44 Art. 44. Road pavement

We will now begin our work.

In front of the village were dryads and other demons from the housekeeping group transported by dragons.
The dryads have been transported by the dragons in front of the village to perform additional tasks requested by the villagers when guarding the village.
They wanted to know if there was any way to reduce the risk of being attacked by demons in the valley.
This town is separated from the surrounding towns and villages by a valley, so it is not convenient to go there for some business.

The thinning of the demons in the upper valley is over, but it would be useless if new demons came again. That's why we decided to plant ivy seeds around the valley's cliffs and at the bottom of the valley, which give off a scent that demons hate.
Of course, just planting them will take a long time to grow up.
That's why a dryad with the ability to control plants came along.

Now, wake up!

When the dryad calls out, a sprout pops out of the newly planted seed and begins to grow rapidly.

Oh! In the blink of an eye, the ivy will grow back!

 The villagers scream in surprise.

"Now no weak demon can come near here. And while we're at it, I'll also plant some deep-rooted plants to prevent the cliff from collapsing.

Oh, thank goodness for that, too.

The villagers thanked the dryads for their goodness, but the dryads' true intentions were different.

(It would be a shame if the cliffsides hurt the ivy that protects them from the demons.

The smell of demon repellent does no harm to the dryads. In fact, it's a very welcome request as it will increase their clientele.

The only thing the demon scent does is give off a scent the demons don't like, so they can get in if they're forced to. So please do not provoke the demons.

"Of course! I will remind my children well.

It was a dryad that nodded pleasantly to the words of the villagers.

He was a dryad who nodded pleasantly to the villagers.

"Okay, scrape that off!

Elsewhere, demons of earth and rock were at work on the rock wall.
The minotaurs, proud of their strength, chipped away at the cliff wall from above, chipping away at the sides into triangles. The shape of the triangle is upside-down, with the length and width of the wall being the shortest sides and the diagonal portion being the longest.
When the triangle is completed, make steps on the slanting side of the wall.
 That's right, a staircase.
The stairs were built so that the villagers could easily keep track of the ivy to keep the monsters away.

As expected from a carpenter by training, the minotaurs were able to handle the small tasks with ease.
This must be a surprising sight to those who believe them to be rough and stupid demons.
In fact, the nature of the minotaur varies greatly from race to race.
There are buffaloes that love water, Holsteins that are gentle, black cows that are rough, and so on.
Moreover, the minotaurs are very powerful. With their delicate skills and brute force, the staircase was completed in the blink of an eye.

Next, let's build the opposite wall!

"No, no, one staircase is not convenient if something happens. Let's build another one. And let's cut that one out and make a spiral staircase.

You'll have to make the other side first. Also, we need to make a hole to let the outside light in.

The minotaur, who had just finished a job, had plenty of energy to spare and immediately went to the next job.

I want to paint a mural or something.

Nice.

In later times, this staircase would be called a historical relief created by the ancient Minotaur civilization with its advanced technology.
Little did they know that this would cause a huge stir in the future historical societies, and at the same time, various contradictions would arise, leading to a great deal of confusion and uproar in the debate about the authenticity of the staircase.
