"Well, if you're going to watch, is there any point in my going?"

muttered Ray as he headed to his destination.
This time, we need to keep it as inconspicuous as possible, so there's no such thing as Seto on Ray's side.
Instead, there were three guards and Grange.
Grange is here, however, to make sure that his base is where he was ordering Akafu.
I had heard about most of the places before, and many of the guards in the city knew where they were.
But, perhaps... really, maybe, but there's a possibility that the place Grange says is different from the place others know.
That being the case, it was only natural to bring Grange here just in case.
But Ray was wondering why he was with me, and so he muttered.

"You can say that. Ray, you should know where they are over there, right? Even though you know most of the locations in Grange's words, you're not sure that's where they are, and you should look at them together."

In Ray's murmur, one of the guards says so.
In fact, the words were correct, so Ray nods back to such guards.

"It's good that you don't know where you're right, but ... and when do you think they're going to stick out their tails?"
"Well... I can't help it unless I know how often they come to the base. Besides, it's this season, so the watchmen are having a hard time."

Everyone, including Grange, agrees with what the guards say.
It's not snowing now, but it doesn't change that it's winter now.
The wind is cold as we walk, and the sky is covered with clouds today.

(I think it's better to have a meat bun and a hot cup of tea than anpan and milk... ...but I think freshly steamed meat buns and freshly brewed tea will soon get cold just because of the cold weather.

Ray thinks that way, but he sees a stall selling meat buns at the right time.
Chinese buns, including meat buns, are only steamed when they are prepared for preparation.
Even at a stall, it was something that could be cooked well.
...but what surprised Ray a little when he saw the stall was that it also used a steamer to make soup.
Of course, there is not enough firepower to make soup normally, so there may be a lot of problems... but it was surprising for Ray to put a pot on top of the steamer and cook it with that heat.
When I was in Japan, I saw something like a special feature on a street stall on a TV program.

(You think the same thing in every world.)

That's the idea, and I'm convinced.

"Ray, what's the matter?"

One of the guards asks Ray, staring toward the stall.
At that remark, Ray opens his mouth, looking toward the stall.

"I thought I'd better buy something warm like that if I were to go on a stakeout in this cold weather."
"... I understand how it feels."

The reason why the guard muttered in a whisper was probably because he had been posting on business so many times.
Winter overhangs are particularly noticeable in that they withstand the cold.
It would be nice if you could rent a room with some sort of empty house or residents, but if you can't do that, you need to do a stakeout outside.

(If it were a kind of car, it might be possible to block the wind in it... a carriage? No, a carriage is a little too conspicuous.)

Unlike Japan, horse-drawn carts are quite expensive things in this world.
I wouldn't say that it's a foreign car in Japan, but it's as valuable as a luxury car.
What is different from Japan, however, is that a carriage is completely practical.
...and of course, the scarcity varies from carriage to carriage.
In any case, a horse-drawn carriage with a tightly sealed body would naturally stand out.
As a result, if you can't do that, you may have to do the work of keeping watch over your base in the cold air in the worst case scenario.
I would be very grateful if there was something hot to eat or drink at that time... ...though given the current temperature when it could snow, I didn't think it would last that long.

"What should I do? Should I buy it?"

Ray's words seem to have moved the guard a little, but he eventually shakes his head and refuses.
I really wanted to buy a security guard, but considering where I was going, I guess they understood the possibility that if they were to travel carelessly with the smell of food, there would be a lot of bad things.
Perhaps Ray understands the guard's idea, but instead of saying he's going to stop at the stall, he moves with the rest of the crowd, including Grange.
The only thing I've ever had in my walk was that... from a security guard's point of view, Grange is not a very trustworthy opponent, and Grange has never had a good impression of the security guard in his career.
If Ray had mediated between the two sides, they might have been able to compromise, but Ray had never noticed it because he was concentrating on checking the surroundings.
 and walked on in silence...

"Oh, you see it. It's over there."

Grange opens his mouth and everyone looks at him.

"That's it, after all.

One of the guards muttered when he saw the building.
Other guards nodded to the remark.
We had been told before, but it must have been the place we had in mind.
Ray has been around here a few times, so now that you've told me... I'm convinced.
After looking at the building for nearly a few seconds, Ray opens his mouth.

