34-The delight of the crowd and the back of the cat

Eight o'clock in the morning. A large number of workers are on their way to their workplaces. A huge monitor projected in the air that could be seen from a distance, and on the first platform, Tsutomu and the three PTs were exploring the fifty-nine levels.

A few years ago, this was a clan that was preeminent among the major clans. Camille, who was the center of that clan, was quick to find the black gate because she understood the structure of the fifty levels well. Furthermore, contrary to her tall and slender body that the town's girls would adore, she would take down monsters with a huge big sword and batter them to the ground. Her appearance is quite a crowd-pleaser, and her former popularity has many supporters.

And recently, there was also a lot of talk about Garum, the mad dog who didn't go down at all, even when he was taking on many monsters. Every time he appeared on the monitor, the yellow voices of the ladies and town girls echoed.

In comparison, Tsutomu is just waving his staff from behind, recovering, skipping support skills, and flying instructions in a pompous tone of command. Combined with the article from Solit Company, the crowd's opinion of him was the worst.

The majority of the crowd thought that Garum and Camille were the reason why they were able to get to the fifty-nineth level. Although a small portion of the audience was attracted by the curiosity of Tsutomu's flying skills, the article by Solitte's company in front of them made them feel bad. So they didn't openly appreciate Tsutomu's performance.

But among the spectators, they were the most knowledgeable, so to speak, labyrinth maniacs, who had been watching various platforms for many years and knew more about them than a poor explorer. From those people, Tsutomu was also somewhat appreciated by them.

To begin with, fifty-level canyons and gorges are usually challenged by a maximum of five PTs. It's not just the canyons, but the canyons from the fifty-sixth level are full of continuous battles with monsters, and even the famous five-man PTs in mid-level clans are often seen to be wiped out.

The fact that he challenged the canyon with a three-man PT and reached the 59th level alone is worthy of recognition. It doesn't matter how strong Camille and Garum are, if their efforts are weak, they will always die in the PT. However, none of the PT members have been seen dead even once.

Plus the various three skills that fly from Tsutomu. Ochre protection. Blue Haste. Green Heel. They come out of Tsutomu's staff and head precisely to Garum and Camille. Despite fighting monsters and being out of sight of the two of them, the labyrinth maniacs admire him for the precision with which he is able to unleash his tricolor skills.

Then it was past nine o'clock. Most of the workers began to work at their workplaces, and the main spectators who watched the first table were the ladies, children, and workers who happened to be off on beggars. And everyone was surprised that those three PTs had dived through the black gate to the sixty levels. The crowd was sure that they wouldn't challenge the fire dragon either.

''Huh? I'm in, those guys.
Have you three not seen this before? Then we'll see how it goes.
No, I'll go and get some cheap equipment for that. Camille's greatsword was the real thing.
Well, you wanted to see how it's going to go, didn't you?
Oh. I'm gonna die in my first bracelet and then I'm gonna have lunch.
Likewise.
I'll give you a second shot. I've got fire in my backpack.
What? Garum can withstand three blows. I got lunch on this one.
The roar would kill us all anyway.

The labyrinth enthusiasts begin to chat in private, happily. The ladies are holding their mouths in amazement and the children are overjoyed to see a fire dragon, raising their hands in the air. The people near the first table begin to buzz and begin to pay attention to the three PTs as they enter the black gate and disappear into particles.

The only clan that has recently challenged the fire dragons is the Golden Wolfman-led Golden Investigation. Aldoret Crow, which has the largest number of enrolled clan members, is all about wyvern hunting. The Red Demon Clan, which has only about ten or so members enrolled among the major clans, is busy making up for the huge deficit that came out during the last fire dragon defeat.

So the spectators haven't been able to see the fire dragon except for the golden examination. Even if they expected it would be over soon, those in the front row of the first stand were excitedly watching the monitors. Even those who seemed disinterested due to Tsutomu's bad reputation, however, turned around and started watching the first stand with interest.

After entering the 60th level, by the time Tsutomu finished applying his support skills, a fire dragon flew out of the valley with its long, slender body wavering like a snake. And a roar resounded that would surely terrify those who heard it for the first time. A few light screams from the ladies and children. Others mouthed oohs and ahhs as if they were watching fireworks.

Most first-time clans usually froze themselves with this roar and were burned by the fire dragon's breath. The crowd looks at the three men projected, thinking that this PT will be the same.

While Camille and Garum froze with blue faces and trembling, only Tsutomu covered one ear and looked abominably at the fire dragon with a May-ish look. Then he grabbed Garum's tail and began to bring them back to their senses with a floppy slap on Camille's cheek.

''That guy! Master Garum's tail!

