2146 twenty-fourteenth episode

"...what?"

Hearing Ray's explanation, Dusker looks up from the document he was reading.
The expression is, of course, a stern expression.
If you came all the way to scout, you had better assume that you knew about the lake.
Or did you come with an interest in the Tower of Birth?
The details are still unknown, but interrogating the black-clad men they had captured could have provided some information.
In response to such a dusker, Ray gives a lot of information about the incident.
After hearing Ray's explanation, Dusker changed from a stern look to an uncomfortable one.

"Then, first of all, we need to find out who hired the black costume, or whose owner it is."
"Well, to be honest with you, I don't know what else will happen in this case, and there's the possibility of reconnaissance and ... attacks in the same way."
"Well, we need to do something about it, too. ... Don't be a nuisance to me at all right.

 the bitter words of Dusker
There is no doubt that this incident will cause a lot of trouble.
Dusker, in particular, is already concentrated on his work, and days on end whether to sleep, eat, or work.
Not only that, but sometimes they ate while working, and sometimes they had too much work to get enough sleep.
Despite all these days, Dusker is still doing well because he uses a magic duvet that relieves enough fatigue from his robust body and short sleeps.
I knew I was going to be busy last year, so I managed to get this futon ready, but it proved to be a good idea.
With all the busyness of the day, there's more work to be done…it's not easy, it's more likely to be troublesome.
It's not quite acceptable, but it's not acceptable.
Nevertheless, just because it's unacceptable, you can't do anything.

"Anyway, I understand the situation. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

 That's another miscalculation for Dusker.
There are few adventurers comparable to Ray in terms of skill.
If you are not as talented as Ray in general, there are quite a few of them in Gilm alone.
But... in this case, what is needed is skill in case of emergency, but more than that, you have a keen sense of the enemy approaching.
In terms of those five senses, Dusker could not think of being sharper than Ray's sub-magic Seto.
And what Sett loves about Ray is what everybody knows if they know him.
Therefore, it is impossible to have Setto serve as the bodyguard for the Tower of Birth.
Furthermore, as many people need Ray's ability in additional construction, Ray uses his mobility to make appearances in various places.
In other words, it's always more profitable to have Ray and Sett move as a set.
That's a good chance of causing problems if you let them do something else badly.

"It can't be helped. Frankly speaking, I thought the watch might be over. I don't know what will happen if something like last night happens."

Ray is concerned that Zozo and Gaga's Lizardmen will be treated as monsters and harmed, that selfish merchants will smell gold in the lake, and that... no one will imitate the slime that is still burning under Ray's spell.
The slime that continues to burn near the lake is undoubtedly a slime with a violent capacity... ...no, even without some special capacity, its massive body and mass alone pose a sufficient threat.
What happens when such a huge slime hits the guillem?
As long as the boundary is not in perfect condition due to the extension of the building, the worst case is that the wall will be destroyed and that slime will jump into the guillem.
If that happens, the damage will be enormous.
That's why Ray, if he could... he certainly wouldn't want that slime to interfere.

(Looking at it now, that slime is going to burn forever. It's going to be a tourist attraction just like a lake. ... Yeah, I shouldn't think of anything strange.)

If you think badly here and it comes true, you'll be in a pretty bad.
Ray decides to change his mind... and at the same time talks about another topic, hoping that it would be a little bit of a change in Dusker.

"Come to think of it, I don't know if I can call it a monster because there's no magic stone, but I caught a huge fish, too, a fish with huge tusks."
"Fish with tusks? Isn't that unusual?"

a dasker bent over Ray's words
Fish with tusks are not uncommon for Dusker, who has traveled to various places as a knight and seen various monsters as lord of Gilm.
That's about as much as he does... no, isn't it unusual for Ray to go more places than he does in the first few years of his life in Gilm?
But Ray shakes his head confidently at Dusker's question.

"It's probably not the kind of tusks Mr. Dusker imagines. Some of them have tusks, but most of them are about the length of their fingers, right? But when they came out in that lake... well, about...."

As he says so, Ray shows from elbow to fingertip.

"It's about this length of tusks. They're two up and down, and four down."
"...that's another..."

If it were a fish with tusks the length Ray had shown, it would be something Dusker had never seen.
If it's an animal monster, not a fish, there are some monsters with such large tusks.
But what Ray showed was a fish.
What's more, the creature in the lake that had metastasized didn't have a magical stone, so we didn't know if it was a monster or not, and it was possible that the fish was a fish with such tusks, not a monster.
Then Dusker, too, is intrigued by Ray's story and encourages him to move on.

