119-Luna's Past (3 4)

I arrived at the city where the entrance examinations for the Ifrus Magic Academy are held.

It's a big city about two hours' ride from my town. I've been here a few times with the sisters, but this was the first time I'd come to this city by myself.

I thanked the merchant who gave me a lift here early in the morning and I walked into the city. The town was crowded with people as the entrance exam room of the Ifrus Magic Academy was being set up today.

The exam will be in the afternoon.

But before that, you have to apply for the exam. I stood in line for the application.

I successfully completed my application for the exam. My exam number was 101. My number before me was 99, so I thought it would be exactly 100, but for some reason it was 101.

Maybe there are nobles taking the exam before me. In Ifrus Magic Academy, even noblemen have to take the entrance exam.

However, unlike ordinary people like me, noble officials can apply for the exam in advance. Moreover, they can take the exam in any order they want.

There's no need to get up early in the morning, come to this city, and stand in line for the exam. I'm a bit jealous.

And since the children of noblemen are taught magic by famous wizards from an early age, they are all highly skilled in the use of magic. So it seems that most noblemen pass the entrance exam without any problems.

Even though it's a school to learn magic, you have to be able to use magic to some extent when you enter. There seems to be a system of scouting for kids who seem to have the right qualities, but they didn't come to me.

I'm over level 50 and can use all kinds of auxiliary magic........

Well, I live in a small town and haven't accomplished anything publicly, so it's no wonder I didn't catch the attention of the school's scouts.

There's no point in regretting what you've done.
Let's tackle the exam with all our might.

It's not enough for me to just pass my exams. I need to be recognized as a scholar because I have no money. Otherwise, even if you pass the exam, you won't be able to pay the admission fee and tuition fees.

First, I took a written exam.

The questions ranged from general knowledge of magic to a very difficult question that required me to decipher the ancient runes, but I was able to solve all of them.

Even though the ancient runes are ancient runes, it was effortless for me to read them, as I have the language comprehension skills.

The words written in those ancient runes were 'Bless you who understands this sentence' - which made me somewhat happy.

By the way, the examinees were seated in the order of number and took the written test, but the number 100 did not come. Perhaps the nobleman was taking the test in another room. I was vaguely curious about what kind of person the number 100 was.

Afterwards, we moved to a different venue to take the practical test. In the practical test, you have to show the examiner the magic you're good at, and show off your skill in using magic.

I planned to cast a lot of auxiliary magic on myself and destroy the target with the lowest level of attack magic - I planned to destroy the target. I had defeated a lot of demons this way, so I was proud that I had a pretty sophisticated way of using magic.

It looks like boy #99's exam is over.

I was about to step into the hall──.

Oh, you must be number 101. Please hold.

When I was about to enter the venue, I was stopped at the entrance by a staff member. It seemed that the person number 100 was going to take the practical test here.

I was waiting for a while, and then someone came in from another entrance. Perhaps he was the number 100 person. I caught a glimpse of the person's profile and I knew who he was.

The number 100 person taking the exam before me was an aristocrat, as I had expected. That person was the son of Count Silberlei-sama, who has this city and the town I live in as part of his territory.

 His name was Hurt.
You were the same age as me.

Hurt-san has black hair, which is rare in this world, and beautiful blue eyes. He had dark hair and beautiful blue eyes, which is rare in this world, and his behavior was dignified and cool.

His clothing was also of very high quality. After all, he is a person who lives in a different world than I do.

It looks like that Hurt-san bowed to the examiner and began to release his magic power. I'm not very good at detecting other people's magic power, but it was so dense and enormous that even I could see it.

With this much magic power, what kind of high-level magic would they use?

 I watched Hurt-san's movements with a nervousness.

''Firelance!''

Contrary to my expectations, Hurt-san unleashed the lowest level of fire-based magic. And I was surprised at the result.

The magic he released (the spear of fire) easily pierced the prepared sturdy-looking target and burned it to the ground. It was not the power of the lowest grade magic by any means.

Mr. Hurt seemed satisfied and left the hall. It seemed that there was a separate exit from the entrance to the hall where I was, so he left through that one. So he wouldn't have noticed that I was watching him at all.

The examiner was a bit of a loose end, but he noticed that I was standing at the entrance and resumed the test.

I was trying to think of a way to appeal to him to break the target with the lowest level of magic, but the examiner might see my magic in a haze since he had shown me such an amazing Hurt-san's magic just before.

Still, I hadn't thought of any other way to do it, so I ended up casting as much auxiliary magic on myself as I could and managed to break the target with my intermediate magic.

Even so, I couldn't destroy it all.
 Harut-san, it's a bit unusual........

But I appealed as much as I could.

Now we just hope that we can get a good result.

 I'm sorry.

Back at the orphanage, I wrote about my day in my diary. I have an absolute memory, so I don't need to write a diary to remember the events of the day, but I wrote a diary every day out of habit when I was in my former world.

If I didn't write a diary, I felt kind of uncomfortable. And since I can never remember how I felt or how I felt at that time, I write a diary.

Today I took the entrance exam for the Ifrus Magic Academy. I think my written exam is perfect. How about the practical skills? I tried as hard as I could, but.......I'm worried that my results will be blurred because my lord's son, Hurt-san, used the lowest level of magic to completely destroy the target that I could only half-destroy with my full effort. Oh, Hurt-san was very cool. It's the first time I've seen him up close and personal. If I could, I'd like to go to the same school as him.''

─ I put down my pen here today.

If I write any more, I may end up writing about my fantasy of enjoying school life with Mr. Hurt. This is a diary.

Let's enjoy the school life with Hurt-san in our dreams.

I was blessed with ancient rune letters, so I think I'll have a good dream tonight.

 Well, good night.
I wish you a good day tomorrow.