The fire dragon's breath envelops the three of them as the labyrinth maniacs look at the strange ladies who are rushing in. And at the same time, the light from the flashbulb turns the first stand completely white. The crowd squints a little dazzled.

Then Tsutomu destroys the crystal on his forehead as the fire dragon's eyes are crushed. The crowd starts to get a little excited at the three of them holding it longer than expected, and the labyrinth maniacs crack the crystal into Tsutomu's flowing flashlight bottle. Their tongues were wagging at his moves, which were not very new to them.

Then the two of them confronted the fire dragon, leaving Camille, who was sitting on her back. The crowd shouted in admiration as Garum began to stand alone against the fire dragon. And they also begin to pay attention to Tsutomu, who is sending his recovery and support skills to Garum, who is being blown away.

'Nee-neee. What's that Midori's?
Well..... What is it?
You look radiant.

The battle continues, even though the lady with the child flouts the child's questions. And after forty minutes or so of Garum withstanding the fire dragon attack, Camille revived and the attacker, tank, and healer came together. Then about two hours passed.

''Really........''

The time it took the Red Demon Squad to defeat the Fire Dragon was three hours. The three PTs were already about to reach that time, and they hadn't died even once yet. The attention was drawn to the first platform as the three PTs fought a great battle. The streets were filled with people calling out to see the first table.

The security team, sensing the congestion, starts patrolling the street to keep the lines of spectators clear and to prevent any trouble from occurring. Stallholders pour their special sweet and spicy sauce on the hot griddle and sprinkle the area with an appetizing smell. The stallholders, attracted by the smell, buy the stir-fried meat and vegetables one after another.

It was almost lunchtime. It's almost noon, and those who have been watching the first stand are starting to feel their stomachs rumble. The crowd rushes to the open stalls and vendors. And with freshly squeezed orange juice and ale in their hands, the spectators begin to watch the first stand again.

Not to mention Garum who is attracting the fire dragons and Camille who is attacking the fire dragons, but the crowd's attention began to focus on Tsutomu who is flying his skills.

''Garm. You haven't been drinking potions, have you?
Oh, yeah. ...Maybe the lucky guy is recovering. I think that guy flying around is a heel.
Maybe they're skipping the Protectorate too. That brown one.

It was an unusual scene from the crowd's point of view that no green potions had been used in a long battle. It was now common knowledge from the battle methods of the major clans that green potions were needed in large quantities to attack fire dragons. The Red Demon Clan, which had also successfully defeated the Fire Dragon, had also consumed a large amount of green potions and blue potions.

However, only Tsutomu was consuming potions in a three-man PT. And that was just drinking the blue potion once every hour. The amount of potions consumed is obviously less than the other clans.

Also, there are no more gaps in recovery compared to the other clans. Whenever you drink a potion, there will be an opening. Many of them will die in the wake of the attack. However, Garum is recovering while continuing to fight, so he is able to focus only on the fire dragons, and there are no gaps at all.

The healers of other major clan PTs would be the first to support and then hide until the opportunity to use a raise arises to avoid dying in case of an emergency. That's why this PT healer doesn't hide at all. They continue to unleash their recovery and support skills with impunity.

That way, the fire dragon's hostility would also turn to the healer, but Garum is holding the fire dragon back with his hate buying skills. Then Camille takes the opportunity to wound the fire dragon's body. Occasionally the hate would turn on Camille and she would be attacked, but the fire dragon still didn't aim at Tsutomu and attack him.

Then Camille's power slash in her dragonized state decided to cut off the fire dragon's tail. The crowd erupted at once.

''Hey, hey! We're really going to beat it!
No, there is no such thing.
But they're not dead once! That's awesome!
No, no. Those two are still around, but the lucky ones are just shooting something in the back.
What? I'm not using the green potion, okay? That's the reason he's shooting at you, isn't it?
Oh, really?

A few of the spectators other than the labyrinth maniacs begin to appreciate Tsutomu here and there. Then the workers come outside to eat their lunch break and talk to the crowd, rolling their eyes at the enthusiasm of the first group.

'What the hell, it's a great turnout. ...........................Is that a fire dragon! Gold again?
No, that's a lucky boy project. They've been fighting since maybe nine.
'Huh! Bullshit!
No, you'll know it when you see it. Look.
'Hey, it's really the three of us. What the hell are you doing diving at this time of night? Dive by night!
Oh, you're working. That's a lot of work.
'Shit! ...I'll just have a quick lunch at the lunch stall. Hey brother! How much is that?

Workers continue to gather at the boy who is peddling spit-roasts, and they begin to watch the first table from a distance with a spit-roast in hand. Garum takes on the fire dragon alone in Camille's dragonization. Then they begin to stare at Tsutomu, who is flying his tricolor skills.

