129-Alistair's ex-nanny

Alistair led me to a small house in downtown Leasas.
It was a small, but splendidly built house that was in the downtown area but not in a favela, and it was small and cozy.
After all, it was the house where her former nanny lived after she retired.

She couldn't go back to her mansion now, but the rationale she offered was that a nanny's house would be less conspicuous.

'Can you trust that person?'

 I ask her, in passing.

'When I was a little girl, I once broke a vase in the living room and she covered for me and took the blame for it. From then on, she was a woman who treated me as kindly as my own mother until she retired.

'You would never snitch on me,' she adds.

'I see, she seems to be an honest woman.

In fact, she was an honest woman.

Late at night, that is, in the midst of martial law, she welcomed the young lady and her companion, who were wanted as rebels, with open arms.

She served them warm soup with a compassionate smile and words.

If this woman betrayed me, it was either too much of a circumstance or too much of an actor.

I put my faith in her, as did Alistair, and hoped that she would offer me a place to stay, in the form of a sweetheart.
The former nanny agreed in two words.

'Your guests are dear to me as well, young lady. Please consider it your home and feel free to use it as you see fit.

From then on, she was true to her word and treated us as her guests and never interfered with our rugged and audacious plans.

She offered us a base of operations without any concern that we might be in danger if her plans to take the seal from the current king were to be exposed.

I'm grateful for that. If we ever regain the King's City of Lisas, we will repay her for her service.

Yes, that's true. But her wish is to live in this house that her dead husband left her, in peace. She wouldn't want any more luxury than that.

"Then let us take care not to engage in urban warfare in King's Landing, and let us take care that peace prevails after the war.

I'd appreciate it if you would.

 Alistair agrees.
We both decided to go to sleep.
The reason for this is because we knew that if we were to retrieve the national seal, we would need information.
It is better to gather information in the daytime, when people are active.
We've decided that we need to get some sleep to keep our wits about us, and that's what we've come to the conclusion.
We slept in the bed the nanny had prepared for us.
We slept in the bed that nanny had prepared for us, separate, of course, but at first she suggested the same bed.
For all intents and purposes, the two of us seemed to get along like engaged couples.
Me and Alistair vehemently denied it, but we ended up sleeping in the same room.
This was because there was only one guest room in this modest house.
In the end, we decided to let the young lady use the bed and I slept on the floor.
I wondered if the reason I had trouble falling asleep that night was because the floor was so hard.
Or was it the sound of Alistair's healthy breathing coming from the bed?

I didn't know which, but the next morning I rubbed my sleepy eyes and headed to the marketplace in Leesus.
