34-34. Evidence that the Empire was cheating

In search of someone stronger than me, I was reincarnated in a world a thousand years later.
However, what I saw there was a world where the magic civilization had declined.
Even in such a world, I was undeterred and attended the magic academy in the royal capital, but....

''You wanted to see me?''

One day, I was called to the principal's office.
The teachers called me over to the principal's office, and I walked alone to the principal's office.
There was the principal seated in a chair, and on either side of him was the homeroom teacher, Erica, and Desmond, a former S-rank adventurer.

The headmaster stroked his white beard and slowly opened his mouth.

''Hm. Good of you to come.''
What do you want from me?
'It's actually about the exchange game the other day...'

 Oh, you mean that one.
 The exchange with the Empire.

I was genuinely looking forward to it, but the Imperials cheated and I ended up fighting a guy with a fancy name like the Four Wise Men.
I won, of course, but I was just as dismayed by the cowardly Empire as I was a thousand years ago.

'You did well in the exchange battles. Thanks to Kurt, I was able to find out how unfair the Empire was.
'No, no, it's all thanks to you guys but is that what you called me to tell me?
That's one thing but the main issue is somewhere else.

 Separate?
 I don't know, I don't like it.

''The Empire was actually cheating. That was witnessed by Erika-sensei and Desmond-sensei, who were waiting inside the Treasure Maze. I'm not sure if the worst thing that could have happened is that people died. This is a very serious situation.
Of course.
But there's just one problem.
'The Empire doesn't approve of that, does it?

If you anticipate what I'm going to say next.

Yeah, that's right...

 And the principal looked stunned.

'How did you know?'
Well I had a feeling.

 Scratch your cheek.

 The Empire is cowardly.
This is a fact that hasn't changed since a thousand years ago.
No matter how many witnesses there were, such as Dr. Erica and Desmond, it was easy to imagine that the Empire would not approve of it.

''What does the Empire say?''

I can kind of guess, but I dare to ask.

'Let me first explain.'

 Dr. Erica stepped forward.

'Based on what I saw at the exchange, I packed the Empire. Then what do you think they said?
There's no proof, I guess.
'For a smart student like Kurt, it's nice to save you the explanation. Kuh ... them!

Erika-sensei gritted her teeth in frustration, probably remembering what happened then.

''They really are ridiculous!

Desmond couldn't seem to hide his anger either.

 Hmm.
That's how the empire is planning to evade the excuse and make the exchange battle a vague affair.

I'm not going to be able to get any more than a few of them.
The only thing that has happened is that a representative of the Imperial side has been injured by my magic.
I've heard that Arnolt of the Four Wise Men, who was destroyed by the Holiness Gate, is also missing.
The Empire must be saying that this is the madness of Erika-sensei and Desmond.

''Still, as far as we're concerned, we're adamantly protesting it.

Once again, the headmaster propped his elbows on the desk and continued his story.

But.........it's also true that there is no proof. We still don't have the smoking gun to bring them to justice. So I was just wondering if Kurt would have some insight.
Me? I'm just a student, you know?
''I think calling you 'a mere student' after your overwhelming victory over the Four Great Sages is indeed too much to ask...''

Dr. Erica let out a sigh.

Believe it or not, I'm a pacifist.
I want to pass as a very ordinary school student everywhere.........
 I guess it's still impossible?

Well but I've got some evidence.
Oh, is that true?

 The headmaster leaned forward.

'Yes. 'Look at this.'

And I took out what I had brought with me beforehand from my pocket.

''This is...?''
It's a surveillance spell.

During the exchange battles, the movements of our royal capital side were being monitored by this monitoring spell implement.
It's not just a matter of time before you're able to get your hands on a new one.

"It looks like a crushed insect........?
''That's because when I found it, I was the one who crushed it. Every move on the King's side with this magic tool was monitored by the Empire.
Oh, it's true! But........I've never seen or heard of such a magic tool before?

Erika-sensei shows a surprised but skeptical look on her face.

A thousand years ago, the magic tools that were flown around to curb crime are not common in this world, it seems.
They were often found in tool shops and the like as an anti-shoplifting measure.
It's over technology in this world.

'But ... if it's crushed, can't it be used as evidence? Kurt may know something, but we don't know this. Doesn't the Empire have a tendency to take the easy way out?

The question jumped out at me from Desmond.
What you're saying has a point.
If it were me, I could restore a surveillance mage to its original state once it was crushed.

But even if I restore it, it's not a common mage tool.

''The Empire doesn't use those things! You guys are just making it up and making up evidence!'

What a sight to see the Imperial side say.

'Then there's yet another piece of evidence.
What's that?
Can you darken the room a bit?

I said and the window curtains were closed and the room became dim.

'Alright I guess this wall would make for a neat reflection,'

The room was large, thank God.
I used projection magic on the white, blank walls.

''Is this........the scene of an exchange game?''
We're seeing things. What kind of principle is this?

Seeing the images projected there, the headmaster, Erika-sensei and Desmond's eyes widened.

'It's a magic called Move Storage. I was magically capturing the scene of the exchange battle as this would happen.

It had just come to the point where Arnolt was stupidly and honestly admitting that the Empire was cheating.

''This isn't a one time thing. You've done it many times before anyway, haven't you?'
"Correct.

 Stupid.
I guess they didn't even know the footage was being preserved during the fight.

'What a wonderful...! With this, we can hunt down the Empire.

Looking at the image, the headmaster wavered and shuddered.
When Arnolt was destroyed by the light, I stopped the projection magic.

The first thing that comes to mind is the fact that you have to be able to use this kind of magic in the middle of that fierce battle? Where could you afford that?
Kurt is, after all, a man who does not fit within the bounds of our common sense. Even with such magic, I never thought that he could preserve an image for so long...

Erika-sensei and Desmond also seemed confused.

I don't want them to be surprised at this level........
Just to be sure, I saved all the footage from the beginning to the end of the exchange game.
I didn't want to show it to them, as it might surprise them even more, and it doesn't seem to be necessary right now.

'But even this is still a bit of a problem.
