42-Internal work does not end

The place was prepared for window flowers. There was an inside job of making a zenmai waiting for him.

A countermeasure against the unexploded rounds of locally made rifle grenades.
 Timed fuse!

In parallel with the loading capacity, Windowflower had also begun to improve the locally manufactured rifle grenades. The time is inaccurate with a simple, small firing fuse. But the time is definitely slower than the landing of a bullet with a more generous design. So it's a good countermeasure for a dud.

Come to think of it, the early rifle grenades were terrible....

First of all, it was a water-containing explosive, so its power was lower than that of the earth-made bombs, but this was inevitable. What was fatal was the fuse detonation. So it was only a long-range grenade launcher.

So we tried a mechanical fuse made in the factory in the car. The fuse structure was too big and the explosive charge was too small and its power was less than a hand grenade. Next, they tried to simplify the fuse, but it failed to explode...

Unlike rifle-mounted (add-on) grenades, rifle grenades can be used if they are set in the muzzle. Therefore, there is a high degree of freedom in its design. That is the reason why it was chosen in this research. After all, it's bare at the end of the muzzle. Therefore, it is not bound by the standard of the firing tube and shells.

So we tried to sacrifice the range and enlarge the size of the mechanical grenade. But it was too much to ask.

The first prototype had a range similar to that of a hand grenade and was useless. Prototype 2 gave priority to reducing the weight of the mechanical fuse and sacrificed its shape instead. However, it was too aerodynamically unreasonable and rotated in the air. The evaluation results were rejected.

In Prototype 3, the research was done in the direction of making the second one stable in flight. If a small stable wing was not possible, I added a thin leather band to the plane, using the same idea as the tail of a kite.

It flew well, but the accuracy was terrible, and it was impossible to fly even close up. Its portability was also very tight due to the long leather strap. The results of the evaluation were rejected.

But this time, I used a small, lightweight, reliable piezoelectric element fuse made of crystal! It's also used in anti-tank rockets, etc., and the principle behind it is the one that produces electric sparks on a cassette stove. It's not much of a crystal material, but I've finally managed to make a usable, locally made rifle shell!

But the dud rate is never going to be zero. So you need to add a time fuse as well. However, there are many parts to the clock, and assembly and production time is a problem. For that reason, I need to make fuses, so I'm working on the window flower trap on the side.

Well, I have experience as an assembler.
 But window flowers are tough...

First of all, after the explosion, the parts are prone to break off to use the rounds for fragments as well. Besides, if a part failed inspection, they had to re-inspect every part. Furthermore, if the results were poor, all parts had to be disassembled and inspected, and then reassembled.

In addition, the reinspections and reassembling were not included in the working hours at Window Flowers.

I want to go back to making combs.

 What? This armored car?
Was it actually a crabby ship?

Midia's unfamiliar driving. An inside job with no end in sight in a shaky car.

Finally, we get a break! Please, please, please, please let the break be as long as possible.

''Ryota-sama, we don't have a lot of supplies this time, so the shells are going to be scattered around. You don't have to go get them if they're far away, right? I'll go ahead and tow it in when the paras open.

Wish upon a star.

 Please!
 Fall in close!

I wish with all my might for the supplies that have turned into shooting stars. If they fall near me, I'll ride my bike to get them so I can get out of my inside job! But my wish did not reach the falling star. It seems that the star doesn't apply to old men, either.

Supply details

As before, cotton para and cellulose containers. Most of the explosives are cotton gunpowder, so they are raw materials. The contents are mainly daily necessities, as planned, with a small amount of explosive additives. We came to another world with modern weapons, and most of our supplies are daily necessities, hahaha.

 ...How did this happen?

''Ryota-sama, please ask for the synthetic crystal manufacturing machine for the next supply run, okay? Worst case scenario is just permission to create a crystal and a recipe. I'll make a small amount for you.

 Me, I don't need that.
There'll be no end to the inside job.

My mind is dying before my body does.

We had a limited amount of crystals, so we managed to finish our internal job. But this time, the comb won't be able to convince Midea.

What about the awkward and good thing?
I ask in a roundabout way.

'Make all of your window flower stuff! Do you mean you can cut corners for me?

Forgive me for measuring by the window flower standard!
 It's double the quality.
They set me up with window flowers.

I couldn't say it as it was, so I wrapped it in an ostracism and explained it. I made a pleading apology and an excuse........but it was no good. In the end, it was the result of a painstaking effort. A very fine tortoiseshell comb, which I couldn't believe was an amateur, was created.

In the meantime, the trading city of Basra finally came into view.

Phew, once we get to the city, we'll be sleeping in an inn instead of an armored car. The innkeepers would only have to use beeswax wax to prevent rust from rusting the ammunition, which is an easy task. Let's also buy more beeswax and wax.

The city's gatekeepers.

"Foreigners must enter through a separate entrance, the additional foreign settlement area around the right.

Tedious, when you could just take a shortcut through the city! You gotta give me back my time in line!

In the end, we had to detour from the right and head for the foreign settlement. The foreign settlement is an area that was expanded after the completion of the city. That may be why it is poorer than the city's walls. The wall is only half as thick and high as the main city.

However, there are many merchants, so it is a splendid city inside. I don't live in the wall, no problem. Then, I stand in line again and show the guarantee to the gatekeeper.

[Gee! He must be a dangerous gringo, he must not be allowed to come here.

We need someone who can hear even a whisper a genie named Window Flower.

 Gatekeeper..........
You'll sulk if you're not nice to me, right?
 I will.

'Good job. I'm pretty sure it comes with a warranty, which says no customs duty, no censorship, and no entry tax. Yeah, no problem at all. You're welcome to come in.

 A grateful response.
Shifting the blame to a brilliant warranty.

[Gee! And I would have felt better if it wasn't for that!

When I entered the settlement, I found that the foreign settlement was quite prosperous. There is a mining town upstream of the river that flows near the city, where mineral resources, timber and meat are transported one after another by boat. There are many blacksmiths and many wealthy people.

The shells are likely to be sold at a high price.
There are many shops and lodges in this area.
I have a feeling that I can stay in this place culturally.

Can we finally take a break?
