3 - I met a dog in the woods.

"That's a strange order, isn't it?"

A soldier in light armor was holding me in his arms.

By the way, I was wrapped in a white cloth from the neck down and put in a basket.

"Is this baby a child of a sinner or something?

The soldier with me asks me this, but I am the only one who knows the answer.

I wonder what they will do when they find out that I am a prince. I can only see them selling me out.

"Well, orders are orders. No hard feelings, okay?"

The soldier, who did not seem to feel guilty at all, arrived at an open spot and placed the baby cage on the ground carelessly.

"This is hellhound territory. Let's get the hell out of here.

"Right."

The soldiers left me in the deep woods without looking back.

 That's right.

 I was abandoned.

My father, the king, did not take action himself, nor did he allow his men to kill the prince.

As a result, he threw my newborn baby into the woods.

Very few people have come to my defense. Or rather, only one. He was a strong-looking old man. I wonder why he was so desperate.

 Is there something behind it?

 After all, I don't believe in "people. I don't.

In my past life, and in my present incarnation, people have nothing but rottenness in their hearts. Maybe everyone, including me.

But it's not enough to be sentimental about it.

I don't want to be eaten by a beast. I live in the now!

Well, I'm glad it wasn't a direct kill.

At least until the beast shows up, I can think of all kinds of ways to fake my death.

Lying in the forest, in a slightly open space, I see a blue sky cut off by leaves and branches, and white clouds flowing through it.

The place where I was born seems to be a royal palace, but it seems to be far away from the palace.

I put a ward on my soft skin, thinking I'd get up anyway.

"Whoa!

"Why is Feng in this forest?

In the distance, I heard such cries. It was the soldiers who had come to abandon me.

It was soon quiet... and then later...

Now there was a crunching sound of bushes and the snapping of trees.

 And then...

I looked to the side, and a huge head appeared out of the trees.

 It's a big dog.

His fluffy fur is a fiery red color, and the bridge of his nose is very dignified.

But dogs are usually no taller than 10 meters, aren't they?

 It's another world. Demons.

Is it the hellhound the soldiers were talking about? But I don't think it's the same thing.

The unidentified dog stares down at me from a distance.

I expected it to attack me right away, but I wonder if it is discouraged by the fact that I don't seem to be getting enough to eat.

Step by step, they slowly approach us, as if they are on the lookout for land mines.

Suddenly, however, the dog opens its mouth wide and leaps at us with tremendous force.

 Gun!

<>

I thought I heard someone's startled voice echoing in my head? Anyway, I was not eaten, and the huge red-haired pooch hit the tip of my nose hard and fainted in agony.

Yeah, it seems to have worked.

I had cast a warding spell.

Just as I had imagined, I had constructed a transparent cage around the doggy.

The puppy immediately adjusts his position, but seems to be confused as he looks around. Eventually, the dog hit the ceiling and all sides of the cage. But it was unmoved. He tried to dig but was unable to dislodge the dirt.

 Well, the crisis is over.

Or maybe this dog-kid is actually weak, despite his appearance. I mean, he's trapped in my warding magic, which is only level 2.

But we don't know when it will be broken.

I must secure a means of attack while I can.

I use the white cloth that is wrapped around me to remove it and raise myself up. I run, jump, and bounce around to warm up.

>

I thought I heard strange voices again, but when I looked around, no one was there.

There was only a big red-haired dog-killer standing still in a low position.

I thought to myself, "Well, whatever..." and I deployed countless small invisible wards around me.

I aim at a large tree that looks just right, and fire off small wards at the highest speed I can muster at the moment.

 ZDDDDDD!

The area around the base of the large tree disappeared completely, and the tree fell to the ground from there.

>

The auditory hallucinations are getting annoying.

 I look around again.

But still no one's there. Just a puppy with his mouth gaping open.

But it's pretty powerful. That's more powerful than a machine gun going off. I don't know much about it.

I'm not so easygoing as to think that I'm going to shoot this thing at him right away, and I'm going to get myself out of a life-threatening situation.

Magic is so prevalent in this world. There is a very high possibility that this much power is just below the level. Each shot will probably be light, so it could easily be blocked by some kind of magical barrier.

After all, they are demons. It is not surprising that they can use magic.

I try to create a rock-like transparent barrier on top of the fallen tree. Big enough to crush that little dog.

I drop it as hard as I can.

The tree shatters into pieces, and a big dent is made in the ground. The shockwave is approaching, so I defend myself with the ward.

 What do you think?

Would this be enough to beat that giant dog? No, but I do: .......

<>

My auditory hallucination is saying something.

<>

This time, he skipped the question. I can't overlook this.

 I look around three times.

There's no one here. Just a big dog shaking like a rabid dog.

I've actually set up a large detection perimeter with a radius of a hundred meters. I don't want any more demons coming in.

The alarm will go off if even an ant gets in. In fact, insects and birds have been coming in and out of the house so many times since a few minutes ago that it's been quite noisy.

I'm going to make two kinds of wards to investigate the situation in more detail.

The first is a range type of warding.

It gradually expands around me and reacts to anything different from plants, trees, and rocks.

The other is the application of the clairvoyant type of warding.

It sends a plate-like field to the place where the range type field reacts, and displays an image in front of my eyes with another plate-like field connected to the range type field.

Whenever there is a reaction, a plate-like field is created and sent out.

I see a rabbit. Oh, there's a deer, too. Hmm? Big for a dog ....... We found a pack of black-haired wolflike dogs, smaller than the giant dogs there. They look a little frightened with their tails curled?

<>

I didn't listen to the auditory hallucinations, but the continued strange reactions made me tense up.

These must be the soldiers who ...... abandoned me. They don't seem to be breathing. I mean, they were covered in blood and looked really gross.

Strangely enough, even my extremely low tolerance for grotesque images didn't seem to be affected by it, but that's beside the point.

As I thought, there was no creature that seemed to speak human language.

 Let me guess...

 A ghost?

His voice is tinged with irritation.

In this world, beasts talk. That's amazing.

By the way, this dog sounds like a beautiful, dignified woman. Is it a female?

I, a hikinikin who has never talked to anyone in the three-dimensional world except his mother, was instantly nervous.
