154-Sea shrine

It was three days after they left for Sevalia.
We hadn't encountered any particular problems and were making good progress on the magic carpet.
However, it didn't look like it was that far on the map, but in the middle of the road, the road started to veer off to the side and we had to go in a detour.
The map I borrowed showed that it was drawn as a detour.
But I thought, why not just go straight through, so I left the road and headed straight for Sevalia, but as a result, I hit a steep mountain.
I didn't feel like climbing a mountain just for the sake of moving, and even if I said I was detouring, it would only extend my travel time for a day, so I turned back and returned to the street in a straightforward manner.
Freesia was making a lot of noise about wanting to climb the mountain, and I should have followed the map from the beginning....
Totally, whoever suggested we go straight up.

So now we're in the middle of moving along the coast, but....

It's so boring that nothing is happening!

Freesia started to say something like that. Not again!

You shouldn't say that, sir. It's a good thing that you can get to your destination without any problems.

"Well, I followed Heihachi and the others because something interesting seems to happen with them.... Then, let's go while looking at the ocean. We've come all the way to the ocean and we can't see a thing! Let's move further along the coast!

Even though it's along the coast, the road is on the inland side of the city, so the ocean is not that well visible.
That's why Freesia started fooling around with it when we started moving today, so we did it all day before noon, moving all the way off the street and along the coastline.
Estelle and the others wanted to see it too, so that was fine with me... but at this rate, she's going to make me look at the ocean all the way to town.

'I let you see it all morning long.... It's going to take you a long time to get back to the city if you go too far off the beaten path. When we get to Sevalia, I'll let you see as much of the sights as you want, just be patient.

'Really! Then I'll put up with it!

This time I don't plan to show up to the association immediately after arriving in Sevalia.
If I'm too early, I'm afraid they'll get suspicious of me again because of the way I'm moving and all that.......
So I'm going to spend a day or two looking around the town.
I wonder if Freesia was convinced by that, and she became quiet while humming again.
Good grief, if I don't get her interested in something on a regular basis, she'll soon be doing this.

As I was advancing the magic carpet again with this relief I saw five red dots in the map app.

'Looks like there's a demon in the direction we're going...'

I'll take care of that for you!

With that, Freesia stood up on the magic carpet and started to prepare her bow. Noor supported her legs so she wouldn't fall off.
During this movement, the enemies that were in the range of the seen were asked by Freesia to take care of all of them.
Honestly, if it's a magic carpet, I can get away with it, but as for the demons that are nearby, I'm defeating them like this because there's a possibility that others will be harmed.

The usual jovial atmosphere has disappeared and Freesia is now holding her bow.
It's a good idea to be able to have a good time with them.
I've seen it many times already, but this allows her to shoot arrows in succession at a speed that is invisible to the eye.
It's so fast that it's almost enough to shoot through the demons at the same time.

From a forward diagonal direction, the demon approached until even we could barely see it.
I'm not sure if Freesia is aiming at it or not, but she watches it quietly for a bit, then holds her breath and releases her bow in succession.
And then the five red dots disappeared from the map app as they landed on the demon, which appeared to be only the size of a pea.

''Brilliant!''

Heh, it's a natural part of being an elf.

'I'm afraid of this being the norm for our species and all that, but...'

'Even I can't help you if you shoot so precisely from a distance...'

I was speechless when I first saw it, but it's still amazing no matter how many times I see it....
Shooting five moving opponents at the same time, that's the height of the monster.
What kind of deviation shooting is this thing doing? Moreover, a single shot from a distance that's almost impossible to see destroys them.
If all the elves could do this, they'd be laying down to kill us all at once.

It's a good thing that you're not the only one who can do this.

Oh, that guy would happily run off by himself when he saw a demon.

It was, wasn't it? Now that Sisuha is staying at home, I miss it.

'Wow, you're so naughty, Sisha-chan. It sounds interesting, so I want to hear your story about that time!

I don't know how many times Freesia calls me naughty, no matter how much I feel a little sorry for that guy... no, I don't.
He's a guy who often causes a lot of trouble in a different direction again, so it's not much of a difference.

As I was telling the story to Freesia, who was interested in the story of when I wasn't there, the display appeared on the map app again.
Multiple blue dots this time. These aren't demons or anything, but beings with no hostile intent towards us.
Looking at the fact that they are moving solidly, I think they are probably people.

'Oops, looks like there's a person again.

'Then we'll have to go around. You're going to run into a lot of people on the road in this direction.

''Hmm, it looks like the logistics are thriving because it's close to a port town, and it seems there are a lot of villages along the way. I'm afraid the beacons we've placed are going to be found in this one...

When we get to Sevalia, we need to get the beacon off the road a bit more, don't we?

I've encountered people quite often in the time I've been here.
Each time I would leave the street once to avoid being spotted and pass them from out of sight.
I moved to the shoreline to do the same this time, and started to continue on out of sight.
I kept going for a while.

''Huh........''

Is something wrong, sir?

Well Heihachi, you might want to stop right there.

Hmm? I don't mind, but....

Freesia pointed to an object on the precipice.
When I got closer and got off the carpet to take a closer look at the object, I saw that it was a hemisphere-shaped chunk of stone.
However, a wooden door has been installed in the center, and it seems to be hollow inside.
Hmm, is this a shrine? If Freesia hadn't mentioned it, I'd have just walked right past it.

