733-Growth of God ⑧

The second face-to-face meeting between my parents and Fate-san that finally came.........The tea party started with an incredibly heavy air from the beginning.
No, it wasn't an acrimonious atmosphere by any means. However, both of them were so tense that I could see it from my point of view.

''........''

Fate's impatience to somehow get closer than the first time, and Mom and Dad's confusion that they wanted to find a way to talk to each other, but couldn't find a clue.
It's too early to tell, but both of them are tense and they can sense it in each other, so they can't take action.

Hmm, it's a tough call. It's possible for me to step in here and now and expand the conversation, but I don't think we can get any good results by talking with the current state of tension in our shoulders.
What works won't work if you don't get him to calm down a bit, but the longer the silence continues, the harder it will be to get the conversation out of the way.
I was about to open my mouth to talk about it, even if I was a little pushy after all, when my mom stood up, looking awkward because she couldn't stand the silence.

There was no one else in the room, partly because this time it was going to be awkward in many ways. Irnes-san left a pot of tea and some tea cakes on the cart.
And as Mom was going to make another cup of tea something, like a notepad, fell on the floor.

"Akaryn, did you drop something.....yes? Otherworldly characters... er, 'dream notes'?

Mr. Fate happened to pick up a notepad that had fallen nearby, and he tilted his head when he saw the Japanese words on the cover. But immediately afterwards, he put his index finger to his own forehead, and when he thought his finger flashed for a moment, Fate-san uttered the title written in Japanese without a hitch.
Is it like the translation magic that is automatically granted by summoning a hero?

'Oh, well, it's just a memo of ... dreams, or goals, or something like that.
My mom used to write a memo whenever she had a goal, and when it came true, she'd mark it off. She said it was a reminder of what she wanted to do and what she had accomplished.
...Hmmm... oh no, no, can I, uh... look inside?

When Dad added to Mom's words, Fate mumbled disinterestedly... and then... after a huff, he asked Mom if he could look inside.
Probably because she almost ended the conversation with a "hmmm", so she hurriedly added that she was in a hurry. I can tell that Fate-san is trying her best to make a compromise from this kind of thing. I hope it's going to be a good flow....

''Ah, yes. And, but since I'm just scribbling down what I remembered after I came back to life.......I don't think it's going to be very interesting.
I see........well, there's a lot of them. I think the one with the flower-like markings on the side is the one that came true...

Fate-san continues to read the memo pad while muttering, but it doesn't seem to be something that she can be interested in, as you can guess from her expression and sensory magic.

''.........''
Mr. Fate?

It said, 'Good luck and get along with Fate-sama! And it was written in my mom's handwriting.

''I see........that's what it was all about....
Well, Miss Fayette?
Kai-chan, Lord Shalovanal told me that I needed something to show my interest in my parents. Now I know what I need to do to get your parents interested in me and now I know what I'm missing.

After saying that in a quiet voice, Fate-san looked up to the heavens as she put her hand to her forehead.

''Ahhhh, I'm such an idiot. I've lived for a long time and I didn't even realize how simple this was. Just because you can use your authority to move someone to do what you want... 'I don't know everything about them'...
That's what was missing, isn't it?
Of course. If you don't even try to know the other person, you can't normally be interested in them. What I should have done was not just try to be vaguely interested in the other person, but to make an effort to get to know them.

After smiling as if a possession had fallen on her, Fate-san turned to a puzzled Mom and Dad.......and bowed her head vigorously.

''Fe, Fate-sama!
What the hell are you...
Sorry! I've never been interested in either of them, and I didn't feel any value in them until now. No, I just assumed that there was no value in it. I didn't realize that I was a god, but I was a novice. I think I gave you two a lot of scary feelings... and I want to apologize for that first.

What is it? It was like a stagnant flow starting to move, like a gear that had been out of alignment meshing perfectly.
It takes time or a big chunk of time to change the values you've held onto for years. Coincidentally, that chink in the armor came rolling in.
Mr. Fate kept his head down for a little while, then looked up and told Mom and Dad.

''Well it's selfish of me to say. I want to be able to care for the people who are important to Kai-chan, too. So, although it's really late, I would like to know more about you two.......can you tell me about them?
''Well then, can you tell me about Fate-sama in return? We, too, want to know more about Fate-sama, so...

As Fate-san's mood softened, a smile appeared on Mom and Dad's faces. And Mr. Fate, who heard what Mom said, also laughed somewhat happily.

'Ok, so I guess that means we are each other then.

 It's a really good flow.
While thinking about this, I smiled and opened my mouth to join the conversation with the three of them.
