22-Encounter with demons

It was still early in the morning.
Ars and Loki woke up at about the same time. It could be said that there was no need for a timer to wake them up, especially for these two.
It was only after all the preparations were made that they exchanged a few words while they started to act briskly as if on a mission.

'What shall we have for breakfast?'
It's easy to do. Sorry.

It is already Loki's role to prepare the meals. Since it's something he likes to do, Ars doesn't have any memory of sharing a role.

Loki stands in the kitchen with a look on his face as if he has no idea what he's doing now.

Ars glanced through the window at the scene outside. The weather in the outside world cannot be seen from within the protective wall, but it seems somewhat clear. Maybe it was because it was time for the sun to finally start peeking out.

It's a simple meal, but still a healthy and well-balanced menu.
After the meal, Ars exhales with a cup of fragrant tea and scoops up the robe that is hanging on his fingers and puts it on.

''Shall we go?''
Yes, sir.

Students are allowed to buy their own battle clothes. Of course, even a uniform is a sufficient substitute for battle clothes.

Loki, as usual, heads out in his uniform. It's not that he's going to be fighting in particular. However, it could be said that the uniform that has been modified by the arrangement is also Loki's specification as a combat uniform.

When I left the research building, there were still no students in sight.
This is probably due to the fact that it is quite early in time. The main school building where the teachers are located seems to be getting ready as the room is lit up even from outside.

It's probably a little after four in the morning.
Extracurricular activities are scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. Considering the preparations, it's not a problem if the staff members arrive before 7:00 a.m.

The two of us are on the roof of the research building.

I'm going to run to the headquarters to do some prep work, but what about Loki?
I'd like to join you.

Ars joked, "Don't be late," and kicked the roof.
It was hard to tell what Ars's masked face looked like, but the edges of his mouth would be up.

The two of them would soon reach the most defensive wall. This is not how an ordinary magician would do it.
Ars didn't breathe a single breath, and as the word suggests, it was like a preparation exercise.
Loki's breathing was also in a constant rhythm, and his body only warmed up.

You can see a glimpse of the wizards for surveillance in the surrounding area, but no one is to blame for the two of them, especially the masked Ars. That's probably because they saw Loki's uniform, too.
It was inevitable that they would have to look a second time instead.

They slowly dove under the protective barrier emitted by Babel.
They were used to the prickly, protective wall's unique magical wavelength when they dove under.

 The landscape changes completely.
The first thing to do is to take a deep breath.

''I knew this place was good.

The sky is clear, the sun is shining divinely from the distant mountain ridges, and my eyes are glowing brightly. The sensation of clean air filling your lungs is always a good one to experience.

Loki loosens his cheeks and smiles at Ars's musings to himself.

''With this, detection should be no problem.
Yeah.
What do you want to do? There are a couple of them in a one-kilometer radius.
Well, I don't want any more trouble for the early morning strike force anyway.
I understand.

Ars has been able to capture it. But that doesn't mean he's tactless.

By the time the two of them arrived at the headquarters, taking a slow detour, the faculty and the reinforcements were ready to go.

Even though Ars was wearing a mask, it wasn't certain that he and Loki wouldn't realize that he was with Loki, so he received only what he would receive (.......) and quickly went to work.

''How is your sensitivity, Ars-sama?''
No problem.

Ars told him that it was good to go to the wavelength transmitter and receiver device attached to his ear.
It's a communication device that delivers audio at the wavelength of magic power. The communication device is called a "consensor" and is made of a mineral with a unique audible frequency.

We're currently six kilometers northeast.
Copy that, sir. "No high-rate response in detection so far.
All right. As soon as we have confirmation, we will terminate it.
"Thank you.
You're in charge.

 After a brief pause.

I'll take care of it.

The sound of a voice filled with determination. With that, the communication is cut off once and for all.

For Ars, the rate is as low as a miscellaneous soldier.
Even if they reduce it, the useless damage will scatter the blood of the demons.
If that happens, there is a possibility that the demons will gather even in the daytime. Ars accurately targets the demon's nucleus, and then kills it. Or even the nuke was slaughtered in one hit.

