6 Episode 5: Lost Child and Blacksmith

 I'm lost.
If there were someone, I could ask for directions, but there is no one, no sign of anyone. Well, it's not like I can sense people or anything.
However, since we are in a city, we must be inside a wall. In other words, if I go straight, I might run into a wall somewhere.
And so on and so forth, and go straight down the street.

You've come to a dead end. A T-junction. It's not a city wall, but an abandoned building.
Somehow we've ended up in a place that feels like an abandoned slum. To be honest, I don't want to stay long.
But if I turn back, I'll just keep getting lost again, so I turn right to see if I can find a way to go in the direction I just walked.
After a few minutes of walking, you find what looks like a store. The only sign on the door says "Kurosmith".
Thinking that if there is someone there, he might be able to ask for directions, he opens the door and tries to go in.

Who are you here through?

I jumped up when I was suddenly approached by a voice. You look down and see a short man with a long beard and a sturdy physique looking at you.
I wonder if he is a dwarf.

No. No, I wasn't referred to you, I got lost. ....... No.

I answer honestly. If I lied, I'd be found out soon enough.

"Hmm. I don't know why you wandered into this place, but it's an arms store. If you're not interested in weapons, get the hell out. "Hmm.

Don't be nice to me. And if you knew how to get home, you wouldn't have any trouble.

No, I'm an adventurer and I'm in the market for a weapon. Can I take a look?

I don't mind, but how much money do you have?

Thirteen hundred and fifty.

That's not enough to buy a knife. From the way you move, I'd say you've got a talent for martial arts.

It seems weapons are not cheap. I think the knives on the earth did not cost more than 13,500 yen if they were not expensive, but mining and industry must be underdeveloped.
Is it possible to detect martial arts talent by movement? I'm glad he didn't cover it up.

I had amnesia and found myself penniless in the woods. I managed to get enough money for lodging and guild registration, so I thought I'd work as an adventurer.

"I see. You'll be strong enough, if you don't die. With your size, you should have a one-handed sword and a shield. I'll make you a one-handed sword for 10,000 and a shield for 5,000. Come back when you have more money and want better gear. Come back when you have more money and want better gear.
I look at the weapons around me. There's definitely an atmosphere of good equipment, or a sense of style.

And don't tell anyone about this store without permission. I'm not going to sell my equipment to someone who can't use it properly. If you didn't have any talent in martial arts, I would have forced you out from the beginning. Normally, the guild would introduce you if they recognized your skills.

You were the first one to tell me to leave. .......
Anyway, I got to know a good weapon shop. I guess it's a hidden gem. It's an unexpected good fortune.

All right. I'll come back when I have enough money.

"Oh. Go get yourself some money. Don't die.

I wondered if this was a kind gesture from the dwarf. I opened the door and walked out, feeling refreshed.

Then I open the door again and come back inside.

"Excuse me, which way to the guild?

 I was screwed.

Ten minutes later, I'm in front of the guild. The blacksmith shop and the guild were closer than I thought, but it was hard to find. I wouldn't have known if I hadn't asked the dwarf for directions. Oh, by the way, I forgot to ask the dwarf's name, and I didn't have time to appraise him. Well, I remembered the location of the store, so if I ever go there again, I can ask him.

Anyway, I arrived at the guild, though I took a detour. Probably not more than an hour had passed since I left the restaurant.
I entered the guild and looked at the G-rank requests. There are no requests for killing in the G rank. In addition to yesterday's request to collect medicinal herbs, there are other requests such as tilling the soil in the field, carrying luggage, and carrying lumber.
I don't feel like a G-rank adventurer, and I don't have much confidence in my strength, so I decide to take the request for gathering herbs. You don't have to accept the request, but you have to ask what kind of herb Zunana grass is.

The blonde receptionist from yesterday is there, so I talk to her. It's not so much that I know her, but it's better than never having spoken to her at all.

As I approached him, he smiled at me from the other side.

"Hello, Kaede. What can I do for you today?

She seemed to remember my name. Perhaps a guild receptionist should be able to remember the names and faces of everyone who comes in.

"Hello, um, .......

"Hi, I'm Saris. Please call me Sally.

Hello, Sally. I wanted to know what zunana grass was.

When I called her name, I thought I felt a slight chill in my back, but I didn't care. I guess I just came to another world and my body is not used to it.

"Yes, it's zunana grass. It's a grass that grows in the forest, and it's scattered one by one. It has a distinctive leaf shape, with one small leaf shaped like this attached to each small branch growing from the stem.

This town has a forest on the side I came from and a grassland on the other side. I've never been to the meadow side.

It's a versatile herb that can stop bleeding if it's roasted and boiled down, or it can be mixed with other medicinal ingredients to make it more effective, but it doesn't grow in clusters, and for some reason it only grows in forests where there are demons. In addition, the adventurers who enter the forest are better off hunting demons, so there is not much supply of them, and we need as many as we can get. The supply is small, and we need as many as we can get. It's a constant request.

