53 - beginning of a revolution

Riza came to an abrupt stop above and in front of the Royal Square. She landed on the roof of a nearby building, and lowered herself to look out over the square.

The place where residents are usually allowed to come and go was completely blocked off by soldiers. They are on high alert.

(It's rather convenient that they don't have to dispatch people over the magic formula, though. ......)

<. But if you enter the plaza, you will be inundated with soldiers.

(When Charlotte and Frey are ready--)

We will do all the chanting right here, and as soon as we get close to the target, we will activate the magic. At the same time, we will drive the castle-breaking stakes that we have set up in the academy.

<>

This is Riza. The plaza in front of the palace..."

Riza gave the current situation and the plan she had just come up with.

<

<

"I just have to be ready, right?"

<>

 Boom!

A blast sounded in the middle of the conversation.

Riza turns her eyes and sees white smoke rising from the royal palace. And then...

"Charlotte-sama! It's activated!"

A huge circular magic circle glowed in the square in front of the palace.

>

It has been activated, but there is still time for it to take full effect.

Riza flew away without even replying. She landed right next to the glowing magic circle while the guards were panicked by the palace's anomaly.

"Shatter!"

As soon as he announced this, a number of ice piles appeared.

 Seventeen in all.

The stakes shot down into the square from the edge where they appeared, piercing the magic circle.

The ground shook. A shattering sound shakes the air. A cloud of dust hid the light of the magic circle.

(What is it? Did the one over there trigger? (Did you feel a response or not ......?)

A guard man interrupted my thoughts.

"Hey, you! What did you just do? It had something to do with the explosion at the royal palace--"

"Don't come here!"

Something came out of the dust cloud, aiming at Riza, who screamed.

"Gugyooooo!"

There was no light in the hollowed eye sockets, and the open mouth was filled with countless teeth, all fang-like.

Riza back-stepped to avoid the rush, and the creature closed its mouth with a clank.

"What the hell was that?

Is it a demon?

I've never seen anything like it.

No wonder civilians don't know about it. Even the soldiers of the royal guard have probably never met one.

 Elder ghouls.

Their body shape is close to that of a man. Two limbs and a head. The neck is three times longer than a normal man's. The ears and nose had been cut off.

They are the higher species of ghouls, also known as the living dead or cannibals.

However, there is a world of difference in their abilities between the higher and lower ranks.

Unlike ghouls that move slowly and have only the arm strength of a human, elder ghouls are more agile than hellhounds and boast physical abilities equivalent to those of a magic level 20 self-enhanced.

What's even more problematic is that...

"You! Did you summon them? All hands on deck!

"No! Stay away from me! If an elder ghoul bites you, you become a ghoul!"

While they attack and devour people, they can also increase their subspecies by biting them.

The enemy's horrifying plan is to unleash so many Elder Ghouls that they will turn King's Landing into a city of corpses.

Snow Lance!

A huge spear appears in Riza's hand. A long conical spear.

It pierced the chest of a nearby demon.

"Gugyoo!"

The chest freezes, gradually widening its range. But it could not hold its breath and extended its long neck to bite Riza.

Riza dares to put one hand in its mouth. Before the sharp teeth reach her skin, she blows her head off with a blast of cold air. Finally the Elder Ghoul is silenced.

"I'll take care of this. Please evacuate!"

He swings his giant spear to create wind, and the dust cloud dissipates.

(10......20............32)

The magic circle has ceased to function. However, the demons that had been born did not disappear.

If this were a normal summoning spell, the summoned creature would not be able to remain after the formula is broken.

(This is not modern magic. (Not modern magic, but something related to ancient magic? (Anyway, now we have ......)

Riza thrust her spear into the ground. As she channels her magic, a crack is created, circling around the outside of the Elder Ghouls.

"Ice Wall!"

A wall of ice extends from the crack. Eventually, a dome-like structure enclosed the hordes of demons. In one place, in front of her, there is a hole that is big enough for one to fit through.

If we close them all up, they will try to break the wall.