Low-rate demons basically have a small physique, such as the shape of a beast. Of course, there are exceptions depending on the type, but there are few reported cases of confirmation in this area. In other words, if there are any, the size of the demons would be about the same size as a human at best.
It was quicker to chop up the whole thing than to go to the trouble of crushing only the nucleus. This is because the body of a demon will decay if it loses its nucleus.

When I finished taking care of nearly thirty demons, I received a communication from Loki.

"Now the extracurricular lesson will be held.
Yes, sir.

 ♢♢

The students had gathered in the plaza before the protective wall, the starting point.
The chancellor was there to signal the start of the event.

Most of the students are either wearing uniforms or training clothes as battle clothes. Tesfia and Alice are also in their uniforms as usual.

They have already met as a group and final confirmation discussions can be seen everywhere.

In addition to the four-digit Tesfia, Tesfia's group is accompanied by two five-digit students, two six-digit students, and a senior supervisor - a four-digit third-year Cubsol Dembel. He is the eldest son of a prominent family and has a side of rivalry with Tesfia in some way. He often interrupts in the mission field, and he is no less responsible for the amount of time spent than the other squads.

Even though it was five figures, it was still better than the members of the Tesfia, at sixty-seven thousandth place. The supervisor was sophomore Seniat Fokimil, whose ranking didn't change much. Before that, he was an upperclassman who was something of a caring senior, as he was of the same gender.

''With that, we will now conduct our extracurricular activities.

All of the students' eyes went to the chancellor at once.

''If anything happens, reinforcements will be on the way, and I'll be able to send out a distress signal to the supervisors just in case, so I hope you all will be able to do your best to make the most of your daily work.

It was a fairly bland greeting, but I'm sure they've already heard the necessary information.
And at the same time as the signal to start, they went under the protective wall one after another.
However, the students stood on their feet as they passed through.

Their faces can be described in one word: overwhelming. This is the first time I've seen the outside world!
And no group could immediately move on from the fantastic and majestic landscape as if it were a dream or an illusion.

The same could be said for Tesfia and Alice.

'...................Great!
Beautiful!

It was lush and green, and as far as the eye could see, there was nothing modern in sight.
They were overwhelmed by tall old trees, and the senior students attached to the supervisors were no exception.
They must have even felt as if they had been transported to another world.
The one who brought more than four hundred students to their senses was Felinella, who clapped her hands.
She is also participating in this extracurricular class as a supervisor.

''It's a good target for the demons if you stay frozen.

That it was a threatening statement was evident in Felinella's dumbfounded smile, but it was enough to project consciousness into reality.

Soon, each group of people tightened their faces and scattered in all directions, each in all directions.
There was no particular goal in mind. Fighting demons is the significance of this class.
So there is no need to go deep inside, but the students are colored by curiosity and go ahead as if they were possessed by something.

Even though it had just begun, the battle had also begun at a distance that was visible in the distance.
Tesfia made up her mind and proceeded to walk cautiously.

If you start walking and go for a while - or rather, you're advancing on a roadless path created by nature, so you haven't advanced much in terms of distance.

''----stop!

As we had decided beforehand, Tesfia, who led the way, signaled a stop with her hand. The other held up a finger in front of her mouth.

I heard the faint sound of a tree branch being snatched in the distance.
He lowered his back and hid behind a tree to look at the situation.

''........!

 Something had fallen from above.
I saw something land in my vision.

It had the body of a human child, with an oddly long hand on a medium height, a lightly clenched fist landing on the ground, and an awkwardly shaped body with unnaturally small and short legs. It doesn't look like it's running on the ground by mistake. The tail, which is as long as your arm, is curled up in a circle.

His entire body is dusky black and his eyes are blood red, which makes him look even more eerie. The color and strangeness that is not in keeping with the natural world - it is exactly that of a demon. So Tesfia was convinced by digging up memories that matched the characteristics of demons and other things she learned in class.

