2009 Episode 2009

The day after having a good dinner with Kenny... Ray was in the woods of Trent.
But it's not particularly surprising for Ray, as it's his routine to come to the forest of Trent.
They carry the felled trees to guillem every day -- except when they go to collect them -- and for the workmen, if they don't come, they have to carry the felled trees themselves, so Ray is very grateful.
When Ray had gone to collect the woodcutters, everyone was physically pretty tough.
Normally, it is necessary to leave the felled trees to some extent and dry them.
If that were the case, it would naturally have lost moisture, and the trees would have been lighter by the loss of moisture... the trees in the forest of Trent had to be transported in a heavy condition because they had no process of drying.
The woodcutters do the same kind of work on a regular basis, but they struggle to carry the trees in a carriage as long as they don't have that process.
Also, the fact that this is the frontier of Gilm, which is protected by adventurers, must be a mental pressure on woodcutters who come from outside Gilm.
When monsters attack, it takes a lot of time to escape in a tree-carrying situation.
Naturally, they would leave the tree behind and escape, but if the tree being carried by the monster was broken or damaged, it could affect the magical processing performed by the alchemist.
But there is no woodcutter who opposes Ray's coming to this place, as he has no need to worry about it at all.
nor will they object to Ray's coming to the forest, since all the woodcutters he brought this spring were in favor of him -- at least superficially.
And no one complains about the adventurers of the bodyguard, partly because they knew Ray existed as an adventurer.
There was no way anyone could have said anything to look down on Ray's appearance when they saw him moving on a set.

"Well, there you go. That's all the trees that have been cut down."
"Well, thank you always for your help. If you don't have Ray..."

Clearly an adventurer older than Ray, he treats Ray as a figurehead.
The adventurer's world is probably one of the proofs that ability is everything.

"Well, it's an easy job for me, too... Set?"

 There's no problem.
Ray tries to say so, but suddenly finds Seto wary of the surroundings and calls out his name.
It is very rare for Seto to be so vigilant.
The monsters that appeared in the forest of Trent were essentially weak monsters.
Sometimes high-ranked monsters appear, but rank D and C are still the best places to go.
But of course, there's nothing for Seto to be this wary of against such monsters.
 ...but this is a frontier.
It was no surprise that Rank B and A monsters would show up.
Is there such a high-ranked monster?
Ray thinks so and observes the surroundings very closely.
The adventurers talking to Ray, and the other adventurers who were wary of the surroundings, reach out to their weapons so that they can react quickly to whatever happens.
Some of the adventurers also consider it dangerous and begin to act to gather the woodcutters who are cutting trees in the forest of Trent.

"Glu? Glu... Glu... Glu... Grunt.

Seto was wary of the surroundings, but he was gushing in all directions, as if he didn't know where to be wary of.

"Set?"

Seth's unusual appearance is that Ray mutters his name mysteriously, taking his death-size and twilight spear out of Mistilling, ready for anything to happen.
Seto, who was called by his name, seemed bewildered... but he just choked.

(Hey, by any chance... there's a monster approaching who's so capable of concealing that he doesn't know... by any chance, is there any more?)

With a bad, really bad feeling, Ray quickly looks around.
The Gryphon set also has an overwhelmingly sharp five senses, a sixth sense... and the ability to feel magic.
Nevertheless, if such a set were to be wary of the surroundings and still not be able to find an enemy, it could be said that it was a very difficult situation.
Looking at the adventurers around him, Ray ponders what to do.
I'm confident that I'm the only one who can do it.
However, if you have someone who can hide from the set, you'll have to deal with monsters like that, and you'll have to deal with other people.
Basically, the work environment of protecting woodcutters is quite severe despite the fact that they are not paid that much, so many skilled workers don't get it.
There are many reasons why some of them do so, but only a few of them do so.
In other words, many of the adventurers here today are not necessarily beginners... but they are by no means strong among the adventurers in Gilm.
It's obviously very difficult to fight against monsters that even Set can't find while protecting them.

(No, woodcutters are more of a problem than adventurers.)

Other adventurers than Ray, who are originally here, are primarily asked to guard the cutters.
And while some woodcutters are bloody, if you ask if they have fought for their lives in a serious way, let alone fights around the city, you may have experienced it, but few of them have.
Protecting not only adventurers but also such people is very difficult for Ray and Sett alone.

(What shall I do?)

 The thought is fleeting.
Ray was the highest ranked adventurer here, so he needed to give directions quickly.

(Will you let them go? No, they're monsters with more abilities than even Seto can find. Even if you let them escape here with adventurers on their guard, they're more likely to be targeted.)