But if there is a hole, they will rush to it. That's what happened.

"Ah!"

The tip of the spear is thrown at the head of the one that jumped out. Its head is shattered and it crumbles to the ground. It does not twitch.

(Good. If you break its head, you can defeat it.)

 But his vision is distorted.

(I fired too many powerful magic spells in a row without chanting. But...)

I couldn't go down. If I failed to capture even one of them, many of the inhabitants would turn into ghouls.

As a demoness, she didn't care if a total stranger was hurt.

(I'm sure Charlotte-sama will be sad. So...)

He carefully destroys the enemies that come flying out one by one.

The guards couldn't even get close to him because of his ghastly deed.

--A cathedral in the southern part of the capital.

In front of the majestic building is a park, with food stalls lining the perimeter of the plaza. The area was crowded with people on their way home from work, but it was almost like a holiday.

Suddenly, a magic circle appears in the middle of the square, causing a commotion in the area. However, the people of King's Landing, who are so accustomed to peace, seem to have little sense of danger, and none of them run away before anyone else.

"Gentlemen, you are in danger. Please run away immediately.

A girl in a fancy dress announced this in the sky above, but no one moved. Some even hoped it was some kind of entertainment.

 Charlotte wields her stick.

A dark cloud is gathering over the magic circle.

"What the hell?

"What's this?"

"I'm getting wet!"

Heavy drops of rain fall. The people below ran out of the magic circle, not wanting to get wet.

Charlotte does not have the water attribute. The magic that made it rain was the effect of her walking stick. The stick given by her brother Harte has some special effects, but they are only for amusement.

She herself is still in her infancy, and is not yet capable of great magic.

It was impossible to destroy the ancient summoning magic circle.

But she has a secret plan.

(The first step is completed. Now, let's continue...)

A black shadow crawled out of the magic circle. An Elder Ghoul. Charlotte cannot stop them alone. Before one by one they attack people...

She reaches into her 4-dimensional pouch and throws out what she has grabbed.

A small folded cloth. But as it spread out, it grew in area, and when it blew away the dark clouds and floated up, it covered the magic circle.

At the center of the cloth, a huge circular magic circle was drawn.

"Come! Knights of Camelot!"

The magic circle shines. Something jumps out of it.

Clash, clash, clash, clash, clash, clash--

About 50 armed skeleton soldiers landed on the ground. At the center of them, one of them, holding up a sword, shouts.

"We are the Kingsguard of Camelot. We have answered the summons!

This is Johnny, one of the Knights of the Round Table, commanding a legion of knight-skeletons.

"We need your help to eliminate the enemy Elder Ghouls and to evacuate the population.

"Yes, sir. Delta, Echo, you guys spread out and keep people back. The rest of you-- run!

""""Oh!!!"""

With a yell, the sound of clattering teeth echoes through the air.

The skeleton soldiers formed up and rushed forward faster than the confused Elder Ghouls could attack.

But the Elder Ghouls appeared one after another.

Although the Night Skeletons were superior in terms of their individual combat power and coordination, they could not afford to destroy their opponents' magical formations.

Of course, this is within the range of Charlotte's expectations.

Another huge shadow falls from the large cloth floating in the sky above.

Thud, and four demons were crushed by the Gikant Golem.

"Gigan, please destroy the enemy's summoning magic circle!"

"Uh, okay."

Paying no heed to the elder ghoul that had bitten him on the leg, Gigan raised his hands in a crossed gesture. His fists flashed.

"Earth Quake!"

As soon as he swings down, the skeleton soldiers jump up.

The earth shook with a thud.

The buildings bounce up and down, and the magic circle shatters, along with the ground. The people around them are unable to stand and fall to their knees.

"Even if you destroy it, the demon won't disappear. Is it different from a normal summoning magic circle? In any case--"

 Charlotte gives the order.

"There are about sixty left. Then, ladies and gentlemen, it's time to clean up the mess!

The elite of the giant golems and skeleton soldiers responded with a roar.
