45 . Part 1 in the royal capital

It's been nearly a year since I was disowned and forced to leave my home because I gave my father too much advice.

I never dreamed that I would return to this royal capital as a frontier count and lord of a small frontier city.

We, the Liberty delegation, are being inspected for cargo at the city gates.

Looking up at the gates of the royal city, I was vaguely reminded of the events of the past.

 Aura and Aela.

Many encounters and events come to mind in bits and pieces.

I was in a daze like that, but I was quickly brought back to reality.
''My lord, about that discussion at the frontier station, Al...''
Ten of us were checking and discussing the huge amount of paperwork at the back of the wagon, when Ant People called me over and asked me for advice.

These anthropoid people - I've been aware of them since Liberty was just a village - they do a great job.
Their processing, comprehension and leadership skills are considerable, and when I asked the union ant people to handle the paperwork that used to be done by more than 100 people in the old Geghemorse town hall, only 15 of them have demonstrated even greater processing skills than before.
'What do you mean, Al? ''We are usually only entrusted with handling the affairs of the union at best, Al.
The lord has selected us for the big role of accounting in the town hall without any prejudice whatsoever. It would be a shame if we didn't respond to that.
Alea, who was an acquaintance of mine from the village at the foot of Mount Gorun, laughed happily as she said that. The other ant people (ant people) and others were laughing as well, and nodded their heads repeatedly.

So, when it was said in a revised manner, I felt somewhat embarrassed....

The guard of the Royal Capital guided me to the inn that had been prepared in advance by the Royal Capital side.

Perhaps because I'm a knight in shining armor, it's a rather opulent building.

Biblina, who belongs to the frontier city of Batcombe, is
We were told that we would be staying at the inn where Batcombe has a regular lodging in the capital tonight.

We all tried to enter the inn, including the boar who pulled the stagecoach for us.

But then men who looked like the manager of the inn came rushing in.
As for the elves but not the ants and boars....
He made a blatant expression of disgust.

This is a response due to the racial bias peculiar to the royal capital.......

'My lord, Alea and the others will take up lodging in the subhuman city.
Alea and the others laughed at that, but
'Then I'll stay with you in the subhuman town. I've got a meeting and all, so there's no point in staying with me if I can't stay with you.
As I say this, I leave the inn with Alea and the others.
'The frontier count! What, what a stupid thing to do!
The manager came after me in a panic, but
'You mustn't bother the inn here, you know. Don't mind me.
With that, I left the inn with a smile on my face.

On that foot, I headed to the Three Dragons Pavilion in the corner of the subhuman town.
"Hey, welcome.....
The goblin manager and his wife, as well as all the customers in the store, had stunned expressions on their faces when I walked into the store without any discomfort, still wearing my aristocratic formal wear.

The majority of customers in this shop are always sub-humans, and it's not often that a race visits.

 But.
When I lived in King's Landing, I used to frequent this restaurant with Erdena because I liked its food and atmosphere.

I'm not sure if it's because they are in the King's Capital and have magically changed their appearance, but the manager and his wife don't seem to know who I am and continue to stare at me with a quizzical look on their faces.

So I approached the counter and called the manager and said in his ear
Long time no see, manager. It's me.
When I say that, I release the shape change spell so that only the store manager can see it.
When the manager sees my face, his eyes blink for a moment and then
Oh, my God, you're alive!
He said and gave me a big smile as he banged on my shoulder.

'Hey guys, this is an old friend of mine! Give him a welcome welcome without any rough edges!
At the manager's words, the atmosphere in the store, which had been a bit of a wait-and-see atmosphere, became somewhat relieved
I cast the spell again and looked back at him, shape-shifting.
It's nice to be back in a familiar place for the first time in a while. Today is my treat and I hope you all enjoy the delicious food here.
Then he waved his right hand wide.
At these words, the customers in the store cheered in unison, but only one of the ant people (ant people) who were in charge of the travel expenses this time had a very pale face.
I told him that I would pay for it with my allowance, and he finally relieved me, yes.

As for the lodging, thanks to the fact that the second floor of the Three Dragons Pavilion was rented out, the entire delegation was able to stay at the same time.
We quickly took off our traveling clothes and went out to the restaurant again.

The rumor that I'm treating them to a meal has spread, and sub-people are flocking to the restaurant.

They were all surprised to find out that a racial aristocrat was a friend of the manager of the Three Dragons Pavilion.
The fact that this nobleman was chatting with the sub-humans, eating the same dish, and chatting with them was even more surprising, and soon after, they were laughing together.

I used to think that the race was full of uppity people, but when there's someone like you, it's not so bad.
The swordsman-like Kobold happily piled the cup on top of me, hugging my shoulder.
 Everyone laughed along with him.
'Yes Nya. In this atmosphere, we have no choice but to dance.
Ororo? Look who it is, you're some kind of nobleman from the House of Greedo, I think.

 Gesi.

Excuse my epic misunderstanding. Okay, come on, everybody, have fun.
At Unja's feet, the goblin that had taken a heel drop on her face was rolling around completely unconscious.