After forty minutes of fighting the fire dragons, none of the three PTs have fallen, and the workers go back to their work with a sigh of regret. Some of them were dragged back to work by their workmates. They are hidden labyrinth maniacs.

The technology to take black-and-white photos is currently being developed, partly due to the discovery of treasure chests in dungeons, but the magic tool to record the transmission on a monitor has not yet been developed. That's why you can only see the video streamed on the monitor once.

So if you are conscious of the audience, it is preferable to be on Sunday, when most workers are off, or after 18 o'clock after work. However, Tsutomu was not aware of any consideration for the crowd, so the workers returned to their workplaces with a hazy feeling.

For the next four and a half hours, the three PTs continued to fight the fire dragons. It was unusual to attack a fire dragon for such a long time, and the crowd continued to gather at the first platform without getting bored. The guards were guiding the growing crowd with dead eyes and organizing the line.

''How many hours have we been fighting........''
No, what is that? What's going on?

For the spectators who were accustomed to the short term battle method of firepower supremacy through the use of potions, the long term battle method of stabilizing the battle situation and continuing the battle was truly a different dimension. Garum was deeply wounded by the indiscriminate attacks caused by the fire dragon's insane state, and Camille was almost collapsed once she was seriously injured. However, Tsutomu's flying skills and instructions kept the PT from collapsing.

The fire dragon also has a hole in its wing and one side of its face has been shaved off and it has lost one eye. The crowd was getting excited, thinking that they might actually defeat them. Only three PT's...and that's despite the fact that the fire dragons were supposed to be seeing it for the first time, they were pushing the fire dragons to this point.

But in the middle of it all, Garum reached his limit and fell over. And a high-pitched lady's scream went up as he was trampled by the fire dragon. Survival is doomed after being trampled three times by the chase, and the crowd lets out a disappointed sigh.

But a short time after Tsutomu entered the sinkhole, Garum came out, dripping with his own blood. The crowd opens their mouths in anguish. Then he threw a large shield into the fire dragon's face, and yellow cheers echoed around the first platform as Garum laughed as he bared his fangs at his fire dragon opponent.

Finally, Camille dropped the fire dragon's head from above and the fire dragon began to particulate. A cheer as if an explosion had occurred hit the square.

''He did it! Awesome!
'Hey, hey, hey! No way! Lucky man (lucky boy)!
'Haha! Oh, shit! Oh, shit!

The crowd raised their hands and waves of people swayed. Although it wasn't as exciting as the Red Demons, who had taken time into consideration so that even the workers could properly watch, this excitement was still extraordinary.

''........It's because of those two anyway!

In the midst of such loud cheers, when the bug explorer speaks abominably, the explorer maniacs around him give him a cold look.

''Well that's ugly.''
Do you have eyeballs to look at that and say that? I'm an idiot.
Hey, what are you guys doing? d*mn it! They're only as strong as their buddies! As long as my friends are strong, I can take down a fire dragon too!
Oh....
Oh, there it is, there it is.

The searcher enthusiasts looked at the bug explorers who were ranting loudly, looking down on them with pity. The eyes of the spectators around them were also cold. Defeating the fire dragon was something that no one had been able to accomplish for half a year until the Red Demon Gang defeated it. To say that the man in front of him could defeat that fire dragon was a laughingstock.

''d*mn it! Don't look at me like that! Don't look at me!

The bug explorers, who started to rampage as if they couldn't stand the stares from their surroundings, were seized and taken away by the patrolling guards. The crowd watches the three PTs frolicking in the aftermath of their victory as some of the bug seekers are captured by the guards.

'Lucky boy. That was awesome. If only that hadn't been for Amy...
She's got some skills, don't you think? I'll never forgive you for that, Amy, but...
'I heard that Garum and Camille-san have a weakness too, is it true? It doesn't feel like it.

As the three of them rambled and enjoyed the PT, some in the crowd wondered a little bit about Solit's coverage.

'No, but Amy's stuff is true. And I know the explorers I know, and they told me about it.
'Right. In fact, Amy has been ordered by a lucky man (lucky boy) to ride into Solitte's.
Well, as long as they're strong, right? It's funny, that PT, first time I've seen it, and there are three of them. Oh no.
'But you make little Amy do whatever you say, right? I envy you ... I don't forgive you!
''But we defeated it with three fire dragons........ The one that's popping away? I'm pretty sure that's partly because of that, too.
It's fine if she's a womanizer, but.... I don't like the idea of grasping a weakness and forcing him to do something.

The crowd, mouthing off to each other in front of the first table, excitedly discussed what the three PTs had accomplished for a while.

