289 Episode 289: Going through the Dream City.txt

'It's unusually realistic for a mere dream ...... I knew this guy was trying to analyze the 'right eye' and this town ...... d*mn it, you don't think Garnett and the others would have gotten involved, do you?

I catch my breath in the high park overlooking the city and recover my condition to the point where I can finally get my body to move properly.

If, as I think, this situation was caused by Hild's magical attempt to analyze the 'right eye', then Garnett and Hild, who were unconscious together, could have been dragged into it.

''(Anyway, we have to set our priorities. First, we have to meet up with Garnett and the others. Maybe they're not here, but figuring out how to get out of ...... here is secondary to that.)

This was not a priority that was decided for emotional reasons.

Even though, fortunately or unfortunately, there is no sign of anything moving around us, there is no guarantee that there is no danger anywhere, and joining up with Garnett is essential for our survival.

And since Hild has knowledge of magic that me and Garnett don't have, maybe we can find a way out of here.

That's why joining up with the two of us is my top priority.

I'm not sure running around on my own to solve this problem is going to yield any good results.

'Garnett! You're not here, Garnett!

He runs around the uninhabited city, screaming.

This city is definitely a dreamscape. Perhaps I would wake up naturally without doing anything, but I couldn't surrender to easy optimism.

I was just about to run through the nooks and crannies of the well-kept alleyway when the voice I had been hoping for all along echoed through the deserted town.

'The white wolf! You're there!

A small figure comes running up to you at full speed.
I can immediately recognize who it is, regardless of the fog that hangs in the air.

I'm sure you'll be able to find out more about this in the future.

I'm sure you'll be able to find a way to make it work for you. I'm not sure what's going to happen to your body in this strange place.
You're the one who's lucky to be alive. Are you still here when you came around?
"Hild's guy was analyzing your 'right eye' when my vision suddenly got hazy and I lost consciousness. d*mn, you don't think he messed up, ...... I don't even want to think about it.

Garnett was alert and wary of his surroundings with a mixture of relief and bitterness.

'As far as I can see, there's nothing moving here. Not to mention the living things, the living(s), the living(s), the moving(s), and the moving(s).
Are they all having the same hallucinations or did they just get lost in a coma? ...... d*mn, Noir would have known what to expect, but I wouldn't have been any good at it.
Maybe it's just the spirit that got dragged in here. I'm not an expert on magic, so I'm just guessing.

If the true identity of this city is as I imagined, it's not surprising that there are other types of golems roaming around besides humans.

I can't even find that, and the fact that there aren't even stray cats or birds, let alone humans, means that it's probably a 'copycat that only reenacts the cityscape'.

''As I recall, I told you about the scene I saw when I got my 'right eye', didn't I?'''
'You ran into some strange guy claiming to be a dwarven god in a blank, white space and he told you to surrender your body or something, didn't he? Whether it's ...... no way, dude.
No way. It's hard to say what it is, but the feeling on my skin is very similar to that time.

There is no objectivity that can be presented as evidence.

It's just a subjective story, but I can't help but recall the strange skin sensation I had when I was there - the space where I almost lost my life in the battle against the Demon King Gandalf and obtained the Right Eye of Wisdom after a question and answer session with Alfazul.

I have to believe it if you say so. But if that's the case, you're in quite a bit of trouble.
'Let's find Hild anyway. That guy's magic was the catalyst, so maybe he'll know how to do something about it.
What if I don't know anything?
The time is right.

Garnett crossed his arms with a smile on his face and pondered for a while before suggesting a plan for the future search.

Let's go back to the place where I woke up. It's a pretty prominent building, maybe Hild might stop by. I'm sure there are a lot of strange things lying around, but...
Okay, let's go.

I accepted the suggestion and Garnett led us through the thin foggy town.

After a while, we arrived at the embankment of a bridge that had been built without a river.

A deep, artificially dug out ditch crossed the plateau, and a large bridge was built across it.

It was like a great waterway without water.
I looked under the bridge, but the fog was so thick that it was hard to see what was at the bottom.

There it is. Do you see that? It's a huge building straddling the bottom of a man-made cliff.
'It's true ...... what the hell are these structures for?'
Hey, man. I know it looks like a pathway down to the bottom of this deep ditch, but we'll get there anyway.

A vague outline and description of the garnet is not enough to understand it.

Anyway, I thought it would be best to see the actual thing, so I crossed the overpass and stepped into the ground level of the mysterious building.

The exterior of the building is a bit like a palace, but the interior is a large hall with a lot of noise. ......
It's just a lot of space to keep people waiting. Maybe the main body of the building is under the cliff.

Crossing the interior of the gorgeous building, we passed through a simple checkpoint gate where the guards would have originally been waiting without permission and descended a long staircase that led to the equivalent of the bottom of a cliff.

The destination was the bottom of an artificial valley that looked just like a dried up canal, and this one too had a hall-like structure with a high ceiling throughout.

The biggest feature that wasn't there above. The biggest feature that was not present on the top was the number of long, shallow trenches dug in parallel on the floor and the bottom of these trenches were covered with what looked like wide rails.

These are rails, aren't they? It's the guy who runs the trolley in the mine or something. Why is it in this town?
And it's huge and made of metal. And I heard they wanted to run it all the way down with this thing: ...... It's a bad joke.

Garnett points with his chin to the back of the track (rail).

Sitting there was a huge metal structure.
More than ten cars that looked like carriage carriages many times larger were connected vertically, and at the head of them was a series of huge objects that could only be seen as a complex mass of intricate machinery.
