21-Episode 19: Different World Class Conference (2nd)

The class buzzed loudly after Kyousuke's words. Although not even half of the total number of classmates were here, it still seemed to have brought a shock. After all, the classmates also have some unfinished business with their former world. Kyousuke looks at Harui (Harpy) and Harui also glares at Kyousuke.
Harui is unable to say anything back to Kyousuke. Just as Kyousuke is about to say something, one of the onlooker students raises his hand.

'Ah, can I have a word?'

Salmon Ichiro Uozumi. He is a schoolboy who was reincarnated as a half-fishman (Gilman). He is the leader of one of the search teams, the head of the team.
Kyousuke and Harui temporarily broke their standoff and looked at him.

'This is the first I've heard of Serena-san having a Japanese in her hometown, but I'm close to Utsurogi in my opinion. At this point in time, I don't think it's right to comment on whether or not Serena-san is useful.
Annie!

His twin sister, Masuyo (Mermaid), pulls his fins from beside Salmon Ichiro.

'But then what do you want that girl to do? In fact, you couldn't do that before, trusting me with so many things, could you?
'Oh no, yes. Yes, but..... No, but in the first place, I don't know if there's any need for Serena-san to do that kind of practical work...

The power relationship between the Uozumi siblings is still dominated by their sister. However, their exchange, combined with the earlier exchange between Kyousuke and Harui, posed a problem for the remaining classmates. There were probably a good number of students who felt uncomfortable about holding onto a foreign object called Serena like the rest of the students. Overhearing their discussion, Kyousuke let out a light sigh.

''Good job, Utsurogi-kun.''
Yeah, yeah. And Himemizu.

Kyousuke and Rin exchanged words with each other, but Harui's grim face had not yet been released.

''Oi, that's not going to happen if you try to make it all mumbo-jumbo like that.
'Uh, yeah. Well.....

Kyousuke scratched his head. Well, even though he was able to change the mood of Serena's exclusion a little bit, it was still true that she had torn the sailor suit that was being held for Harui, well, it was true. When Kyousuke looked at Serena, she came forward unintentionally and bowed her head in a bow.

''I'm sorry.... I may not be sorry to apologize, but........ I'm sorry.........''
Tsk.

Harui clicked his tongue and averted his gaze.

'So? What are we going to do now?
I think we need to have a class discussion about that as well.

Kyousuke glanced at the onlooker students who were buzzing about.
There were probably a good number of students like Uozumi and his brother who had a certain amount of calmness about the current situation. We need to talk about it in order to reintegrate the opinions within the class. The current situation is too much of a burden on Ryuzaki, and Ryuzaki honestly doesn't think he's able to handle all of the situations correctly either.
It is also in regards to the treatment of Serena.
Kyousuke looked at Serena, who looked completely dejected. Even if he had only heard a few words, her knowledge of the situation was a big deal. Probably, Kyousuke wasn't the only student who had dodged words with Serena and come into contact with her knowledge. If you draw out more and more of it, it will surely be useful. There must be students who think that way too.

''Oi, Utsurugi!

Kyousuke turned around as Uozumi/brother called out to him from behind.

''I'm going to go to Ryuzaki's place now to suggest that we cancel tomorrow's search and have a class meeting, is there anything you want to say to me?''
No, not really.

Kyousuke said with a light wave of his hand. The Uozumi and the others slithered out of the cafeteria as it was. Kyousuke finally let out a sigh there.

''Huh...''
"Kyosuke! You are so full of it! d*mn you!
Yo Ei, good job.
Totally.

Wisp Ei is pudgy and angry, puffing up big time. This is always the same.
Spiderzaki and the others keep a little distance from Serena, trying not to make too much eye contact with her, and begin to get lost in their respective tasks again. Harui also leaves the cafeteria. Once again, though, the "team useless" is left in the surroundings.

Wow, what's going to happen to me now...?
'I honestly don't know. Maybe I'll be treated better from now on, maybe I'll be treated worse. And that's what we're going to discuss in class tomorrow, I suppose.

Ei said in a trembling voice, perhaps while keeping his mind as calm as possible.

'Perhaps I'll have to face your somewhat uncomfortable treatment head on. You're a valuable source of information for us.''
A valuable source of information...?
Like I said, we don't know anything about the world.

It's time for the class as a whole to face this situation head on. "The presence of the Red Winged Demon and the Wildness Worm will not make this base safe. We can't stay here and live in peace forever.
I don't know if there is anything else I can rely on, either. But in that sense, the heavy cruiser in the wilderness and the Serena are two of the few clues we have to this world.

'What is the pattern of things getting worse, for example?'
"...should we ever make our way to the Eastern Kingdom...

Kyousuke puts his hand to his chin and thinks about it.

'We're an army of monsters, so we might get attacked. Or maybe we'll hold Serena-san hostage then.'
'Huh....