And so the night went on with a buzz.

◇ ◇ ◇ ◇ ◇ ◇ ◇ ◇ ◇ ◇.

 the next morning
We met up with Biblina and her friends, who had been looking for us all night.
We were worried about you. We went to ask you to dinner, but you are not staying at the inn so you could at least give us a call to let us know!
With his arms folded and his brow frowning, Biblina complained a lot, he went to the Central Agency Frontier Bureau.

This is where the paperwork associated with the current upgrade to a frontier small city is to be done.
Mainly, we are supposed to report our current financial situation, population and economic development level to them for approval.
Normally, after making a rough application here, they bring back any deficiencies or inadequacies and make up a document to fill them in again and submit it, but
"Well, first of all, let's talk about the population...
'Here's the current total population data, here's the occupational data, here's the ratio of men to women, here's the age data. What's still out there, Al?
Oh, uh ... that's all right, or ... next to the economic situation ...
Here's Liberty's population by economy and occupation, economic development index and estimated monthly revenues. Here's the base of the Colne, here's the Gehmose area, and here's the other one?

and by the ants (anthopeople) who had already prepared the too-perfect paperwork for me.
All the cases were cleared and completed without any problems.

The work was supposed to take at least a full day to complete, but it only took half a day.
I really can't thank the antsy people enough.

After lunch at the Three Dragons Pavilion, the five of us, Foldente Erdena Uña Lil Pop and I headed out to the Clover Trading Company.

This is a trading company that has purchased the rights to a mine in the Geghemorse area from the former lord of Geldos and has been raking in the concessions.
The reason for our visit was to try to negotiate back the concessions.

The chairman of the Clover Company is a short, rather large man, whose name is Clover, like the name of the company.
'Well, well, well, it's Gehmose's ... ah, it's Liberty now, isn't it? It's a painful way for the new lord to show up.
I shook his hand as he twirled his cigar, but his hand was strangely greasy and uncomfortable in a way that made me feel uncomfortable.

Nevertheless, I decided that I had to get my concessions back somehow for the sake of the city, so I began to discuss it, and they agreed to return the concessions to me so easily that it was anticlimactic.

 That said.
This was due to Liberty's encouragement of Bunnism, which aims to reconcile the races and sub-humans.

For what it's worth, the Clover Chamber of Commerce is deeply connected to the Bobblebum Church in business, so they are forced to refrain from doing business with pagan cities.
In other words, it seems that having a relationship with us Liberty's, who encourage Bunnism, has become a case they have to avoid.

Although they charged us a reasonable amount of money, it was somehow able to be paid immediately.
I was able to make the payment immediately on the spot, and they were able to hand over the rights to me safely.

Perhaps because they are recommending Bungeeism, they were not even served tea, and when the business meeting was over, they were sent out of the store as if they were being kicked out, and although Unya and Erdena seemed to be quite unhappy with the situation, they were
Well, you won't have to deal with these guys anymore, so why not be happy about it?
And everyone thought twice about that, as Foldente chuckled as usual.

Then, as we were heading to the inn.
Excuse me, but are you the Earl of Gossage Frontier, in the small frontier city of Liberty?
I was approached by a woman who was quite a bit younger than me, who seemed to be in her twenties or so when she was in the city.
Her name is Alpha Quinn, and she is the chairman of the Quinn Chamber of Commerce, which does business in the royal capital.
She has become the chairman at a young age due to the sudden death of her predecessor.

She asked me to let her talk to me, and I went straight to the Quinn Chamber of Commerce.
Quinn Shokai was headquartered in a rather small building compared to the Clover Shokai I mentioned earlier.
''When my father was still alive and well, we had a much larger store... but after my generation, we just couldn't do much about it...''
Then, with a wry smile, Quinn served us a cup of tea, which she brewed herself.

After the typical greeting, she begins to talk to me about the main topic.
She had heard a rumor that the small frontier city of Liberty was producing dragon scale armor, and she had asked me to be her sales representative in the royal capital.
This sale of the dragon scale armor in the royal capital was something we had been thinking about, so we could say it was a boat ride.
However, the quality of this armament was quite good, even though it was self-praised, so it seemed that even if we took the conversation to a larger trade association rather than the Quinn Trading Association, we would have been able to have a reasonably good conversation.
Since they hadn't been in the King's Capital for very long, they decided to bring this story back once.
 Quinn was
"A good answer, please.
With that, he bowed his head deeply as he walked us off.

Once we got back to the inn, we told the ants about the Quinn Trading Company.
 Opinions were split in half.

 On the one hand.
The opinion that the Dragon Scale Armor is definitely an item that can be sold at a high price in the King's Capital, and that it should be possible to make a contract with a larger trade association.

 The other.
Quinn Co. is reputed to be a trustworthy business partner since his father's generation because of their reputation for honest business practices, even though they are not a major company.

The conclusion was that I was left to my own devices, and I had to be troubled by the fact that I had been entrusted with the clogs, but after this, I was invited to a gathering of the famous people of the royal capital, so I put the matter on hold and headed for the venue.