'I can't believe it's in here. I wonder if it's worshipping something.

It must have been built to pray for a good catch!

'It sure looks like it but it's built so far out of the way that you can't even see the town yet.

It's not very convincing when Noll says it, but praying for a good catch sounds like a possibility.
But it seems too far away to build here it doesn't look like they're fishing around here.

'So what's going on in Freesia's view? I don't see anything unusual about it, though.

'Well? I don't see anything unusual in the map app.

As for Freesia, who said she was curious, she ignored such a shrine and walked around the area, scurrying around and moving her head.
What, I thought this was what was bothering you.
You really don't know what you're talking about.

As we looked at her, she suddenly began to hold her bow up, as we tried to leave her alone until she felt better.
Then she turned the arrow back on, and shot an arrow into an empty space.
It's a very good idea to have a good idea of what you're looking for.
 ........What is this guy doing?

"...Oh that's funny. There's nothing there.

You can tell just by looking at it. What's wrong with you that you're firing your bow at them?

Freesia is a very sensitive child, you know. She must have felt something.

Is that so?

Hmm, maybe it was, maybe it wasn't.

Which way?

That's pretty vague.

Freesia crosses her arms and tilts her head back, grunting and groaning.
I'm tempted to get my head around the unintelligible behavior over here.......
You've got an inherent ability and a keener sensibility than Nol, so you were scared that there really was something to it.
Since there is a shrine like this, it has a certain atmosphere.
But I don't feel like there's anything here, and neither does Noor or Estelle seem to understand.

I don't know. It's my imagination, it's my imagination!

What was that all about ... well, whatever. Let's get going then........hmm?

Nothing in particular, I concluded, and then the map app responded.
Beyond this shrine, 10 red dots suddenly appeared in the ocean beyond the cliffs.
Whoa, where did these guys come from!

There's something coming out of the ocean! Watch out!

'Brother, this is a quay, you don't need to be that careful, do you?'

That's true. Even if a demon came, it would not be able to climb up.

'Would you rather I sniped it from here? My arrows would shoot through even underwater!

 That's right, we're on a cliff.
The distance from sea level would be about 20 meters with room to spare.
There's no way the sea demons can climb up here, and when they do, Freesia and Esther can attack from above and shoot them down.
Thinking that, I was waiting for the demons while looking at the map app........

'They're here--? Funny, I don't see you.

He's in the same position as us on the map app.
But there is no shadow or shape. I looked up and down the precipice and he was nowhere to be found.
For a moment I wondered if it was a glitch in the map app, but soon enough, the Nors started screaming.

'Okura-dono! It's too fast to see clearly, but there's something out there!

Ha! You're going too fast! Even I can't go for it!

 What? You're already there?
Both Noor and Freesia are busily moving their heads, but they can't attack and are just confused.
Oh man........I'm not just attacking them, I can't even see them at all.......

But I'm only close to them, but so far they haven't attacked me.
As I was thinking this, I could feel my strength gradually being drained from my body.
Oh, this is bad. He's doing something to you.
But there's no way to attack it, so I'll just run away for now... The moment this thought crossed my mind, I thought.

"Eh!

Esther waved her wand as she called out.
Then a magician's circle unfolds at our feet and a thin black film covers the surroundings.
At the same time, multiple objects appeared in the air.
It has a white cylindrical body with wings on both sides.
The body is entangled with the thin black membrane deployed by Esther in a thread-like manner, and it seems that this guy is the monster that attacked us.

''This, this is........Estelle, thank God.

'Hmm, you're welcome. You're fast, but you flew so close to us to attack us, you could have easily caught us.

I mean, you're the one who saved me...

Catching a demon that is so fast that Noll and the others can't catch it, as expected of Esther.
Since you have a purple grimoire before I knew it, is this a dark magic restraint system?
It seems to have been a good match against this demon.

It's not as if they were attacking you, but what in the world were they doing to you? I could definitely see the strength leaving my body, but...

''From my senses, you could tell that the magic was being sneaked out of my body. That gave me a general idea of where it was, too.

'Let's see your status before we take you down. You don't know what they've done to you, and just drink the potion, just in case.

Even so, it's a strange looking demon.
What in the world was it attacking us?

 ------
Species: Skyfish
 Level: 60
 HP: 200
 MP:1200
 Attack Power:0
 Defensive Power:10
 Agility:520
 Magic Resistance:0
 Intrinsic Ability Floating
 Skill Absorption. Demon absorption.
------

 That's a f*cking UMA!
I mean, this guy has too much of an agility specialization!
And it absorbs both HP and MP, it's too evil!
That's what caused my body to lose strength!

I finished checking the status, so I took care of everything in a flash.
In addition, no drop items were dropped.

So far, I feel like I've done nothing but waste my time and effort in dealing with them.
It's just too scary to have this kind of thing around here.

I'm sure you'll be able to find out what this strange monster is.

We didn't expect a sudden attack from the sea, sir.

'Yes. Could it be that the arrows Freesia fired were flying towards the herd?

'Yeah! It's not...maybe?

'I don't care either way, but you're not going to be shooting arrows randomly anymore. At least say a word before you shoot.

Yes, sir.

We decided to walk away from here as soon as possible, as we didn't want more people to come over.
Oh dear, it's a terrible disaster to stop here.
I guess I'll just head back to Sevalia.
