539 Episode 0539

The soft light that comes in through the window descends on Ray's sleeping face, and the glare turns him over on the bed.
The dislike of direct sunlight is not of the person who is called crimson and is feared.
Adequate to one's age... to be exact, there was an innocence appropriate to one's age.

"Well... well..."

After turning over, the sun shines through the window on the back of his head, not on his face, and then Ray's eyes open, perhaps because he didn't like it.

"Ah..."

 a familiar or unfamiliar room
Ray's half asleep looking around suddenly wakes up and eventually realizes where he is.

"Now that you mention it, you're back in Gilmoo."

Not in the Golden Pavilion in Egjil, or in the Magic Tent used in the field.
I feel a sense of relief when I see my room where I have been staying for more than a year.
The soft summer morning sun is pouring out of the window, but many people are probably already starting to move outside. We could sense the presence of many people walking down the corridor.

"Well... what shall I do today?" I can't leave Gillum carelessly until Mr. Dusker decides what to do about the Vestian Empire."

In his mind, Ray was worried about the large-scale bandits, but he understood that there was no way he could spare the guillem in the current situation.
Some Daskers have been told to weigh themselves.

"Thief's treasures are all very delicious." Well, that's all right. If I eat breakfast, I'll go out for a walk with Seto."

muttered, stretched out again, dressed up, and headed to the dining-room on the ground floor.

"Here, Seto. It's yours."
"Grull".

Just finished breakfast, I put the skewers I bought at the stall into Seto's mouth.
Make sure to close the kuchibashi firmly and pull out the skewers.
Then, of course, all the meat on the skewer goes into Seto's mouth, and only the empty skewer is taken out.

"Glu? Glu, Glu, Glu, Glu, Glu, Glu, Glu, Glu, Glu.

The meat I ate must have been delicious. With a small smile, Ray offers another skewer to Seto, who cries for more.

"You ate that much last night, but you still have a good appetite?"
"Grull!"

Of course, I'm going to give you a quick voice.
Without thinking about it, he smiles a little and continues down the aisle without any particular destination, patting his head gently.
Even on the way, stalls, stalls, shopkeepers, passersby, working children, adventurers, and others smiled, fed, or stroked at the set. Many people watch it from afar with a small smile on their faces like that.

"Well, this city is no different."

That's what Ray says when he sees a 10-year-old frolicking around Sett.
Seto was well received in Egjil, but since he has spent more than a year in Gilm, few people in this city have rejected Seto.

(Well...)

Seeing Seto on the edge of his vision, he sees a merchant-like partner who is dumbfounded and smiles bitterly.
Perhaps Ray came to Gilm after he left for Egzil. The Gryphon wandered about the city calmly, and the people around it were not afraid of it... and they were looking at it with great delight.
A neighbor is explaining Seto to a merchant who has stopped working, seeing a scene that is almost impossible by his own common sense.
It is probably because of the remote guillem that we can communicate like that naturally.
Even in the labyrinthine city of Egzil, this may have happened a little more time later.
the frontier guillem, the labyrinthine city of Egjil The common denominator between the two is that there are many adventurers.

(It's still comfortable for me, though.) It seems that the imperial capital of the Vestian Empire is allowed to enter and exit, but I do not think there is such a comfortable atmosphere here... or, as long as I am myself before that, it is certain that trouble will arise."

As you walk with that thought in mind, you'll soon see the guild building.
After thinking about it for a few seconds, Ray comes up with an idea to look for any requests that can be made in the city, which can be completed in a day or so as to kill time.

"Well, there's nothing particular to be done today, anyway. Seto, I'm going to the guild, so please wait a minute."
"Gruly!"

"All right," cried Seto, heading into the magical space with the children running around him.
They saw him off, and the adventurer who came out of the guild saw him and walked into the guild, watching him approach him.

The guild is quiet, perhaps because it's past the busy hour.
Still, there were some adventurers in the bar attached to the guild, eating a little late breakfast...or a little early lunch.
Some people probably hated the heat. Some people are drinking and making merry even though it's only morning.
Watching his opponent like that, Ray approaches the request board and looks through the Rank F request form.
If you are a Ray of Rank B, you can naturally receive a request for Rank A. Of course, however, high-ranking requests are difficult or dangerous substances with a few exceptions.
For extermination of high rank monsters, collection of rare materials, and protection of places where thieves are said to be common.
We can't afford to receive such high-ranking requests, as we have to leave Gilm for the village of Goto, which joins Vihela and Theorem within a few days.
Ray was looking for a request he could make as if he were killing time, but he stopped in front of a certain request.
 Rank C.
The reason why it is a relatively high-ranking request is because it is the aristocracy that is being requested.
The request is for combat training for the client's son, whose name is Muet Cisne.
a familiar request and client's name
The image of a 10-year-old child and an ice bird passed through my mind.
Yes, it was the same request Ray received when he was promoted to Rank C.