Tesfia instructed him to make sure there were no other demons around.

'Maybe F-rate [Vellum] is one of them. I'll go around and take them out as planned.''

It is a typical demon that is introduced in class. They behave like monkeys but look like an old woman with a crooked back. It's not just a matter of time before they're ready to go.
The silent nod of the members conveyed their approval.

I'm sure you'll be able to find a way to make the most out of your time with the help of a handful of instructions, while you approach quietly and breathlessly from directly in front of them.
A branch hurt Tesfia's leg, something she wasn't used to, but she ignored it and continued to walk. The sound of my own heart, still evident when I kill for breath, is hitting the early bell.

In the lecture, we were told that they don't come down to earth very often, but I guess there is an exception to everything.
I've been observing them closely while holding such an unnatural feeling.

The demon began to scurry around and look around.

(Enlightened? (But no sign of them running...)

The other members of the group soon arrive in position as they get within range of the magic and look around.
Tesfia peeks out from behind a tree with only one eye.

(.........!)

The demon turned its head abruptly around behind it as it turned its head upside down, and eerily - humanly creepy - its mouth arched wide.

Ahead of it was the female student of the member who was taking up the rear.

'They've noticed us!

At the same time as he raised his voice, Tesfia stabbed his sword into the ground.
Magic power flowed into the blade, causing the magic formula to glow. It was a quick job that was done because I had prepared for it beforehand. A thin path of ice gushed out from the ground in a straight line towards the demon.

The demon was unable to react to the attack due to not being aware of Tesfia's presence.
Its feet stuck to the ground before it jumped up towards the member behind it.
Tesfia's magic instantly iced the demon up to its waist.

''----! ....attack!

The momentary surprise was against a result that far exceeded Tesfia's expectations. Her own magic was supposed to freeze the soles of her feet for a moment, but the reality was that she froze up to her waist and the demon was unable to move.

It went a little crazy, but the development of the attack was as planned - Tesfia would first stall them and attack them all at once with offensive magic, or AWR.
With the low ranking members, the only offensive magic that could be used was the first-grade magic [Arrow], so the damage could not be predicted. If that was the case, they decided that the basic attacks should be limited to physical attacks with AWR.

However, none of them were able to kill him with a single strike.
Finally, a blow to the head knocked him into a coma, incapacitating him, and the members smiled victoriously at Tesfia.

But - it was still too early to smile.
The demon that had been stuck behind them slowly raised its upper body.

''Ha!

Tesfia was running before he could move.
And the high swung sword cut off both of the demons before their upper bodies could climb.

''"-------!"'
I'm on my guard!

Then the nucleus in the head shattered and the demon's body crumbled to decay.
The fact that I had been listening to Ars for a long time was a good thing. Otherwise, I'm sure I would have soared without realizing it.

Thank God.

The members who said that were in a cold sweat.

''I'm sorry Miss Tesfia,''

The female student who was noticed behind him, looking down, mouthed an apology. She must have realized that it was her fault.

'Never mind, he could have noticed the rest of the group.

I can still hear the faint sounds of battle nearby.

'That's great, though. A blow.
Thank you.

I told someone else, even inwardly, how grateful I was. It was definitely the result of the training.
The response was clearly different from when he entered the school.

'I'm pretty sure it's an F-rate, because if it was an E-rate I would have struggled, you'll do it.

Cubsall, who had been hiding, praised him with a sneer and a small smile.

'Thanks,'

A cursory glance back at him.

'But I can't afford not to finish you off with a single blow, you'll have to be more diligent.

Things from above. I pointed out that this man can't use magic to finish him off. He doesn't understand that it's a stranded magic for lack of certainty in the first place.
No, maybe he understands and says it.

''Thank you for pointing that out,''

Tesfia gave her the words she wanted now to get by.

Tesfia's head had already eliminated this senior student. Thoughts were something else.
It was mainly filled with a sense of accomplishment that he had successfully defeated them, and that he had gone through the aptitude that Ars had mentioned.
