74-74. Walking in the city of death

The undead are generally vulnerable to the "holy" attribute.
It is not limited to a specific other world, but is a common source (rule) in all dimensions and universes.

The holy attribute may have different names, such as "holy attribute" or "sacred attribute," depending on the different worlds, or it may be incorporated into the light attribute, an attribute related to spirits.
But the fact that the undead are weak to the holy attribute will never change. The reason why the dead spirits exposed to the sun's light were annihilated when their wards were broken by the destruction of the neu-nyan is because the sun itself has the holy attribute built into it.
By the way, the living dead are only operating on negative soul energy, so they may be slowed down by the sun's light, but they won't be annihilated.

When asked why the undead are vulnerable to holy attributes, the only answer is that it is predetermined by the Cosmic Compositional Principle (Origin Rule). That's how obvious and irreversible this rule is. The undead who deviate from the Origin Rule through cheat abilities and other means are already something else that can't be called undead.

Now, the holy attribute is troublingly very much associated with God. The holy light emitted by Priests who serve God has the effect of repelling the undead, and most of the magic of the Holy Attribute belongs to faith-based magic as well.
So the only thing I can handle as a rebel against a f*cking god is a small percentage of holy attribute magic that even a sorcerer can use.
It's not a good idea to have a good time, but it's a good idea to have a good time.

I'm not a fan of magic, but rather the items I have on hand.
The holy silver rifle is especially useful, as I explained earlier.
If you are dealing with small fish, you can use the Holy Sword or Magic Sword without using the Holy Nail, but if there are many enemies, the Holy Silver Gun is more useful.

Next is the Holy Cross chain that captured Neunyan.
It's an item borrowed without permission from an AUG artifact, and it's really powerful. The higher the target's immortality, the more powerful it is, and the more powerful it is against big game like the neu-nyan.

I've collected as much equipment for use against the undead as I have dragon-slaying weapons, so I'm a bit confident in my repertoire, even if not in strength.

''Nii-cha!''

Oh, Stella is calling me with a panicked look.
I ran over to see what was going on.

''Oops, yikes!

The boy I was protecting in my ward is about to disappear under the sun's rays.
I hurriedly re-set the holy attribute blocking effect of the warding to 100%.

''This would have been out if I had been directly exposed to it without a ward.

When I sprinkled the evil water from the item box, which was full of a certain great evil god's blessing, the boy immediately felt fine.
I'm not sure if I can call it "cheerful" or not.

''But this, if this boy's mother was also ghosted outdoors, would he be out...?

A bad sweat runs down my face at the reality that I would have been happier not noticing.
It would be too late to re-establish the city's wards now, and I'd have to bet on the possibility of finding the bodies or surviving.
For now, it's too inconvenient to carry the boys around, so I re-set the area of the ward that was protecting them both to the entire city. It looks like we'll have to walk through the undead heaven for a while longer.

''However, it's too much of a hassle to lick the streets of a city where moving corpses are wandering around...''
Hey, guys.

Perhaps hearing my mutterings, Stella pointed to a building.

''Ah, I see. It's certainly the most likely to have survivors.''

It is a building that seems to be a temple, with a sun emblem around the top of a large, tightly closed door.
It's probably the temple of the sun god of this other world.

I'm sure you've heard Neunyan say something like that too. It's worth a try.

Stella led us to the Temple of the Sun God.

The construction of the Temple of the Sun is masonry, showing a solidity that has nothing to do with its grandiose atmosphere. It has survived without being jumped by fire from the surrounding fires, so perhaps it is under fire prevention magic.

''Well then, take care of this girl.''
Yes, nee-chan!

As expected, there's no way I can get close to the temple where the ghosts have been sanctified, so I'll have her and Stella stay inside the small ward.
The gate of the Sun Temple was tightly closed from the inside, but I knocked on it before smashing it down, and there was a response.

''Who are you!
Let me in. There's zombies everywhere out there!

When I appealed to him with my acting and desperation, he surprisingly let me in without a hitch.
Well, it's no surprise that the undead don't come to the Sun Temple.

''Oh, you're........not a subject, are you? What are you?

There were several residents inside who were shivering and shrinking, but the one who spoke to me was a woman wearing a monk's uniform.
Judging from the shape of the holy seal around her neck, she was probably a priest of the sun god or something.
I remember getting stuck on the phrase "subject" as a goddess officer, but I said my name as I had thought of it beforehand.

'I'm a wandering traveler who happened to be passing by. His name is Sakahagi.
'I see. I'm sorry to hear that at this time...

I appreciate the concern, but all I can do is chuckle when they pray for me here.

'I honestly have no idea what's going on. Can you tell me what's going on?
'I'm sorry, but we don't really know that much about the situation either,'

According to the priestess, the sky became so dim that the sun's light could no longer reach them, and a large number of ghosts appeared and began to attack people.
Furthermore, the people killed by the ghosts had turned into zombies and eaten people to death, and after the devoured people began to move, it was said that they had done their best to evacuate some people to the Sun Temple.
The knights in the capital and the priest warriors here also fought, but they were killed by the powerful undead, and they are at a loss for help from their surroundings.

