415-Chapter 2 The Lost People

Perspective: Darryl.
Right now, walking inside this dense forest, I felt the beauty of magic for the first time. What spells are all lies, they're useless.
The reason that made me come up with such a thought was naturally because I, White Moonlight and Black Rory had come to the Crangabeo Forest to explore the way before the event and then... got lost.
That's right, lost, completely unable to find a way out, and feeling like we were circling in the same place no matter how we went.
"I say, wasn't this trail left by us three hours ago?"
I pointed to an Arabic number '6' on top of a tree.
That's right, every hour we leave a number on top of one of the more obvious trees and continue walking, and the last time we wrote '9', and now seeing '6' means....
"Did we walk inside the forest for 3 hours and end up back where we started?"
"It would seem so, Darryl Sauce."
Black Laurie said so with a righteous expression.
"Don't call me by that strange name."
It's really goosebumps to hear her call me that, this must have been taught by that bastard White Moonlight.
Thinking like that, I took a glance at Bai Yueguang and saw that he was full of bitter smiles.
"It's cute to call it that way, isn't it, White Sauce."
Pfft!
I felt a little more balanced as I looked at Bai Yueguang's face that was about to turn gray.
Do you know what it means to not be dead until you're dead? I think you're experiencing it very deeply now, aren't you?
"Could we care less about names and stuff, what now, the event starts tomorrow and we're still lost in this, really?"
"Who's to blame? Who says this forest is not enough to be feared at all to bring us in?"
"Well... purely by accident, who knew our... sense of direction was slightly out of whack?"
That's a subtle way of saying he was referring to our little map.
That's right right after we entered this forest, our mini-map lost almost all of its functions, except for the occasional ability to detect the beasts that appeared around us, all terrain and directions disappeared. Now we can only recognize the way based on our sense of direction.
However, having been used to the small map for a long time we had almost completely lost such a thing as our sense of direction, and with the forest looking more or less the same, we had now become completely clueless inside the forest.
"I say, why don't we just go up the mountain?"
Black Laurie said.
"We've been trying to head out and we've been spinning around, so we might be able to discover the route better if we just head up the hill. After all, heading up the hill we can feel the climb, so we won't get lost, right?"
"That's true though."
White Moonlight asked.
"But what can we do if we go up the mountain? Our goal is to get out of here, huh?"
"Maybe the view from the mountain will be better than here, and then we can spot some special markers to get us out of the forest."
I said with a nod.
"Besides, do you have another way to get out? How about just chopping the trees in a row with your chopper? The view and everything would be better without trees in the way, wouldn't it?"
"Hey, hey, hey, that's too much, isn't it? Directly destroying the forest or something, and it's for path recognition or something..."
"Then where else do you get all this nonsense, get up the hill!"
"White sauce and Hei sauce don't fight oh~"
"You've had enough!"
We both said at the same time.
"Really, it's obviously cute, so let's just keep on with the little white dawn."
Hei Lori spread her hands.
Really, this guy....hey.
"Alright, Sebastian, you're in charge of jumping up to see which side of the mountain is."
That's right, the only way for us to see where we are now is for one of us to jump up and look at the scene around us, then confirm where we're going next.
Unfortunately, every time we confirmed a direction before, we would get lost while walking, and I don't know why.
Probably the three people's wayward attributes stacked together caused an additional effect.
White Moonlight clearly didn't want to be such a hard worker, but he looked at me and then at Black Lori next to him, probably realizing that he was the only male here, so he had to sigh and then walked to a place with no trees at the top to cover him.
The next thing I saw was him whirling and jumping up, to which I had only one word to describe.
"Looks like a monkey."
And I said it just as he landed, and White Moonlight heard it and frowned at me.
"Then next time you'll jump!"
"Don't."
"You..."
Well, I just love to see people eat their words.
"Okay, no more nonsense, which way are we going this time?"
"This way."
White Moonlight pointed in the direction to our right.
"It's about 20 kilometers in this direction."
"That's pretty far..."
I scratched my head and said.
"Why don't we run over there?"
"Come on, the last time we tried to run over there, we ended up going in circles inside the forest? Hurry up and go."
"Pity, I wish I had brought more spell charms."
It's not as convenient as magic, but if I were to use spell charms to set up recording points along the way, we'd probably have walked out.
But I thought we'd be back soon, so I didn't bring any, and ended up being stuck here all day.
I guess it's a pain in the ass to bring all the equipment no matter what.
Well....
Looking at the sky, which was ready to darken, and then at the foggy forest in front of me, I could only smile bitterly.
It's better to leave quickly.