Adventurers alone might be able to run away in groups, but even the woodcutters might panic and run away in all directions.
As long as that is the case, it was certain that it would be better to keep it at your side by side.

"I don't know what kind of enemy is coming, but I'll be the enemy. It's dangerous for you to fight, as long as you can't fully detect Sett's ability to search for enemies. You'll have to guard the cutters."

You guys are weak. Some adventurers are likely to respond reflexively to Ray's words, but the adventurer who was talking to Ray before speaks.

"All right,"

It was an adventurer who had been talking to Ray until now.
The man's earlier remark leaves others unable to complain.
It is perhaps in this case that the adventurer was also the coordinator of the other adventurers here today.

"It's a relief,"
"But there is no sign of an attack, considering the presence of the enemy. Perhaps they have gone to the woodcutters?"
"No, that's not the case,"

Ray instantly denies the man's words when he sees Sett.
The reason Seto is still wary of his surroundings is because he was so confident that he had enemies on his side.

"If the enemy is away, Seto should understand it. Without it, there is no doubt that there is still an enemy near here. ... Perhaps, but he is looking for a chance here."
"If Sett does not know where the enemy is, he may not have one."
"That's all right, isn't it? If you lose sight of the enemy, you'll understand Set, and most importantly..."

Without a word, Ray turned his gaze from deep in the forest of Trent to the woodcutters running towards him.
The adventurer I've just called for runs the lead and is wary of the surroundings so that they can respond quickly if someone attacks them.
However, as long as he is not a thief, his ability to search is naturally better than none.
Nevertheless, Ray was convinced that the enemy was still close to him that he was able to reach this point without being attacked by the enemy.
I couldn't find it in Ray's ability unless I knew where he was in Seto.

(Really, where are they? Are they not coming out because they make us endure and wear us out? Or for some other reason...)

Ray is thinking about the enemy's aim, but just then the woodcutters arrive under him.

"... Hey, Ray! What's going on?"

With two long objects, Death Size and Twilight Spears, Ray had extraordinary power.
The woodcutter was breathless for a moment, but when he asked Ray quickly, he replied short words.

"Didn't you hear from him?"
"I've heard there's a monster, but that's it. If it's a monster, Ray can beat it, can't he?"

Knowing that he understands most of the situation, Ray opens his mouth if he wants to know what's going on around him."Well, it's like a monster around there, or if you show up, you can fight... ...see how Sett looks."

At Ray's words, the woodcutters... and the adventurers also look at Sett.
However, the set continued to look around, looking to the tree on the right, looking straight up at the grass on the left, looking at the ground, and so on.
Seto himself knew something was near him, but he was clearly confused about not knowing what it was.

"This is..."

The woodcutters seem confused, but it's easy for adventurers to understand how good Seto is.
Ray had been staring sideways at us, but he was wary of the situation around him again...

"Gurling!"

 Suddenly, the set screams.
It's not a cry that you've been wary of before, but a cry that means you've clearly found an enemy.
That's why Ray looks beyond Sett's gaze, concentrating on his ability to react to whatever happens... and stops moving.
Because there were no monsters there.
There was something indescribable there, though not as a substitute.
...yes, there was a ripple in the space.
a ring-like ripple that occurs when a drop of water is dropped in a glass containing water
There have been many such repercussions... more than a dozen of them floating in the space.
Such a sight, though not normally quite believable.
However, for those who live in this world called Elgin, it is reasonable to see scenes that they cannot understand.
Especially if you're an adventurer, encounters with the unknown are not common, but they're certainly not.
However, as long as the adventurers gathered here are not so skillful, no one is ever upset by what Ray and Sett see.
What's more, the scene beyond the eyes of the woodcutters was beyond description, and it was only natural that they should be confused.

"Oh, wow! What the hell is that?"

cried one of the woodcutters, and the others were equally disturbed.

"Be quiet!"

The upset reaches its climax and someone begins to make a fuss, with a sharp cry of Ray reverberating around them before each tries to get away from the scene at will.
It's an overwhelmingly powerful voice that differs from what Ray used to say.
Those who, of course, had heard such voices, which made them feel the power of a notorious adventurer, stopped moving...

"Don't be confused, the woodcutters should be gathered in one place. The adventurers should be their bodyguard! The enemy from the ripples of that space will be me and Seto!"

 give a quick instruction
If the enemy had emerged from the ripples of space along the way, it would have been a battle immediately.
However, there is still no sign of anything coming out of the ripples created in the space.
That's why Ray could afford to give instructions to his companions... but when he saw the ripple begin to glow faintly, he stopped giving instructions and waited so that he could move on to attack... and eventually the ripple that floated through the space gave off a dazzling light.