In short, the strongest of the human side have been killed by the neu-nya across the board.
Well, there's no way a mere human can beat the No Life King.

''What was in the basement?''

The fact that a light came out of the central plaza would mean that there was something roughly right below, though.

''Well........there are legends that there was a huge tomb, or that the evil god of destruction is sealed in there, but I'm raising eyebrows. If it was in the library, there might be records of it, but.......

I'm sure the source of all the evil is underground, but let's not get into that.
I defeated the last boss-like person first, and I need to find the mother first.

I need to know if any of these women are missing their children.

I called out to the people in the temple, but apparently no one else in the temple responded.
If that's the case, I have no more business here.

''You've disturbed me.

I turned on my heel and the goddess officer stopped me in a hurry.

''Where are you going, sir!
I'm looking for someone. I'm sorry about the mess.
Oh no, it's not safe! Didn't you run away from the zombies in the first place?
Running away? Just kidding. Those noloids are nothing but targets.

Shaking off the restraints, I told him to close the gate and stepped out into the city of death again.
I couldn't help but let out a sigh when I saw the city burning brightly.

''I guess I'll have to be prepared for the corpses to be burnt out...''

I feel sorry for that girl, but I might have to think about how to make a proxy pledge soon.

'Nee-cha, there, there,'

Since I don't have an ate anymore, I have no choice but to follow Stella-chan's guidance and walk.
However, I'm not sure if she's using some kind of ability, but there were female zombies everywhere Stella-chan went.
After letting the boy finish his visit with the prospective mother and making sure she didn't react, he shot her in the head with his holy silver gun.
This was when the process continued for a while.

''Ta, help me!''

I looked at the one who heard the screams such as, "I'm sorry, but I'm a middle-aged man who is being chased by a bunch of zombies right now.
Apparently, the will of the stars in this world favors goofy developments.

''Lightwing Sprint.''

I'm not going to be able to get my hands on any of them, but I'll be able to get my hands on some of them.
I'm not sure if this is a good idea or not, but I'm sure it's a good idea.

This fighting style isn't really my cup of tea, it's just my way of imitating the player character's stylish battle combo from St. Silver's wielding gun.
When I first saw it, I thought it was just a joke, but the tactic of unilaterally attacking from an elevated position, out of the reach of the enemy's attacks, makes surprisingly good sense.
It's hard to aim from an unstable position, but it's not so hard that you can't do it. Once you get used to it, it's rather easy to aim at an unprotected head.

That's why, without getting down on the ground, as I repeatedly fired precision shots while making acrobatic movements in the air, the zombies were destroyed without any way to do so.
Of course, the female zombie, who could be the boy's mother, is left behind.

Are you hurt?

I call out to the middle-aged man who was standing there stunned by the scene that unfolded in front of me.

'Ta, that's a relief. Thank you!
What, it's a wayward wretch?

If you look at it, you'll see that Stella has learned the routine work she's been doing, and she and the boy head towards the female zombies.
The female zombie sees the children and tries to attack them, but she easily calms down when Stella-chan yells at her, "Meh.
I have no idea what the logic is, but Stella-chan is amazing.

A middle-aged man caught my gaze and was surprised to see a boy.

"Well, is that kid by any chance an Eryk?

And I didn't expect to know him.
As expected of a starry-eyed master of fate.
........or is it, by any chance, thanks to Stella-chan? But even with an appraising eye, Stella doesn't seem to be wearing out her soul.

''She's kind of glowing, but........''

The middle-aged man twisted his head to look at the pale, glowing boy, Eryk.

'Caught in the rubble. Ghosts as you can see.
Oh no, you poor thing.

A middle-aged man prayed to Eryk.
He throws a question at the scene, feeling inexplicably strange.

'I'm looking for this boy's mother. Have you heard of her?
'Yeah, Sheila would have been a librarian at the Royal Library but I don't know if she's still alive.

The library? Is this the place the priest mentioned?
I mean, I'm going to end up going to the library. It's kind of like playing a one-track game.
However, I've already confirmed that this isn't a game-imitating alternate universe by not being able to use console commands...

 ........well....
I'll have to check a few things.

Where were you just now, by the way?
To tell the truth, I was an employee of the Adventurer's Guild, despite my appearance.

Oh, I see, I was inside the building when the warding was broken...
So maybe there's hope for the mother who says she was in the library.

'But the zombies got in............................please, get me to safety!

 A safe place, you know.
A safe place for this man to be.

Okay. I'll give you this amulet, then. Avoid the undead.
Oh, thank God!

The man who received it trembled with joy.

Oh, how I feel as if I were in heaven. Oh, God. Thank you, thank you.....

A middle-aged man who was emitting a blue (...) white (...) light (...) gave thanks with large tears.
Then he disappeared into the light.
With a pop, he silently picks up the protective amulet that fell to the ground.

''Nii-cha........''

 Stella makes a sad sound.
Eryk also looked curiously at the ground where the man had disappeared.

'This is fine,'

After patting Stella and Eryk's head, I lowered my eyes.
After finishing praying for the man who gave us the valuable information, we started walking again.

We walked to the Royal Library.