"So what are you going to do now? Find a place to watch?"

The base building is not that big, but it's still a house.
Perhaps some years have passed since it was built, but the fact that even such a house can be obtained as a disposable base indicates that those who gave instructions to red cloth are well-funded.

(Only the red cloths might have wondered why they spend so much money on it... ...but given the case of the Covolts, it's certain that they're not just a group to harass Gillum. If that's the case, it's not surprising that they have some financial resources.)

The Cobold case completely deviates from the practice of harassment against Gillum.
If he were caught as the ringleader, he could have been executed without any questions or answers.
Having taken such a risk, there could be something more sinister behind it, whether it's ostensibly harassment.
That's probably why the guards listened to Ray and Grange and immediately sent them out.

"Well, we'll walk around for a moment. ... Ray, wait with him out of sight of that building. If he finds it, he'll be in trouble."
"Is that so? ... well, why don't you leave Grange alone?"

Since Grange was originally employed by the people who moved the red cloth, we can't leave him alone.
If Ray takes his eyes off him, he can run away as soon as soon as possible.

"Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah

Grange says with a dry smile, perhaps remembering the time when he was easily found hiding at the site.
For Grange, it was safe to say that he was good at covert behavior.
However, it was only natural to lose confidence that it was so easily discovered.
I didn't know what had happened from the look of Grange, but I guess I could still understand what had happened.
Some guards cast sympathetic glances at Grange.
Outside of Gilm, I know he's definitely guilty, and that's why I didn't like him very much... but when I look at what's going on, the guards probably think a lot of things about him.

"Ah... well, I can't stay like this forever, and I think it's about time to move on."

A guard says so in a misleading atmosphere.
When I hear that, I nod without concealing my expression of relief to the other guards.
You must have felt uncomfortable being here in this situation.
The guards left and only Ray and Grange remained there.Well, what should we do?
Ray looks at Grange like that, but he looks at him asking him to do as he pleases.
Whatever I say here, I probably thought I'd just get a strange idea.

Ray opens his mouth, wondering if he's read the atmosphere or if he's determined that just staying here is enough to make him suspicious.

"Do you want to go a little further?"
"Yes, let's. If you find me here, you'll be in trouble."

Grande's words make Ray look a little unexpected expression.
From what I heard, it seemed as if I had no intention of running away.
...however, now that Ray and the guards have memorized his face completely, whether he can escape and live in peace, the answer is no.
At least we wouldn't be able to do such a thing in this place called Gilm.

(Oh, but the mud wall that is preventing Cobold is about 150 cm from Gilm's side, and isn't it difficult to get over it? ... Well, it's more likely that monsters will gather over the mud wall at night.)

In that case, what kind of monsters there are is absolute luck.
There are certainly many covolts, but there may not be monsters like Snow Cyclops that feed on covolts.
In some cases, there may even be monsters stronger than Snow Cyclops.
On the contrary, of course, there are monsters that are weaker than Snow Cyclops... or, on the contrary, there may be only a few Kobolts.

(We'll need a good punishment for the people who created the situation. And we'd like to do something about the magic item.)

Ray, who still believes in the possibility that one of the Covolts is a magic item, thinks so.
Taking a look at the enemy's stronghold, Ray heads with Grange to the shade of a building a short distance away.
That's why I thought it would be impossible to see it from the building.

"But what did you really think of calling the cobolt?"

Hiding out of sight of the enemy's base, Ray asks Grange beside him.
However, Grange was asked about it, but he didn't hear about it from his employer.

"If you ask me, I don't know about that, but... if I had called a lot more powerful monsters, that is, rank C monsters, the confusion would have spread more, but I dare say, "Well, maybe they didn't want a full-fledged confusion about Gillum."
"Well, that's probably the case... but I still have doubts as to what you thought of doing that... ...of course you haven't heard of that?"
"Yes,"

Grange answers Rey's questions without hesitation.
Listening to the answer, Ray wonders what the hell is going to do.
I know, however, that it doesn't make much sense to think about it.
As they struggle like this, one of the guards comes under the Ray's.
Seeing that expression on his face, Ray thought there was no need to worry about the stakeout... in fact, what the guard said was that there was a shop where the former guard was running and he decided to use it.
