180 Episode 180: At the Adventurer's Guild Headquarters.txt

After descending the hill of the palace, we decided to take a break in the cafeteria facing the main street and discuss our future plans.

It's too early for lunch, so if you're going to order something, just have a snack.
I know. But still, as expected of King's Landing. I didn't know expensive food was so cheap in Green Hollow.
The distribution system is so well developed. There's a lot of tea and sugar in here.

As expected, or should I say, Garnett's order was a fruitcake with plenty of sugar and looked sweet.

I always say "I'm not particularly fond of sweets", but I guess my true intentions are as you can see.

On the other hand, I ordered a light meal of fried river fish sandwiched between bread and sweet orange juice, which is more like a normal meal compared to Garnett's.

''His Majesty won't return until three nights from now, so that leaves four days of free time, including today.
Yeah, I guess so. It's more than enough to get that thing we were talking about in the morning, so why don't we just relax once in a while?

Garnet looked at me over the table and chuckled.

Adventurer's Guild Headquarters. Sun Dial Chamber of Commerce Headquarters. The Mithril Processor's Association.

Even if I were to visit one of these places that I wanted to visit if possible, even if I were to visit one of these places per day, I would still have just one day's worth of time to spare.

I was expecting an overcrowded schedule, so I'm a little disappointed, but maybe Garnett was right here, and I should think of this place as a vacation that has fallen from grace.

Extending their stay schedule to coincide with His Majesty's return would be a reason that would certainly satisfy anyone in this country, no matter who they told.

''For now, I think I'll go to the guild headquarters after this.
Okay, but do you need something from headquarters?
'No, sight-seeing. I've been an adventurer for 15 years and I've never been there. I thought I'd take this opportunity to check it out.
'Haha! You're one of those people, aren't you? I thought you weren't interested in tourism or anything.

Garnett laughed, cutting out a piece of cake with his fork and bringing it to his mouth.

I thought about arguing with him, but thinking back, I've been spending a lot of time on work and whatnot lately, and haven't been in contact with much entertainment or sightseeing.

It's not surprising that Garnett has been watching me from up close and personal, so it's only natural for him to recognize that I have such values.

'I used to do this a lot when being an adventurer was my day job. I'd even go to a land for the first time on commission and not forget to tour the nearby landmarks before I left.
''Hmm. If that's the case, after the guild headquarters, I'll take you to some of the sights in the royal capital.
So let's hope for the best, shall we?

Garnett gave me a big smile instead of a reply.

After finishing our refreshments, this time we headed to the headquarters of the Adventurer's Guild, guided by Garnett.

As for the location, it is located near the center of the royal capital, and is a prime location in both name and reality.

It's a magnificent building that stands out among the buildings that you can look up at.

I'm sure the people around it are so busy that if you are not careful, you could be swallowed up by the flow of people.

I'm sure you'll be able to find a way to make the most of it.
You haven't even asked for it?
I'll have a servant go in to ask for help with the house. I personally requested ...... well, once or twice at the most, but I remember asking Abigail and others to process the request. It's the first time I've come here, in any case.
Yeah, ......, well, you're a young lady, aren't you?
Shut up!

When I was active as an adventurer, I often saw noblemen send their servants to complete the request process.

If you are not a nobleman, but the family of a knight commander, those kinds of chores will be done by servants, not family members.

Anyway, I ducked under the open front door and stepped into the building of the Adventurer's Guild headquarters.

The interior was as strikingly magnificent as the outside.

An entrance hall that could easily accommodate a normal two-story building.

In front of the building, there are nearly ten reception counters divided by purpose of visit, and adventurers dressed in a variety of outfits are lined up.

A large bulletin board covers the wall on both sides, and countless request forms fill it up, with many adventurers checking out requests as if they were competing with each other.

'Heh, it's a big deal. It makes me feel like there aren't many adventurers in Green Hollow.

Garnett is looking around the center of the hall with interest.

''After all, it's just the headquarters, is it bigger than the other branches?
'Yeah. Even the biggest chapter I've ever stopped at is probably half of this one at most.

As expected, I hadn't been as openly curious as Garnett, but I couldn't help but be surprised at how thriving the headquarters was, too.

I thought I had met many adventurers and had memorized quite a few faces and names, but compared to the total number of adventurers here, it was less than ten percent.

''Hm? I guess normal adventurers only get in until this hall.

Suddenly muttering that, what was in the corner of Garnet's eye was the 'No Entry Except for Guild Staff' sign posted on the passage leading to the back of the hall.

''It's not just the headquarters, but the branch as well, because besides accepting requests and paying rewards, there's a lot of behind-the-scenes work and organizational management work to be done as well.''
So the rest of the room is for that kind of work?
You can also rent restrooms, medical offices, and later meeting rooms. It's basically for guild members only.

The title of the Guild Book(-) Department(-) is not a decoration.

It is responsible for cooperation and information gathering with the various guild branches and guild houses, negotiations with the royal palace and nobles, executive level personnel, and management of funds held - this place is responsible for all the tasks that control the adventurer's guild.

Naturally, the space in which the people involved in these matters work has also become vast, which is why such a large building is needed.

It's not just the regular employees that are banned except for guild staff, by the way. It also includes those who are working temporarily as a contribution activity.
That's the service obligation Sakura had last time she was in the Green Hollow chapter.
'Yeah, yeah. For example, you see, the guy who just came out is also an ordinary adventurer, by the way he's dressed: ......

As we were talking about an example of an adventurer who came out at just the right time, the adventurer noticed our gaze and ran up to us with a nice smile for some reason.

He's a young man with a somewhat childish face, but he's not someone I'd recognize.

'Long time no see, Luke! It's good to see you looking well!
...... I hear you know someone who knows you?

 Garnett glances at me.
 But even so, the memory--.

'Ah! Is that you, Roy? ! Of the Hundred Beast Plain!

Roy of the Hundred Beast Plain - one of the A-ranked adventurers I once approached, and one who never came to Green Hollow after all.

His memorable appearance was more of a juvenile boy, but the claw marks of the demonic beasts left on his face hadn't changed at all since then.
