2169 Episode 2169

"Grull-rull-rull-rull-rull-rull-rull-rull-rull-rull-rull-rull-rull-rull-rull-rull!"

Seto is happily singing and walking around the disassembled oak, picking and eating little by little.
Ray calls out to Seto, thinking it's almost evening and it's time to get ready for dinner.

"Set, I understand you're happy, but leave it there. It's time to put it away. The smell of the meat may catch you and a monster may come. ... No, is it coming?"

mutter as the adventurer near the lake sees a fish suddenly popping out of the water with his bare hands.
Ray couldn't tell if it was a fish or a monster, but it was about a meter long and its nose was as sharp as a rapier.
The fish, half as large as that, made Ray imagine a swordfish he saw on TV while in Japan.
Although the fish looked as slender as saury and swordfish.
The fish were apparently going to attack the enemy with a sharp point.
On top of that, the body is thin, making it difficult for those who are attacked to deal with it.
...hard to do, but not difficult for adventurers here.

"Ray, let's grill this fish for dinner to-night."
"Well... but I never thought the smell of meat on the ground would catch me out of the water. ... Well, I can't deny the possibility that I came by accident, not by the smell of meat."

a swordfish, or a kind of fish that looks like a combination of a swordfish and a saury
It was a fish that seemed appropriate to be in the sea, not in the lake, but if it became a lake in a different world, it would be quite natural to have such a special fish.

(there were such huge slimes, and there were many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many,

Is it because of this lake, or was it commonplace where this lake was located?
Ray didn't know about it, but it was a fact that he had caught a new species of fish again.

"Is it okay to eat that fish? It's your first time seeing it, right?"
"You've had no problem eating fish, and that's all right, isn't it?"
"Well, it may not be a problem,"

At least, I don't want to eat.
The adventurer who caught the fish asks Ray questions.

"If you don't want to eat anything else, you don't have to eat Ray. I'll eat this fish."

Ray can't disagree with it if he's told he's going to eat it.
If you know it's obviously poisonous, you can say you should eat it.
But no fish has ever been caught from the lake.
With that in mind, none of the fish living in the lake are poisonous.

"Well... eat carefully, just in case. Our job is to guard the tower of our birth. If, on the other hand, poison makes us unable to move, we'll have a lot of trouble."
"I know, I know. If anything happens, I'll deal with it right away, so don't worry."

I wonder if it's really okay for Ray to say so comfortably, but the adventurer was also sent to guard here as a trustworthy companion to the guild.
If that's the case, it's only natural that we're ready to deal with something immediately, and we don't have to worry about that.

"So, Ray. What are you going to do for dinner tonight? By the way, I don't want to eat that fish. Look, that nose. It's like a rapier. I'm going to eat that dangerous fish a lot."
"It's a bit of a problem to decide whether to eat or not just by appearance."

Many deep‐sea fish should be described as grotesque if they are just for their appearance.
Anglerfish, which Ray also loved, are typical examples.
When a stranger sees anglerfish, it should not be considered delicious, though, because some people still ate it, anglerfish spread as delicious.
There are also countries that dislike octopus, which is popular in Japan, as devilfish because of its appearance, and you probably don't want to eat sea cucumbers and sea urchins, though not so much from its appearance.
In that sense, Ray was opposed to judging whether to eat or not just by appearance.
...but if you ask me if I eat fish as unknown ingredients without any particular investigation, the answer would be negative.

"Well, if you want to eat, why don't you just eat the guy you want to eat? And if you don't, we can eat too. And if you don't... Well, I'm an adventurer here, I think you'll have some sort of potions, so it won't matter."

If you're an adventurer enough to come here, you might as well have a pretty high rank of ports.
Then Ray predicted that some poison would do.
It was also a great deal that many other adventurers seemed eager to try a new fish.

"Glu, glu, glu, glu, grull.

Head to Ray, Seto gurgles joyfully and looks at the oak meat.
From her appearance, Ray could tell what she was expecting.

"Is it really good?"
"Gruly!"

Ray's words give a lively cry.

"Ray. What is Sett saying?"

Ray and Seto can communicate, but no one else can tell.
That's why the only way to know what Ray and Sett were saying was to ask Ray directly.

"Sett said he could use the oak you had picked for dinner tonight. ... He must have wanted to eat it with us, too, because it's not for himself."
"Oh... Set..."

