1419 fourteenth and nineteenth episodes

Having been to the lord's house many times, Seto, already accustomed, breaks up with the Lays and heads for the garden.
And the Rays were led to their office by a maid serving Dusker.

"There are a lot of people here, too."

The number of people walking down the hall is very different than when Ray came before.

(Probably there are other merchants in the building, not too many people in it, but when they come out, they will be replaced.)

As she walks down the corridor looking around for some reason, the maid turns to Ray and opens her mouth with a smile.

"Now, merchants come every day. That's the kind of merchants who have never heard of their names in Gilmoo, and on the contrary, they've heard of their names."
"I suppose,"

With such a large group of people, it was only natural that people, from large businesses to individual businessmen, were coming.

(Even so, I guess they were not chosen to do the extension work...)

Some merchants were opening their eyes in amazement at Ray's thinking like that.
Marina and Vichela were the only ones who were attracting attention, though Seto would be able to look at her.
Ray and his child Bune, both wearing dragon robes hoods, are eye-catching, but... they don't attract that much attention.

(Well, given their appearance, it's only natural.)

A person wearing a light coat that looks like a prostitute or dancer in a dark elf that is not so numerous even in a guillem where many people gather.
What's more, she could not help but draw attention to both of them because they were beautiful women who could see them once in a lifetime.
Marina and Vihela don't seem particularly concerned, though, as that's the norm.
The maid who is guiding Ray and others is a little surprised to see them and shows them to their office with admiration.
Some merchants tried to speak to Marina and Vihela, but all of them couldn't speak to them because of the atmosphere of their voices.
and they arrived at Dusker's office without being approached by anyone."

"Don't be silly! Do you really think such a plan will be accepted?"

As soon as the maid reached out to knock on the door that was worthy of being described as a work of art, she heard a shout from inside the office.

(Something's happened.

Ray, Marina and Vihela exchange that kind of look.
Buehne looked at the door in silence without changing his expression.
And within ten seconds of hearing the rant, a man in his mid-20s came out of his office.
If anything, it's right to describe them as fleeing.
Open the door violently and run away in front of the laymen.
The scene was so desperate that if I stayed quietly in the office, I would have been killed... even that thought came to my face.
The maid, however, did not seem to notice the man at all, and called out to her office.

"Excuse me, sir," I've brought them here."
"... oh, come in,"

Hearing the voice, the maid sends Ray and his men into the office.
When Ray and his men entered the office, they saw Dusker with sullen expressions on his face.
There's no doubt that the cause of the displeasure has something to do with the rant we've just heard.

(I thought the people here were discerning merchants... some of them say things that might offend others even if they were discerning.) ...it's only natural if you think about it.)

Watching Dusker's appearance, Ray thinks so, being careful not to show his face.

"Mr. Dusker, I have heard that you are calling me in the guild?"
"Oh, yes," ... just sit down. I can't even talk if I stand up. Hey, I'll pick a dish for you."
"Yes,"

The maid bowed to Dusker's words and left the room.
Dusker then moves from his office desk, which is full of papers, to a sofa for visitors.

"You were quite angry, weren't you?"

Marina asks Dasker, as everyone sits on the sofa.
Dusker's men wouldn't be willing to speak to him as angry as they are now.
But to Marina, Dusker is like a tricky younger brother.
Or maybe a childhood friend I used to play with when I was little.
That's why the stern-faced Dusker can speak to him so easily, even if he looks displeased.
Dusker doesn't get particularly angry at Marina's appearance, but still speaks grumpily.

"Oh, I've been suggesting that the quality of the materials used for the extension be reduced by one... or two."
"...that's mad,"

If this wasn't a frontier, the proposal could have been considered.
Of course, even in ordinary villages and towns, you don't have to cut corners on materials when building extensions.
Because there are monsters, not as many as around Gilm, and above all, people, not monsters...It's because you're not allowed to break into that area to prepare for the kind of thieves.
Under these circumstances, Gilm naturally paid great attention to the quality of the materials used when building extensions.
Nevertheless, the merchant who had just rushed out of this office did not seem to mind it at all and suggested that the quality of the materials be degraded.
Not very much, but it could not have been tolerated by Dusker... and the result was the angry voices they heard.

"Well, I don't know," The materials used for this extension are first‐class products... and they are also of the highest quality among first‐class products. It's of such quality that it's rarely used in the royal capital, I wouldn't be surprised if merchants noticed it."
"I've got the materials ready for it, because I need them." ...if you pull out your hand badly here, that's what we'll see later. And..."

