If listening to the report will reward [Haruka], I want to listen to it.''

There was some complaining from the window flowers about cowardice and cheating, but I was able to convince them. Then we entered the building. A light was lit and a series of arrows appeared on the floor that seemed to be the direction of travel.

Arrows............Stars, times, cultures, languages, all different. And yet, the intent of the symbols is understandable. |I'm not going to be able to say that I'm not going to be able to get my hands on it. If there are people in this world and on earth, the symbols may be the same.

I'm going to follow the arrows and use the stairs. There is also something that looks like an elevator, but it seems to be out of function. And finally, we reached the control room.

Inside the control room is a large desk and chair, and a holographic display. Finally, there is a transparent cylindrical container in the center. Inside it was filled with liquid, and a cherry-red octahedral crystal was floating on a cord tied to it.

'Welcome, Master, please have a seat.'

Follow the instructions and sit down in the chair. Then a hole in the desk and a clean glass filled with clean water rises up.

I don't feel like worrying about poisoning now, I drink normally and moisten my throat.

'Thank you, Haruka. For some reason the water feels sweet and delicious.

You're very welcome Master, so let me give you a status report.

The situation is shown on the holo-display and Haruka explains the situation. I know little about the situation, but I do know that this facility cannot be restored.

'That's all I have to report, Master, and I'm asking you to either remedy the situation or, if you can't, give me instructions on what to do with the remaining hours of operation...'

 For 4,000 years.
 You've done well....

Haruka, thank you for your hard work. As of this hour, you are relieved of your duties to maintain the facility. Your new duties are now announced. For the remainder of your time, do whatever you wish. It's all up to you, whatever you want. I will support Haluka's wishes if necessary.

"Is that what I want...? What kind of duties does that entail?

 Oh, I don't know.

The order to point out what Haruka herself wants to do?

You said the master was a thief. What can I do for you, sir? I desire to serve the residents, especially the Master.

'I came here in search of a self-driving car suitable for running in the wilderness. The rest of the time, my friends want to learn about mechanical technology, so I need to look into the equipment here. The only other thing I can do is get something of some value and turn it into money.

But I'm not going to be able to steal anymore. I've learned that Halka has been protecting it with great care.

"But I'm not going to force you to take it. I don't want you to think I'm in any way a threat to this place. And I don't think you're aware of it, but the desire to serve is probably something that humans have forcibly instilled in Haruka. It can't be said to be Harka's own desire.

We have just the right self-driving car for this facility. In terms of mechanical engineering I have permanent paperback books and teaching materials on rudimentary mechanics. There are also a few pieces of valuable equipment that are not required. I'll put them in the self-propelled car and take them around to the entrance.

''Um........Is this feeling forced upon you and not what I want?''

This reaction ... a slight possibility?

Yes. And humans have less operating time than thought crystals. So the inhabitants have already stopped operating and gone to sleep, never to return and impossible to serve. Take this as additional information, and once again, review what Haruka's own desires are based on her experiences and emotions.

I've given terrible and reckless orders to an intelligence that was created for humans. In some cases, there is nothing in [Haruka] that can be recognized as an emotion, and it might cause a self-destruction. But for some reason, I can't help but want to hear what I want.

A long, long, thousands of years. [Haruka] continued to carry out the orders of humans. And finally, it's about to finish its role....

Even if it's an object, [Haruka] is an existence with a will. And yet, it's too sad that there is no reward for this long-lasting work.

It may be selfish, but such an unsalvageable ending is too frustrating for me to bear. But Haruka might be suffering from the reckless orders.

Should I withdraw the order or........

Before concluding so, Haruka managed to mutter a hope, drawing an answer.

'Master, finally complete the report. And thank you for listening to my wishes. I will provide you with what you promised, but this facility is a precious reminder of me and the residents. I will break the ground of this facility and bury it deep underground to prevent bandits from raiding it.

This place belongs to Haruka. I nodded and urged him to continue, since it was his right to do so.

'This is my own desire to leave a living testament to me and the inhabitants...'

 Is that all you've got?
But I can say that's what Haruka wanted.

If there is only one thing that remains to be remembered, it is the world outside where the inhabitants departed. A beautiful world where nature would now have been restored and the people would have returned to prosperity. It is my hope to see that. I'm sorry, this is an impossible wish.

Oh! It's wishful thinking coming here!

'What I want. When I thought about it, I couldn't help but wish for it.

Haruka's hope that she could finally hear it. But let's just say there's no way to... d*mn it! You call me a question, but I can't do anything! Even though I finally got my mind at the last minute! You've given me hope!

 I almost screamed in disappointment.