"And? And what happened to the fish?"
"It was delicious."
"Did you eat it?"

There is a cry coming out of Dusker's mouth, perhaps unexpected.
Screaming, Dusker's tone was so curious that he did not seem to be the same person who had looked difficult as he had just done paperwork.
That's the difference in the impression you get when you're looking at documents and when you're looking at them with your current curiosity.

"Yes. We know that the fish in the lake are harmless to eat so far."
"But you haven't checked it out. How did it taste?"

Ray opens his mouth with a smile when he asks if he still cares about the taste of the fish.

"As I told you, it was delicious."

The fish was definitely delicious, though not outstanding.
...but that's just because Ray eats a lot of high-ranked monsters, and it's definitely an excellent taste.

"Well, it was delicious. I envy you."

Dusker looks envious at Ray, but suddenly remembers and says.

"Ray brought me the Kerberos meat, which I ate last night, and it was so delicious. It was so delicious that I was able to get energy out of my body... No, it was so delicious that I was able to do my job vigorously."

The remark was neither false nor false.
Having eaten the meat of Kerberos, which is one of the most powerful of the Rank B monsters, Dusker is now full of energy, as his accumulated fatigue has been blown away.
The meat of Kerberos is such an effect.

"I see. That's good. ... We were all happy to eat it, but we'd like to eat the food made by our professional chef anyway."In particular, Dusker's chefs are of the highest caliber...no, they have what you might call the highest caliber.
What would happen if such a cook cooked Kerberos meat?
 It'll be obvious, needless.

"Hahaha. I was jealous of Ray who ate fish, but I think he could have made Ray jealous."
"...there is still a slice of fish with its tusks, but it would be unsavory to feed them to Dusker."
"Well,"

Dusker wanted to refute Ray's words, but for now it's based on his adventurer's experience that he's OK to actually eat fish from the lake.
If the lake had been transferred from somewhere else in the world, it would have been no problem to eat the fish caught there...however, the lake had been transferred from another world.
The fish caught there must be thoroughly investigated by scholars before it can be identified.
Ray doesn't think there's anything wrong with the way he ate it, but given Dusker's position, it was only natural that he couldn't imitate it.
Dusker also understands that the reason why Gillum is now able to operate without any major problems is because of his presence.
That's why a fish from a different world... obviously a giant fish with unusual tusks, can'tusks.

"For the time being, I will put it in my mistling so that it can be eaten if the scholars find it safe, though, considering that it was quite easy to catch in that lake, it may always be possible to catch it."
"Well, then, I'm looking forward to the day... ...about the scholar."

Ray says the word scholar, and Dasker reports it's just right.

"There was a scholar who helped me when I was a knight, and I was able to get in touch with him. I mean, he came to Gilm and showed up because he was doing extension work."

It was clear what it meant to be that we went out of our way to talk about scholars in this situation.

"In other words, do you want him to investigate Whisp, but... I don't doubt Mr. Dusker's eyes, but is he a reliable partner? It's a little too good to come to Gillum at this time."
"I understand Ray's idea, but he doesn't like people in power. I don't think there's no problem."
"No, but... it's been a long time since Mr. Dusker met the scholar, hasn't it?"

People can change for years... or even days, hours, or even minutes.
If Dusker was close to the scholar during his knighthood, it should be a long time ago.
Then there is no denying the possibility that your personality has changed so long.
But Dusker opens his mouth as if he had read Ray's feelings.

"Anastasia is reliable. It's true."
"... Anastasia? Is that the name of the scholar?"

Ray, who thought it must be a man because he was a scholar who helped Dusker, was surprised by the very name of Anastasia.

"Oh, it's the elf."
"... Mr. Dusker, you have a great deal to do with the elves."

Marina, who has known Dusker since she was a child, is Dark Elf.
And when I was a knight, I was taken care of by E.L.
There were very few elves and dark elves, and it was a tremendous probability that they met two elves, Marina and Anastasia."
...but if I were to say so, Ray would have met more elves and dark elves.

"Is that so? Well, it may be so. Anyway... you should meet for a moment, and you'll understand that you're not the one to worry about."
"Well, if Mr. Dusker says so, I don't mind,"

For some reason Ray nodded to Dusker's strangely powerful push.