 Serena gasped.

Anyway, it's a class meeting. It's a wishful thinking suggestion, even for Ryuzaki, who has had his fill of it by now. I hope that the meeting will give us a little more insight into the direction of this class's otherworldly life.

And so, the next day, the 2nd Otherworld Class Meeting was held. It was chaired by Ryuzaki. It was held in the cafeteria.

Most of them were to attend, but some students were absent. Koganei and Inugami (Warwolf). Also, Harao (Pharaoh) is also absent. Initially, Serena and Zekou were going to be allowed to attend as well, but since the topic of discussion was about the future policy of the class and Serena herself, she was also sent out of the cafeteria at the stage of the meeting.
Kyousuke and the others would naturally attend. They were grouped together in a corner, but Sakuma, sitting next to Ryuzaki, gave him a small wave, and he waved back. Further next to her, Benii was sitting bored.

''This meeting, but we decided to hold it at the suggestion of Uozumi and the others. I'm very grateful to everyone for suggesting that this kind of meeting be held.

There was no stagnation in Ryuzaki's words as he spoke from the temporarily created chairperson's seat. As expected of a chairman, he was used to it.

Let's see. I'm sure you'll be able to find out more about this. Asuka.
Hmmm....

Beni boredly scratched his own fingers and then used the blood to create an elephantine letter in the air.
Firmly in Japanese, it read, 'Future class policy' and 'Treatment of Serena'. Ryuzaki continued to speak while pointing at it.

''Those two. I've been vague about them until now, so I feel bad about that. Yesterday, Utsurogi brought information that there are Japanese people in Serena-san's country. I think most of the students who were not there have already heard about it through word of mouth.

 Ryuzaki looked around the class.

'I want to hear everyone's honest opinion. I want to go back to my old world. How many of you want to go back to being human?

The words caused a murmur in the class. Everyone may have their own feelings, but not once did we share them. It was because we were hesitant to put them into words and discuss them. Maybe he was turning away from it.

'Before that, Ryuzaki,'

Uozumi's brother (Gilman) raised his hand and said, "Well, Serena-san, we'd like to ask you about the Japanese who are in your hometown.

'Well, I want to ask you about the Japanese you say are in Serena-san's hometown.
Yeah, I'm sorry.

Ryuzaki flipped through the documents at hand and spoke again.

'This is something I've confirmed with the person in question, Serena-san has a younger brother. His name is Kyousuke. Its meaning is both 'echo' and 'save'. In other words, it has a kanji that can be addressed to. Serena-san doesn't have this one.

A murmur spread through the class.

'So when I asked for more information, I found out that Serena's name was named after her mother and her brother's name was a formality of their father's homeland.

In other words, there was a high probability that the father was Japanese. Ryuzaki further mentioned what Serena had told him, that his father had black hair and black eyes. At this point, it's almost a certainty.

'Serena's father is probably Japanese. I heard that he is busy traveling around the country at the moment. But if you go to Serena's country, there might be a hint of a way back to your old world. That's what I'm talking about. I don't know.
I don't really care which one you're talking about.

In the midst of the rambling discussion, the first one to raise his hand was Govinda (Goblin).
Okumura (Orc), sitting beside him, also nodded with his arms crossed.

You don't have to go back to where you came from to get your sister. If you want to go back, fine, but if you don't want to go back, fine. As long as I get to live in this world, I'll live in yours.
I'm with you, fatass.

After receiving their words, Rin caught up with Kyousuke, ''Ogbukawara-kun, your parents also died in an accident early on,'' she said. I see, so, after losing his only sister as well, Govunawara does not have a strong sense of regret for his former world. The same is true for Okumura. He lives his life to the fullest in order to fulfill the will of Gofukawara's sister. The difference between the two worlds has nothing to do with it.

Maybe it's the same for me.

Beni said as he fiddled with his fingernails. The blood letters floating in the air read, 'Either way, three votes'.
Several students then began to raise their hands to that 'Either way'. Kyousuke softly asks Rin.

'Which one are you, Himemizu?'
I want to go home. You know what to do.

Rin's voice was a bit resentful.
Surely, she wanted to go back to her former world, for obvious reasons. It wouldn't just be that she was an ace sprinter. She wouldn't say it, but her home environment would be good, and there were probably plenty of other things she felt unhappy about.

'I see. Well, of course you do.
The half-eaten pudding in the fridge...! They might throw it away...!
You've got to let it go.

I can feel the dirtiness of Himemizu Rin's eating habits when she says she's about to eat.

''I'm naturally inclined to leave too, but it's up to Kyousuke.
Don't be so cautious. I'm leaving.

As the number of "either way is fine" opinions grew, another student raised his hand spiritedly.

'I'm going home.'

It's Megumi Kenzaki (Dullahan). She is a Kendo girl and a demon customs officer. And she is a headless female knight. The head on the desk spoke loud and clear.