"…I miss it again." No, it hasn't been a year yet."

muttering, reaching for the request... just as Ray's hand tried to reach it. From right beside him, he reaches out quickly and takes the request with him a moment earlier than Ray can touch it.

"I'm sorry, but it's decided that these things are first come first."

Was it a woman of about twenty who was older than Ray? Clearly a warrior in leather armour to cope with both heat and mobility.
Given that Ray has never seen him in more than a year, he's probably a newcomer who came in his absence.
Ray, however, is basically averse to crowds and often doesn't go to the guild during busy adventures.
If you think about it, there was a possibility that Ray didn't know...
Still, there was no doubt that one out of every three men who seemed to be part of the party where the female warriors were running away were newcomers.
After all, Gillum stole the request from Ray, who is said to be something that should not be touched in a way.
An adventurer based here would never have done it.
One of the three men suddenly turns to Ray in an attempt to receive a request from the woman.
At that moment, the man's movement stops and he sweats so much that he can see it from his forehead.
The only person who has been in the party since coming to Gilm and has been in Gilm for several years.
This made him aware of Ray's face and therefore decided that his actions might have provoked Ray's anger.

"Hey, what's wrong with you? I'm sweating like that all of a sudden. It's summer, indeed, and it's hot, but the amount of sweat is abnormal."

The woman who brought the request asks the man who never receives it from her hand.

"... Hey, man. Isn't there anything strange about the guild?"
"What? Really?"a woman who looks around at one of the men's words with a written request in her hand
The woman shakes her head without feeling strange about the surrounding air, perhaps dull to the eyes of that hand.
Or if this time of year was a time when more adventurers gathered in the guild, women would have noticed something unusual.
Was it fortunate or unfortunate for a woman to have so few adventurers around her?
Eventually, the man who was about to receive the request takes an awkward step.
It's not for women, though. It's towards Ray in front of the request board.

"Hey, wait a minute? What's the matter?"

The man standing in front of Ray bowed deeply, without the slightest hint of hearing such a voice coming from behind him.

"I'm sorry, they've just come to Gilm. Will you forgive me this time?"

The man's party members, not Ray... were the ones most surprised by the way he bowed deeply.
For this party member, the man now bowing in front of Ray was a very reliable member of the Guillum.
Although he had just joined the party and was not an official leader, he still showed his presence as a leading figure.
Such a person bowed deeply to a child in his mid-teens who didn't seem to be doing much physical training. It would be impossible not to be surprised.
 But...

"...Put your head up first of course.

As a bowed Ray, I'm at a loss what to do.
It's true that I got a little angry when I was forced to take my request, but it's not the case that the woman actually said it was first come first served.
It was not unusual for an adventurer, though it was somewhat rude.
I knew I was feared by adventurers, but it was still unexpected.
Ray's words gently raise his head.

"Will you forgive me?"
"I'm not that angry," However, there are many short‐tempered adventurers here. If you don't think about it and do anything like that, you'll have a hard time."

The man nods softly to Ray, who mutters completely about himself on the shelf.

"I'm sorry, I'll tell them exactly,"

Finally, Ray breathes a small sigh as he sees the man off again.
I don't feel like accepting a request because of this incident, so I go straight to the bar.
If you go out of the guild right now, there are definitely many residents and adventurers who love Seto.

(I'm scared and Sett is adored.) ...isn't it usually the other way around?)

the Rank A monsters and adventurers Usually, it's monsters who are more frightened.

(Well, considering Seto's friendliness, it's no wonder.)

That's how I thought about it, and for the time being, I ordered something that I could eat lightly in the bar in order to crush it for about an hour.

The man, who had bowed to Ray earlier, breathes a sigh of relief when he sees Ray heading from where the request board is located to the bar.
The woman who timidly called out to him on his back was a woman who ripped off the request she was trying to get.
It seems that he understood that Ray is dangerous in many ways after seeing the current conversation.

"Come on, boy. Is that the child of today...?"

In response to such a woman's question, the man gasps deeply and opens his mouth.

"... you know, that child... no, the adventurer is Ray." Rank C, nicknamed crimson in the Spring War... No, it was Rank B. He's a high-ranking adventurer anyway."
"...what?"

a woman who asks in one voice that she doesn't understand what has been said
The other members who were listening similarly also open their eyes wide.

"What's crimson... is it?"
"I heard you had a Gryphon with you?"
"...such a child,"

Was it unfortunate for this party that he was in the guild before Ray?
If I had come to the guild after Ray, I could naturally see the guild's demons and the cab stand-by, and the people who cared.

"...remember if you're going to live in guillem, too." There are some high-ranking adventurers here, but that crimson is basically not patient. Rumor has it that he killed even his ally's nobles easily in the spring war. And if you think that he is innocent, you can see how strange he is."

The party members who listened to the man's story were breathtaking.

After spending about an hour in the bar, Ray went out of the guild...

"Seto-chan, seto-chan, seto-chan, seto-chan.

Like last night, there was a mire dog around Seto's neck.