 --Oooh--.

It had been about three hours since Tsutomu and the others had challenged the fire dragon. The first stand in the guild was in great excitement. Their voices had reached the guild's quarters, and Amy had come to look at the first table in the guild, caught by their voices.

''Ah.''

The monitor showed Garum, Camille, and Tsutomu taking on the fire dragon. When Amy spoke to the guild staff who had abandoned their duties, she heard that the three of them had been fighting against the fire dragon for three hours already.

Garum distracted the fire dragons and Camille attacked them. And Tsutomu was giving them instructions while they recovered and supported them. Amy watched the scene with an irritated look on her face.

(Guild leader attacking too much. Tsutomu's giving them instructions. Oh, look, the fire dragon went that way. (You're not listening to Tsutomu properly.)

Amy was beginning to understand her role as an attacker as her body was being trained in Tsutomu's warfare techniques from the 20th level to the 50th level, and she was beginning to understand her role as an attacker. She was getting frustrated with Camille's attacks, which seemed to be unthinking.

(Why are you running as fast as you can when Tsutomu is flying the Haste? It would be easier for Tsutomu to relax a little bit there. Ahhh! God! (Frustrating!)

Amy sat unhappily in a chair in the cafeteria while thinking about what she would do, oh, and so on. A guild employee she knows smiled at her and offered her some apple juice.

Amy received it with an innocent smile after rolling her eyes, and watched the three of them attack the fire dragon while gulping it down. Then she groaned that this was how the PT looked like from the outside again.

(I want to replace the guild leader right now. Moo! I would have been able to fit in better with Tsutomu and make better use of the doggie! (Uh...)

Amy stared at the monitor, annoyed at the messy standings of the guild leader as they came out one after another. The cat ears on top of her head stand up in a pinch, and her thin tail is wagging grimly.

(.........Garum is really sturdy for nothing. Well, he's doing well alone against a fire dragon.)

Amy mutters inwardly to Garum, who shows no signs of falling at all while being flung away by the fire dragon's tail, something that she would never say. Then Tsutomu appears on the monitor, waving his staff while giving instructions in the air.

'Camille! Three more blows and the attack stops! Garum! Recovery!
None!
'Hey! Ten minutes to the barrier! Keep it up!

As he says this, he flies his protection to Garum. And once Camille is pulled away, Tsutomu is calling out to her this and that. Amy takes a bite of the hot fries blessed by the staff while thinking that from the outside she's being quite vocal.

(They're flying like that from the outside........ I don't know when I'll be calling out Garm...)

Once he wields his staff, his protection and heel head to Garum as a set, and Tsutomu is able to hit Camille with his heist just before the effect wears off, with a small clamor for the effect time of the heist. If you release a support skill in a way that overrides the extra effect time, you'll have to use more skills for that amount of time, making it easier to earn the fire dragon's hate. So Tsutomu always applied his support skills to the two just before the effect time expired.

(When did Fry become so good at that too? I was falling into the ocean all the time.)

The white robe became heavy with seawater and Tsutomu had a high probability of drowning when his fly failed and he fell into the water. Amy, who had saved him from that many times, admired the way he was flying through the air and flying his support skills.

And after Camille turned into a dragon, the fire dragon's body began to show noticeable scars. Its long tail was severed and its wings had holes in them, and one of its golden eyes was crushed.

(It's still a movement that doesn't think about anything but............................Guild Chief is amazing. (And Tsutomu matches it well, too)

Even as she picked at the small dishes that were being placed more and more like tribute from the guild staff, Amy watched the first table as she devoured it. She was more confident that she could match Tsutomu's movements than Camille. But she couldn't move like an outsider like Camille in that dragonized state.

(It looks like I can beat this already. Huh...)

Amy sighed very loudly as she was convinced that if the battle situation was this stable, even with the previous trends, she would be able to defeat the fire dragons.

(I wouldn't be able to make such an outrageous move. Maybe it was a good thing that the guild leader came in instead, after all. (I guess I wasn't strong enough.)

Amy, who hadn't seen Camille's abomination at the beginning of the game, shook her throat with a shake. Even that Camille hadn't been able to defeat the fire dragon despite the fact that seven hours had already passed. Amy clenched her fists in frustration as she was confronted with her lack of ability.

And when Garum fell over and was trampled repeatedly by the fire dragon, Amy couldn't help but sit up. But even after receiving that one, she sat down as if she was dumbfounded to see Garum come out with an unconcerned look on his face.

And looking at the three of them who were frolicking in a friendly manner after defeating the fire dragon, a single drop spilled from Amy's eyes. After wiping it off, Amy returned to the guild quarters with a tottering gait.