'I'm following Ryuzaki's instructions because he gave me a speech about returning to my former world. To be honest, I'm not sure if life in the original world was enriched, well, I wasn't happy with it.... Still, it's a lot better than lingering in this wacky world.

And as he lifted his head, he said, 'I'm crippled! I exclaimed.
Kenzaki's opinion is probably almost identical to that of many of his classmates. It has already been more than three weeks since I stopped being human. Although I've gotten used to this body by now, the dungeon, which is still stagnant, is still the base of my life. The thought of having to live like this for a long time is unbearable.

I can't even take care of my nails.

 Harui also stands up, frustrated.

'Is there anyone else who wants to leave?'

When Ryuzaki asked, a hand went up here and there from the class. Among them was Sakuma. She, too, seems to be frustrated because she hasn't been able to touch the books she loves since she arrived in this world. Both Rin and Ei assert themselves in their own ways, though they can't raise their hands, and Kyousuke follows suit.
The blood letters drawn by Benii change as Ryuzaki counts.

''You don't want to go home, Kurumori and others?''

Ryuzaki asked Kurumori (Gremlin), who hadn't raised his hand at all.

''Well I can't say either way. I'm on hold.''

The other students nodded one by one.

''Wow, me too......... I might not want to lose this power........''

Hanazono (Alraune), who is in charge of the family garden, also muttered in a small voice. Ryuzaki was a little silent, but only replied with a short, one word, 'I see.

''We can't decide on this much by majority vote, you know. If there is someone who says they don't want to leave, I want to respect their opinion. It's just,

Cut there, Ryuzaki looked around the class in a circle.

''It's just that right now we're at a point where the class has to come together and set goals. I'm thinking that we should leave this dungeon first. I don't think any of us are going to be happy living here forever.

Ryuzaki's words caused a murmur in the class again. His opinion was this.
The reddish-brown wilderness outside the labyrinth is far too harsh for a habitat. Whether he wanted to return to his original world or live in this one, he should make a move for a better place. To do so, we must first head east and make contact with the humans of Serena's country.
The juvenile body of the Wildness Worm has also been found on the 11th underground level. It's not certain when the dungeon itself will collapse due to an attack by worms and other monsters of a different species.

So, how do we get out of this wilderness as safely as possible? "Dusk forest.
Oh...

Kurumori, who was in the corner of the cafeteria, slinked forward. In her hand was a large piece of paper, and as Kurumori handed it to Sakuma, she used her magic to unfold the paper and raise it into the air.
It looked as if it was a drawing of some large ship.

The voices around them grew louder, but Kyousuke already knew from Ryuzaki's consultation with him.

'A proposal to refurbish the decaying heavy cruiser in the wilderness into a land-based ship came from Kurumori. As of yesterday, the supplies we had asked the search team to search for are usually materials for that purpose. Well, there are many challenges, but in the end, Kuremori concluded that 'it's not technically impossible'. Gokugawara is currently negotiating with the bosses of the goblins living in the heavy cruiser.''

The gloomy Kurumori deflected his chest with a bit of pride.

Ryuzaki knew that Kyousuke had dabbled in social games that anthropomorphized battleships when he was a human. So he asked for help with drawing and documentation, but in the end, Kyousuke is a niwaka who doesn't know the difference between a heavy and a light cruiser. He had recommended Koganei, who had been mishandled by the squad and had become a source of embarrassment to him.
Ryuzaki was also wondering whether or not to call on Koganei, but in the end, with Kyousuke's recommendation, he himself became the one to underwrite him.

The outlandish suggestion of refurbishing a heavy cruiser into a land-based ship naturally caused a stir in the class. However, as long as Kurumori's race ability as a gremlin and the necessary materials could be secured, it was not impossible. Since it was Kurumori who had previously restored the water supply system in the labyrinth, he was highly reliable.

'We'll also have a flower garden vegetable garden on the deck. Although it will be a shared room, it should be possible to allocate private rooms. Well, I think the living environment will be better than it is now.
But, Ryuzaki...

Crossing his arms, Kenzaki made a difficult noise as he crossed his arms.

''You're heading to Serena's country on that land ship? I have a feeling they're going to be wary, as expected.
That's next on the agenda, as well.

Ryuzaki smiled bitterly and returned the drawing of the land-based ship to Kurumori. Kurumori curled up the drawing and hiked back to his seat.
The atmosphere of the class was not a bad one. Perhaps it was the impact of the land-based ship presented by Ryuzaki. I'm sure that the image of the "future" that had been floating around until now, became much more concrete. I don't know how far Ryuzaki intended to keep the information about the ship secret, but it seems to me that it was a good decision to go public at this meeting.

The next item on the agenda is finally the matter of how to handle Serena. With everyone in the class looking firmly at Ryuzaki, the class meeting moved on to the next agenda item.

