108-Sati apple pie

After a series of battles with the Knights of Rosaria, the 8th Legion and I returned to Ivalice.
There were three reasons why we didn't just attack Rosalia's royal capital, Reezus.

First, although the knights were almost completely destroyed, there were still close to ten thousand troops, mostly infantry, stationed there.
Two, the Eighth Legion was exhausted from battle after battle.
Three, the capital city of Lisas was an impregnable fortress city.

In other words, Cephiro and I decided that there was no way to win, and our decision was probably correct.
After the war, when the Demon King presented us with a letter of commendation and reward for our hard work in this war.

I'm proud of myself.

It was accompanied by a letter written in masterful handwriting.
I stared at the letter and asked Satie for a cup of tea.

Satie will be happy to oblige.
He bowed and brought a silver wagon with tea, milk, and apple pie.

'Apple pie. Not bad.'

These otherworldly apples have a strong sour taste and are unpalatable to nibble on, but the sourness accentuates the good taste when made into sweets, and they become a high quality dessert.

The fact that they also serve tea with milk may be a sign of how I'm feeling today.
As is to be expected of a professional maid, there is no slackness in her work.
In the first place, she also knows how to make the tea.

Boil water until it boils, pour it into the teapot, discard the water, make sure the teapot is warm, put the tea leaves into the teapot, pour the water back into the teapot, and let it steep for five minutes to bring out the full flavor of the tea.

I served it with milk, perhaps because I wanted it to go with the apple pie, but the sweetness of the milk tea and the sourness of the apple pie were a perfect match.

I savored them slowly and then asked Satie.

'Do you like the city of Ivalice, Satie?'

The girl in the maid's uniform answers immediately.

'Yes, I love it.'

And with a girlish smile for a girl his age.

'What do you like about it?'
That's where your master lives!

It's embarrassing for me to be told that without any shame or pedantry, but I asked back with a cool, professional attitude.

"........besides that?

She's a little confused, but after a few seconds, she rattles off Ivalice's virtues.
Folding her fingers one by one.

'Everyone in the city is very nice. And all the demons are horrible to look at, but they're also very kind.

Anything else?

The rest of the city has improved. We have a fountain in the square and a great market. You can find rare tropical fruits and delicious northern cheeses.

I'll have to thank the folks at the Trade Federation for that.

'And lately, the traveling troupe has been stopping by as well. Last time I saw a street performer do a dagger trick with a dagger and a big man breathe fire, it was great fun.

I guess it's all about keeping the roads to Ivalice clear and secure. Lilith and Anemone were so excited when the troupe was coming next.

Hearing those words, Sati smiled like a flower.

'Is it true?'

Yeah, I heard that a famous theater company is coming to King's Landing.

What will the show be about?

Well, I don't know that much.

I'm not particularly interested in the play.

As the ruler of this city, the invitation would be sent to me, but I was only now trying to think of an excuse for how I would refuse on the day.

''Is your master not interested in the play?''

No.

 I answer immediately.

'But you read a lot of books, don't you?
I love stories.

I used to read a lot in my previous life. Paper books, web novels, any medium.
Stories are good. They make me forget all the unpleasant things in my past life and in this other world.
Plays, on the other hand, are not my cup of tea.
On the other hand, I don't like the theatrical and exaggerated performances.

"Acting is something that should be done in a very natural way...

For a while, I talk to Satie about my theatrical theory.

For about an hour or so, Satie listens attentively to me, saying, "Mm-hmm," but halfway through, I realize something.

I noticed something in the middle of my talk.

Realizing this, I stopped the theatrical discussion and spoke to Sati.

'Back to the point, Satie likes this city of Ivalice, doesn't she?

Satie answers as quickly as she did earlier.

'Yes,'
 And--.

Hearing the answer, I let out a little apologetic, "I see," and asked.

'Would Sati be sad if I told her that I was leaving the city of Ivalice?

Has Satie been struck with a false impression?
Her big eyes fluttered and she was surprised.

'You're moving in? Maybe.

I leave my desk in the office and walk slowly to the window.

From there, I look down at the familiar city of Ivalice.

If things continue to go well, they might.

 I told her.

'Does that mean that the Demon King's army will completely conquer Rosalia?

 Satie asked monotonously.

''Well..........''

I was silent for a moment, because Sati's guess was perfect.
I stare at the clever girl for a moment, and then I tell her, "It could happen.

'Because if we control all of Rosalia, of course the front line will be in western Rosalia.

Does this mean that your master will be assigned to the West?

Maybe.

I said maybe, but without a doubt, my Eighth Legion will be assigned to the frontline city.
If I were the Demon King, I would give that order.
Because at the moment, my army is the most active in the Demon King's Army.
The most vigorous, if you will.
I was prepared for this to some extent, but what about Sati?

Many years - not to say many years, but it's been quite a few months since I was posted to this city, although it's not surprising that I've developed a kind of attachment to the city.

With that in mind, I ask her, in case you're wondering.

"Sati, if it's okay with you, you can stay in this town if you want--

I was about to say that, but Satie, unusually

'No! I want to be in a place with my master!

 I denied it forcefully.

'...........................

I don't think I've ever seen Sati scream so loud before.
I've decided to give up on leaving Sati in Ivalice after seeing her.
This girl is the kind of girl who would follow me around if I told her I was going to hell.
Realizing that it doesn't matter how much I tell her, I stare out the window into the distance.
Looking up at the blue sky, I blurt out.

''Maybe we should worry about our new assignment after we've brought down the King's capital, Lisas.

Still, the royal city of Reezus is in the hands of Eichs, the vizier of the Kingdom of Rosaria.

I should worry about where I'm going to be posted after I defeat the remnants of Rosalia led by Eichs, take back the throne from him and conquer all of Rosalia.

With that thought in mind, I turned to Sati and asked for a cup of tea.
She smiled and nodded, then left the office and headed for the kitchen.
The second cup of tea that Satie brought me tasted better than the first.