He then shows me a picture of a wooden stick with a small blue marble on the end. It looks like a heart. It looks like a heart. I wonder if it's a pentagram or something.
However, being an adventurer is a job that even a normal person like me can easily get. It would be nice if there were adventurers with a sense of safety who live by collecting zunana plants.

I can live without fighting demons just by gathering zunana grass. Isn't there anyone who does that?

It's hard for adventurers to live on zunana grass alone because it's scattered all over the place and 90% of what looks like zunana grass is docu-zunana, so it's hard to collect enough of it. In addition, if you go into the forest for a day or two, you may encounter demons, and if you can deal with that, hunting demons is a better way to earn money. Even if you don't die, if you get injured, you'll spend a good amount of money on potions, and you'll end up in the red. For adventurers of that rank, the income is more stable and they are less likely to get hurt. That's why Zunana grass is not very popular.

It seems that this is the reason why Zunana grass is not popular despite the fact that it seems to be an easy job. It's not a full-time job, but I wonder if information manipulation analysis can help.
It would be useful if it could be used like sonar or radar.

Thank you very much. I think I can handle it, so I'm off!

"Okay. Have a good day. Have a good day.

Sally sends me off with a smile. When Sally smiled at me, I felt a chill again. I hope you don't have any problems with your health. .......
When I walked out of the guild, the chill went away. I wondered if the air in the guild wasn't good for me.

I go out of the city. There seems to be no need to show ID or disclose your status when you leave. It seems that people who have committed crimes in the city and become bandits will be allowed to escape, but since there is such an outer wall in a mere city, they will not be able to live if they cannot enter any city. I suppose I could make a band of thieves or something. But if we continue into the forest, we'll probably get lost. I wonder if there is any good magic.
I try to think of a map or a compass, but nothing works. I didn't notice it when I came here, but when I look at the forest, I see that it slopes slightly and the town is at the top of a hill.
If you go up the hill, you will be able to return home.

Zunana grass seems to be scattered throughout the forest. Can't we do something with information manipulation analysis?
I try to imagine something like a radar, but without success. In the first place, I have never seen a real zunana plant, so I can't imagine it.
I'm going to look for it steadily. Perhaps it's because we're in a forest close to the city, but I feel that the distance between trees is much wider than when I first came to this world, but it's still a broad-leaved forest.
The undergrowth is full of green grass that I don't understand, but there are dandelion-like plants growing in places.
The fact that there are so many dandelion-like plants growing in such close proximity to the path, and yet they are not being picked means that they are probably of little use.
After walking for about five minutes, I found a pentapetalous plant, so I plucked it from the root and examined it. The stem broke easily with a little effort. It was about 25 cm long and the stem was square.
 Poisonous plant
Description: Poisonous plant. Causes diarrhea and abdominal pain if taken orally. Similar to Zunana plant, but the stems are square and can be distinguished.

It is not a poisonous plant. If it were as strong as aconite, it could be used in battle, but it is useless as a laxative. Well, there's plenty of room in the item box, so I'll keep it for now.
The inventory is at 5/1012. The description of Dokuzunana in the item box says only that it is a poisonous plant.

At any rate, I know that Dokuzunana is a pentapetalous plant. The similarity between the two plants suggests that zunnanakusa is also a pentapetalous plant.
I'm going to look for pentapods and pick them all. There would be no problem if I picked poisonous plants in vain.
It was about an hour later, I thought. I finally found the first zunnanana plant, after having collected eight dokuzunana plants.
Zunnanakusa is also a pentapod. It's not so different from Doc's nana except for the round stem. Anyway, now you can imagine it. Put the zunana plant in the item box and try to imagine it again.

No response. It seems that it cannot be used like a radar. As you look up, you see a red triangle in the grassland, which looks like this.
If you get closer and look underneath it, you will see that there is penny grass growing there. It is Zunana grass.
I heard that it is not possible to imitate radar, but I wonder if you can see it if it is in your field of view. There are about three ▼ marks in the area visible from here. I tried to collect all of them, but they are all zunnanakusa.
If you use this, you may be able to live on Zunana grass. But fighting demons is more romantic.
With that in mind, I walked around in the forest and collected ▼ all the time. The request form said to bring something larger than 15cm, but I couldn't find anything smaller than that.
I wonder if there is a reason why they don't collect the smaller ones, since they seem to grow even if they are overfished. I'll ask next time.

We walked around in the forest until evening, eating bread on the way, and collected about 200 zunana plants. That's 6,000 ter, or 60,000 yen. That's enough to live on. That is, if the number of herbs doesn't dwindle.
Even after collecting such a large amount, I could not find anything smaller than 15 cm. I wonder if Zunana grass grows from the ground in a state of 15cm or more from the beginning.
If that is the case, it is no wonder that they grow as much as they can even if they are overfished.
At any rate, the sun was setting, so I decided to return to the city. I didn't get lost.