In the end, Koganei did not participate in the class meeting. The reason is, well, simply because it was "uncomfortable" for him to be there. Ryuuzaki told him to join the meeting without hesitation, but after all, Koganei didn't have the courage to do so. As a result, he was now wandering around the base, bored out of his mind.
The job that Ryuzaki had newly entrusted Koganei with was a pleasure to him, and even now, nearly a month later, his favorite knowledge was not easily rusted away, and Koganei spent all day writing down his knowledge of cruisers and battleships on the paper Ryuzaki had prepared for him.

However, he still couldn't bring himself to show up for the class meeting.

Wandering down the corridor, Koganei spotted a girl walking down the corridor, equally bored and bored out of her mind.

''Ah........''
Oh...?

The girl spun around and turned around and smiled at Koganei.

'Hello, Koganei-san. Are you unable to attend the meeting?
'Oh, um.... Yeah.

Koganei scratches his head and looks away awkwardly.

It's Serena. The new student. It was nice of her to speak to me, but she was nailed by Mushikasa (Matango) and the other boys to 'stay away'. I couldn't help but think that since we were in a meeting right now, I shouldn't have to worry about it, but as Koganei, who was completely back in the mindset of a bully, I was still uncomfortable.

''I'm, well, I mean, they don't like me...''
Oh, I heard. I heard you did it.

Serena put her hands on her hips and nodded yes. Koganei's face fell. What, someone was talking about it?

''I only heard it from people, so I'm halfway there. Well, yeah. No? You shouldn't do that.
Where were we...?
'I guess I was just trying to save myself by selling out Kumosaki-san and Wasio-san...'

I mean, all of them. Koganei felt the urge to run away even more.

''Well you despise me, don't you?''

I blurted out. What would be the point of talking about this? Koganei was getting more and more disgusted with himself. Whether it was affirmed or denied, all that remained was a feeling of disgust.
But Serena put her hand to her chin, tilted her head and said, "I'm not going to let you go.

"If you're aware that you've done something so bad that you're despised, have you apologized, properly?
...What?
Kinogasa-san said. He said he's not even sorry for what he did.

Koganei looks up with a huff. Apology. That's right. I hadn't done that.

'If I do something wrong, I'll be sorry and apologize. It's only natural. I'm a human, Koganei-san is an elf, and the rest of you are dragonoids or skeletons, but since you can understand the language, that's not going to change, is it?
Uh, yeah...
'Well, there are some things you can't take back even if you apologize...'

Serena's eyes suddenly lost their sparkle as she leaned against the wall and looked at the ceiling. She was a girl whose expression was shifting rapidly.

She certainly hadn't apologized. Not even to anyone in the class. Ryuuzaki and the others hadn't noticed because they treated her with the same attitude. And yet, it might have been a bit of a bugger to try to get them to treat him like a human being.
But will I really be forgiven for apologizing?
What would he do if he was not forgiven?

He had it coming. You've brought this on yourself. You can't take back what you've done.
Fear that he might not be forgiven even if he apologized. Koganei knew that for the first time.

''What if........you don't forgive me?''
Oh, that's..... What should I do........

Serena let her gaze wander. Well, you don't know. Of course.
However, after getting the obvious option of 'apologizing', Koganei's head cleared up a bit. First of all, since Washio--- is scary, should he go apologize to Ryuzaki and Kyousuke? But to apologize to Kyousuke, Ei is scary. You have to bow to Sakuma, Kumizaki, and Rin as well.

Will I really be able to apologize?

That's when Koganei was thinking about it.

'Ah.'

Serena let out a small voice.
When she turned her gaze to wonder what was wrong, she saw an unfamiliar figure in the corner of Koganei's eye.

Unfamiliar, not unfamiliar, but never seen was correct. The figure slowly approached when it noticed Koganei and the others. It was a tall man, dressed in black armor. He didn't wear a helmet, so only his face was clear, but his skin was sallow and dark, with a chiseled build. And on his back, he had red wings that seemed to burn with blood.
 Red wings.
When Koganei saw that, he finally realized that the man was a foreign enemy.

''Ho. An elf....no, a high elf.....

The man grinned, alternately looking at Koganei and Serena.
The shock of having spoken, the shock of having spoken, was the first thing that rushed through his mind. He had a way of communicating with the other man. However, the man in front of me is clearly not human, unlike Serena. I don't know what the hell he's here for. And, from what I've heard, it was probably this red-winged man who destroyed Serena's troops.
But despite Koganei's confusion, the man continued.

''It looks like we've drawn quite an interesting species.
Eh....
At this rate, you can expect more.
What are you talking about...
But for now, let them sleep.

The man---that is, the red-winged demon, as soon as he said it, grabbed Koganei's head in an eagle grip and threw it toward the wall with great force as it was.