After hearing from Ray, the adventurer turns a startled glance at Seto.
That's because for a man, Seto thought he would never give up on food.
In fact, Seto's greed about food has been fully understood since we started living together here.
Why did such a set suddenly come to pass on the meat of the oak?
It's no wonder to wonder so.
Ray, however, doesn't think it's particularly complicated.
As I said earlier, I thought it would be delicious if we all ate it together.
I'm sure Seto has a stronger attachment to eating than anyone else, but at the same time he understands how delicious it is to eat with others.
When Ray explains this again, the adventurer nods in agreement.
...the meat of an oak is a meat which adventurers often eat.
That's why I'm very grateful in the sense that I can eat comfortably.

"Well, then, today we're going to grill and eat oak, stewed oak, and assorted oak. ... I don't think we're going to have enough oak dishes. Oh, and we're going to eat vegetables."

Ray's words make some of the adventurers look disgusted.
Some adventurers are likely to downplay food, but that's the way they are.
Some people who are sent from the guild to guard the Tower of Birth may not be particularly concerned about it.
Ray's knowledge of nutritional balance was something to gain when he was in Japan.
"However, it is not a detailed description of which vegetables are nutritious and how much to eat, but rather a knowledge that if you want to eat meat, you should eat vegetables accordingly."
Even with that knowledge, I can fully understand the need to eat vegetables.
Many adventurers here might have been told by their parents to eat vegetables when they were little, but if they lived away from their parents, they would eat only what they wanted.
Of course, some people eat vegetables properly or prefer to eat vegetables.
At any rate, some people didn't agree with Ray's demand to eat vegetables.
Ray, however, is not going to tell such people to eat more vegetables. He's here as an adventurer... let alone a man of ability.
Then there's no need for Ray to say anything.
...and in Ray's case, it's not a shortage of vegetables because Marina uses the right amount of vegetables when she cooks.

"Now, I have received Set's permission, and I'll grill the meat with great vigor! Get the fire ready!"

Following Ray's words, the adventurers on the spot begin preparing for the bonfire.
...no, it wasn't just adventurers who began to prepare for the bonfire.
When Zozo heard Ray's words, he gave instructions to the other lizards to help them prepare for the bonfire.
The move has helped us to work with adventurers even if we don't understand each other's language.
This neighborhood is worthy of description.
While Ray is watching, he quickly gathers firewood and prepares dinner.
Once ready, the expectant gaze of the lizard men who heard from adventurers and interpreters from Zozo that today's meal was oak meat will be directed to Ray.

(Well... this number of oaks isn't enough at all. Well, this is how Set decided to treat them all. Then can I serve them, too?)

Deciding so, Ray pulls Gamerion's meat out of the mistling.
If you look at the already processed meat of Gamerion, as a matter of course, you can't tell what kind of animal or monster it is.
That's especially true of the lizardmen.
But, of course, the adventurers here are different.
You can't afford to miss the meat you've seen so many times.

"Hey, Ray. Maybe that's...

One of the adventurers asks nervously.
Ray nods to such an adventurer in a natural way.

"Oh, it's Gamerion meat. Isn't it unusual to be able to eat raw Gamerion meat instead of dried meat or salted meat at this time of course.
"Of course!"

a man who yells at Ray's words
But it seemed to have been the same for the other adventurers, turning to Ray... or, no, to gaze at the flesh of Gamelion that Ray had.
Gamerions are basically caught only in winter.
And this season is spring... no, it's already summer for more than half of us, and we rarely have a chance to eat raw Gamerion meat, let alone the preserved Gamerion meat.
What makes it possible is Ray's mistrings.
Adventurers here have been able to eat hot and freshly cooked food and have benefited from it.
It's no wonder that fresh Gamerion meat comes out of Ray's mistrings.
Still, it was only natural to be surprised to see Gamerion's meat in front of us.

"With this number of people, that amount of oak is definitely not enough. That's why I decided to serve meat."
"But Gamerion's meat is..."
"Well, you know... I've got a lot of tricks on me.

Ray replies misleadingly to the adventurer's words, saying it's a waste.
Because Ray's mistrings contain a lot of Gamerion meat.
That's a lot, including the ones that haven't been dismantled yet.
This Gamerion meat was obtained from a dungeon made a few years ago during the Gamerion season.
They also sold some to guilds, but a lot of meat was still stored in Ray's mistling.
This time Ray served the meat... the adventurers who saw it exclaim with joy.
No way, at this time of summer, I didn't expect to be able to eat Gamerion meat.
... Ray nods satisfactorily at the adventurers, but suddenly sees Sett.
Perhaps they are dissatisfied with the fact that they were all looking forward to eating oak meat together, but disappeared because of the impact of Gamerion meat.
But... when he saw Sett, like the rest of the adventurers, was pleased to eat Gamerion's meat.
