145 . Frontier City Training Part 3

In the end, I was pushed out of the way by the dragonborn Volnisa to have the blue demon Brua, a member of her mercenary group, the Deconus Seeds, at my side as a trial guard.
''I'll be looking forward to working with you for a while from now on.
When I said that, Bulua bowed reverently and followed me.

Bulua is slender but quite tall. She's thin in many ways in terms of style, so I can't help but feel a bit like Erdena in terms of atmosphere.

I took Brua back to the Quinn Chamber of Commerce and explained to Quinn what was going on, and he took me to another room with a cloudy expression on his face.
 That's where Quinn told me.
''Lately, there has been a growing movement to advance racial supremacy, and as part of that movement, there is a noticeable movement to prevent jobs from going to sub-human mercenary groups... That mercenary group to which he belongs was probably influenced by that.
 And that was that.

So I could imagine that the other side was coming to talk to me in a pretty dire situation.

 Just.
It was pushed out of the way in terms of form, but it's true that I had my own thoughts about the story.

That said, the current frontier small city of Liberty is suffering from a chronic shortage of guards.
This was largely due to the fact that the guards of the last incorporated former frontier small city of Geghemorse had almost escaped during the Chimera Pseudo Riot.
Many of the guards who fled at that time are now secretly living in the reconstructed area of Geghemorse, but there is no one who is willing to become a guard again.

''........So I'm thinking that it would be good if we could hire these mercenaries as guards....
Quinn nodded widely at my opinion.
I think that's a good idea.
If those jobs are lost, it will allow us to send jobs to the sub-mercenaries who are currently in trouble in King's Landing, and I think the sub-people will be very happy.

Thus, Quinn personally agreed with me.
I wrote a quick letter on this occasion.

The addressee is Erdena, who is acting as acting lord of the small frontier city of Liberty.

I write a greeting to her and a brief update on me.
As a main point, I wrote to him that I would like him to discuss the hiring of guards for the sub-human mercenary group in King's Landing with the Chief of the Guard, Gugs, and others.

I left that letter with Quinn.
'Just tomorrow, there's a liner coming in for Liberty, so we'll leave it to it.
That's what he said, so I decided to take him at his word.

◇ ◇ ◇.

I didn't tell Bulua this information, as it was still in the consideration stage.

But she was quietly tentative anyway.
And yet, he is always paying attention to my surroundings.

At first I thought it was amazing that even I, who am not very good at that kind of attention, could see it.
If you think about it, wouldn't you rather turn off those signs? So that's the question that came up.

I asked Bloor about that directly.

 It was a great idea.

It's still amazing, or maybe he thinks about it a lot.

From a Brua's point of view, he was happy that I had noticed that, and he seemed to be in a bit of a good mood in the carriage on the way home.

◇ ◇ ◇.

Soon after, the carriage carrying Quinn, Quinn, and Bulua arrived at Quinn's private residence.

'Thank you all for your hard work, Con.
Welcome home, little girl.
We were greeted by the mansion's maid, Kirko, and my attendant maid, Unja, who both greeted the carriage.

 This was a recent sight.

Today, the Lerdo came rushing in here.
Lerdo, who usually guards the area around the mansion in the middle of the night, should still be taking a break at this time.

 While I'm at it.
The Lerdo runs up to the carriage and bends down to look behind me, his huge body bent over.

Out of the corner of my eye.
....Huh? Bulua has a very confused look on his face.

 Huh?

That's what Burua said, and Lerd said.
This is my place of business. But what is the point of you being here when you said you were going on a warrior training trip?
And I'm going to talk about it in a very angry way.

 And, well.
I didn't want to talk to them in the doorway, so I had them both transferred to the reception room.

And then I talked to them.
The red demon Lerdo and the blue demon Obrua are their own brother and sister.
''This guy is a softling who comes back as soon as he says he's going on a training trip...''

Well, in terms of the argument, the story went on as it was overwhelmingly correct.

"I'll take care of this one for you.
Lerdo said so, and said he would let Bulua stay in his room, and I was going to ask him to do so, but
My brother has a tendency to preach.
That's what I've been blurting out, so....

◇ ◇.

 Nevertheless
It seems that Lerdo, too, has shown a certain amount of understanding about Bulua's mercenary activities, and he has given me permission to serve as his bodyguard, with the condition that I only go to the capital.
''I'm your absent-minded little sister, but by all means...''
That's what he told me, but it's not like I'm going to make Bulua my wife or my side room... I couldn't help but giggle at the thought.

 The next morning
I am going to the royal capital for training.
Bloor is following me closely and getting into the carriage.
 Quinn is with me.

In the carriage, it's usually Quinn who is talking to me.
I'm sure he's using the wood for me, but maybe because Quinn is a good talker, the journey to the royal capital is starting to feel strangely less long.

By contrast, Bloor is very quiet.
Even when Quinn is talking with me, he doesn't really get involved in the conversation.
It was like he was just nervous about his surroundings.

◇ ◇ ◇.

When I arrived in the capital, I was escorted by Bulua to the Central Office Frontier Station.
I'll probably be home around 4pm.
 I told Bulua that.
"I understand, sir. I will act accordingly.
He bowed reverently to me as he said so.

I felt a little embarrassed by that bow, but I went to the venue yesterday.

 then
There were different people sitting in chairs than the five who had passed the test yesterday.

 This is.
It was like everyone else who had passed an extra exam that had been held here before I arrived.

There must have been a little over 20 people in total.
There are only about ten people left here in total.

Even if you add in the five who passed yesterday's class, we're still a few students short... and it looks like some of them were cancelled.

I was the first one to come in yesterday's successful group.
Everyone in the hall seemed to have no time for that, and they continued to look through the massive amount of documents.

If you look closely, you'll see that the document is
It was a training material that we, yesterday's successful candidates, had been handed yesterday.

Probably, they've been instructed to look over it before today's training starts, at least to the locations of today's classes.

We, the group that passed yesterday, were able to relax and look through it at home.
Everyone here just passed the test earlier, so while it's not a bad idea, it's not a bad idea.
I know how much of it is too much, and I was just trying to give everyone a shout-out on the inside...
