12 - The maid is watching.

Lias was given a room in the most prestigious guest room in the castle.

He plops down on the canopied bed and pounds his fist on the pillow.

"f*ck, f*ck, f*ck, f*ck! Why? Why did I have to be such a bottom-of-the-barrel piece of garbage!"

 I can't believe it. I can't accept it. It shouldn't be real.

(I'm a prince. I'm the next king of the kingdom, the blood of the Princess Flash!)

It's a lie that an opponent with one-twentieth of my magic power can beat me one-sidedly, let alone take me by surprise!

"No! He was doing his best to avoid my attacks. That's why it's not one-sided. ......"

I didn't want to believe it, and I wanted to believe it wasn't true.

But when I think back on it, I get a horrible feeling in my spine.

What did Hurt do at the end?

The magic that had been invoked had vanished without a trace. Magic that nullifies magic. That's a trick only a former great sage could pull off.

Why am I in this ...... mess?

I had no intention of participating in such a troublesome inspection.

I came all the way to the frontier on my mother's orders.

To find out what's wrong with Lord Semphis, the leader of the royalist faction. If it's enough to bring him down, good. Even enough to weaken his voice.

That was the task that Lias was given.

I thought it was too much work. It was not a job for a prince, he complained as a child.

But he told himself that this was the best chance to win his mother's approval, and he had come all the way.

What would my mother think of me if I failed?

--You can do it, can't you?

I remember the icy smile on his face, and an indescribable fear runs through my body.

Lias shook his head from side to side to shake off the horrifying imagery.

He had thought of everything along the way in order to accomplish his mission.

Instead of finding out what was wrong with Lord Semphis, he thought it would be better to make something wrong with him. So he decided to be irreverent and beat his son to a pulp, which would surely bring disrespect to the prince.

It was a child's wit, but that was the best he could do at the age of nine.

Even if Lord Semphis does not come on board, he will have to pay more attention to the "selfish prince". While he is paying attention to us, the knights will be working behind the scenes. They too are under secret orders from the queen.

Lias himself is a good maneuver with his "earthly" character. He doesn't have to act like a good boy. That's what I thought. .......

"Your Royal Highness, excuse me."

There was a knock at the door, and without waiting for a reply, several knights entered.

It's almost time for the dinner party. Please get ready.

The maids of honor then appeared and had Lias change his clothes.

The dinner party was to welcome the visitors, but to tell the truth, I did not want to see Hurt. Even as a child, or perhaps because I am a child, my instincts whispered to me.

 --That thing is a monster.

One of the knights who had not left the room while I was changing tells me.

"Invite Sir Semphis' daughter to visit the farm tomorrow."

"What? What the hell?

You'll need someone to talk to along the way. Then I thought you, Charlotte, who is close to my age, would be a good choice. I'm afraid "he" won't be much fun to talk to.

I bit my back teeth when he said it in a mocking tone.

"...... mother's orders?"

"Please accept this as a sign of my concern for His Highness the Prince."

I guessed it because he dared to hide the subject.

(But what is your mother thinking ......? You're dealing with a seven-year-old brat, right? (How could he possibly get information that would lead to a weakness in the frontier count?)

But it never occurred to me what my mother had in mind.

When Lias went to the banquet, the knights were still talking secretly in his room.

The guest room reserved for the prince was protected by layers of protective wards to prevent any sound from escaping. They took advantage of this.

"The prince has gone to a great deal of trouble," said the knights. He even tried to make a match out of it and then turned the tables on us in cold blood. I'm sure the queen will scold him severely when he returns to the palace.

When the oldest knight said this, he was met with laughter.

"Anyway, it won't interfere with the plan. The big day is tomorrow. At this point in the forest, we will attack the carriage with the prince, the princess, and our target.

The elder knight points to a map spread out on the table.

"I, along with a few of my men, will take the three of you and lead you to this point."

"So you want a giant summoner to attack us there," says the young knight.

"Yes. We'll maneuver and let the summoner take out our target. I hope the princess is to blame, but our first priority is to make sure the target is eliminated. You two will stay near the wagons and keep Lord Semphis at a standstill.

"You mean that we will be in the way so that you will not be able to give it your best shot. Yes, sir.

A detachment is already deployed at the target site. The summoned creatures will be disguised as demons, so they will not be able to trace us.

If either the prince or the princess is injured, we can accuse Lord Semphis of failing to check for safety.

"Don't get sloppy. If you fail, be prepared to be pierced by an arrow of light."

Princess Flash is relentless. In an operation of this magnitude, failure was not an option.

The knights swallowed hard and left the room.

 The whole story...

"d*mn shallow people!"

 The maid was watching!

While Frey was cleaning the corridor, he was peeping into Lias' room with the remote monitoring ward that Harte had given him.

He had been spying on their plotting.