The dusker told me so far, but a knock echoed through the room.
When Dusker orders in, the maid and a few others bring a few cups of tea and sandwiches.
Sandwich is fresh from the oven, with the smell of fresh meat coming out of some ingredients.
Basically, sandwiches are eaten cold, and the bread is sandwiched between the ingredients and let it calm down for a while...It's normal to mature.
But the sandwiches on the table right now are warm sandwiches with fresh food between them.
It's a sandwich made to eat fresh from the oven.
It tastes good, but when the ingredients cool down, it tastes bad... in other words, it's a sandwich with a short duration.
The maids leave and Dusker tells them to eat first, and Ray and Bune reach for the sandwich.
A little late, Marina, Vihela and Dasker also reached for the sandwich.
What Ray picked up was baking some meat and then putting it in bread with vegetables... a dish worthy of a steak sandwich.
Each sandwich is bite-sized under Dusker's directions to pick the easiest.
Dusker reopens as he eats such a sandwich.

"Well, let's face it. I called you guys... exactly because I wanted to ask you for a job."

A change of pace after eating sandwiches may have calmed you down to some extent.
Dasker pauses and opens his mouth to the resentment he'

"To me?"
"Oh, ... it would have been only Ray who called me ... well, I expected the marinas to come with me."

For a moment, she turns her gaze to Marina, who just smiles a glamorous smile.
He seems to want to say that it is only natural for him to come here.
Vihela had the same smile as Marina, and Bune was absorbed in eating sandwiches.
Looking at the faces of the red lotus wings, Dusker breathes out a resigned sigh and opens his mouth.

"Actually, the reason why I called Ray was related to the recent seizure of materials."
"Oh, you know,"

the recapture of materials stolen by robbers--someone's private army--and the securing of criminals.
Other than that, the amount of material stolen was larger than that carried by Bistol, a merchant of strong individuality who had asked Ray.
The material is sold through the guild to guillem... exactly to Dusker, because it doesn't make any sense to Ray after all.
As Dusker said earlier, all the materials used in this extension are first-class.
That's why Ray is definitely going to pay a lot of money when he gets paid for the extension."Yes, the Reys have brought almost everyone captive. The interrogation was easy."

Ray doesn't know what kind of interrogation was conducted there.
However, it is possible to predict that many of those questioned will be in dire straits.

(I don't think I'll be treated so badly if I give you information easily.)

The area has nothing to do with the captive laymen, and above all, they are not interested.
No, I'm interested in the information from the prisoners.

"And who did you end up with? It was a rather large business that could have that many private armies... I think only the nobility."
"He's a nobleman,"

Marina distorts her expression with displeasure at the simple words.
I said it was a big business, but I guess it was pretty much predictable in the marina.

"Yes, I wonder if the royalists are in a hurry, too.
"No,"

At Marina's words, Dusker immediately shook his head.

"What? No... Then, by any chance."
"Oh, it's the aristocracy that's pulling the strings behind this case."
"...Really? Isn't that how prisoners manipulate information?"

Maybe it's an attempt to run up neutrals and aristocrats and consume military power, funds, and supplies.
As Marina tells him so, Dusker shakes her head again.

"No, of course I was suspicious about it." But one by one, I questioned everyone differently. and if we could all answer without contradiction... I think we could have worked in a better place without private armies."
"Yes, but what did you think of doing that?" To be honest, I don't understand at all... but it just looks like a suicide bomb."
"I agree, but it is not unusual for some aristocrats to have no control over their emotions through reason. There's a possibility of such a rebound."

The remark was convincing to Ray.
No, it's probably because Ray has seen such aristocrats many times before.

"I see. I understand what you mean, but ... what do you want me to do?"
"Asking for retribute.
"...what? Is that all right?"

Clear evidence is secured in the form of prisoners of war.
But still, it's a different faction from the neutral Dasker... than the neutral faction, and it's a faction that is now trying to establish friendly relations.
Also, for Ray, the aristocracy is a faction to which Elena belongs, so it's not a matter of others.
But when Ray asks such a question, Dusker easily nods back.

"I don't care. I'll tell you who you should retaliate against, if you will. I'll leave the way Ray likes to do it, but I want him to try not to kill anyone as much as possible, regardless of the injuries."
"There are dead men among the merchants who have been attacked, but are you sure?"
"Still,"

Ray doesn't believe in the beauty of equality.
Even so, it's no fun to be so proud.
I'm sure Dusker could have imagined Ray's appearance. carry on one's words with a masculine smile

"What I'm trying to say is that no one should die. Conversely, you can do anything else. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . "

When Dasker says so, Ray nods back with an expression of satisfaction and a bad smile.
By this point Ray had already decided to take Dusker's request.
