82-82. How to make a potion

The purpose of this exchange camp is for the magical academies of the royal capital and the empire to exchange with each other and try to enhance each other's power.
As part of that, a 'joint class' was to be held first.
As the time was approaching, me, Cynthia and Avril and I headed to the auditorium.

The teacher of Disualia Magic Academy who came up on the stage thanked him reverently.

''First of all, let me tell you the schedule for the first day of this exchange camp...''

I glanced around as I listened to the teacher continue to explain the situation.

Next to me sat Cynthia, followed by Lara and Marise.
Furthermore, the auditorium was large, with a total of about sixty students from the Empire and King's Landing taking their seats.

Among them was the figure of Eryk and others who had poked me at the entrance.
Apparently, he had already recovered from earlier. The school must have a resident healer or something.

I've been unable to stand up to it, but Eryk is still looking at me with a hostile stare.
But he doesn't explicitly look at me, though.
It's just glancing at you, but it's obvious.
 He doesn't learn his lesson.

Then, the first program of the exchange camp. I would like to begin the 'joint class'.

The students of both schools clapped as the teacher bowed so.

Now.........what kind of lesson will be taught?
I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

''Well then, this time I would like to teach a lesson on 'Production Magic'.

And the teacher of Disualia Magic Academy, who was climbing on the platform, opened his textbook.

 Production magic, huh?
It's not a field I'm very interested in.
If you're going to use production magic, perfect magic would be more suited to it than defective magic.
But I'm curious about the level of these guys' classes.

I heard the sound of everyone unfolding the textbooks at hand.
I'm not going to be able to get it right.

In contrast, I didn't open the textbook, I crossed my legs and listened to the teacher's talk.

''First of all, what kind of thing is production magic? Mr. Eryk, will you answer me?
Yes, sir.

Eryk, who was appointed by the teacher, stands confidently.

''Production magic, as the name suggests, is magic that creates and sometimes processes items such as swords, shields.......and even potions. It's relatively easy compared to combat stuff, but you have to be very careful because you have to stabilize the output of magic power, so there's a chance it could fail and explode.
Good. You are correct.

Well, you can't be wrong in the grand scheme of things. Although it's tricky to say that it's easier than the ones for combat.

Anyway, why did the Disualia Magic Academy deliberately choose such a production magic as its theme for the exchange camp?
I don't mean to make fun of production magic, but it's inevitably going to be more modest than the ones for combat.
I don't think it's a topic to study when the two schools have gone to the trouble of gathering together.......

''Then let's study potion generation this time. From the previous continuation........oops excuse me, there are students from Rosan Lira Magic Academy today. Please open your textbook to page 108.

The student's side of the Rosan Lira Magic Academy hurriedly opened their textbooks.
On the other hand, Disualia's side seemed to have opened the page even before the teacher said it.

''For potion production, we need a source material. What kind of material would be suitable for that.......there are about three things, can anyone answer that?

When the teacher asked a question, the students raised their hands in unison.
It was all students from Disualia.
In contrast, none of the Rosan Lira Magic Academy side could raise their hands.

''I can understand up to two, but I don't understand the third one...''

 Marise looks frustrated.
Can't even Marise, an honors student, be able to answer?

Come to think of it, as for the first year students, they have yet to learn the production magic itself.
 If these guys.........

''Yes. Then, Ark-kun there.
As for the items that are used to make potions, one is holy water, and the second is a kind of undiluted liquid called potion liquid. The second is a kind of undiluted liquid called potion liquid. And the third one is divine honey, which is said to be obtained from the trunk of the divine tree.
'That's correct, Mr. Ark. Up to the second one, it's famous, but as for the third one, it's a method that's not easily known. As for the divine nectar, it's difficult to get hold of it, so it's not practical, but it's important to know about it.

When the teacher said that, the student called Ark made a good face and flashed a glance in our direction.

Hmm. What that student is saying is not wrong either.
But there was a lot of tweaking going on from me.

'Oh? Can't any of the students of Rosan Lira Magic Academy answer the question? I shouldn't, you have to study properly. I didn't expect the level to be this low.

He's a teacher with a spiky way of saying it.

''Um, we haven't learned about production magic yet for the first year. We are also studying about the second and third year students, focusing on offensive and defensive magic. Moreover, using divine nectar.......I think it's wrong to teach students such an unrealistic and inefficient method.

Marise stood up and ate at the teacher, as if she was running out of patience.

'Still, sir. I've written about this in my textbook. It's not the same page you have open. And this is basic. No matter how much you haven't learned, isn't it wrong to use that as an excuse for not learning?
But...
Please sit down. We'll continue with the class.

The teacher said, and Marise sat down in her seat with a hint of frustration.

'Now let's move on to the next problem. In order to use these material items to generate potions, you have to use magic. Magic such as 'Create' is well known, but there is another magic that exists, albeit in a slightly more unusual way. What is it?

The teacher continued with the problem while giving the students on the Rosan Lira Magic Academy side a petulant look.

It's not nice to get carried away with this.
Besides, my dear friend, Marise, is feeling frustrated.
I'm not the one who's going to keep quiet here.

''Aw, only the Disualia side has a hand this time... hmm?

 The teacher rolls his eyes.

'Do you have knot holes in your eyes? Guess who I am now.

I raised my hand and challenged the teacher.

'Are you ... Mr. Kurt? I've heard rumors about you. You may be excellent at attack magic and ward magic, but do you have any knowledge of production magic? Very well, Mr. Kurt, please answer me.

The teacher guesses me in a trying tone.
As expected, the teacher's side seemed to have information circulating about what I've been doing so far.

And.........from the teacher's mouth, I would expect that choosing production magic as the theme of the class was still a trap.
Even in the exchange battles, the power of the royal capital has been shown, so they probably thought that they were in a bad position with regard to magic for battle.
I'm sure you'll be able to find a way to make the most of it.

As expected of the Empire, it's dirty.
 But........you underestimated me too much.

''In order to generate potions, it would be possible to use the magic called 'Restoration' on the three items I mentioned in the beginning. It's not just a matter of time before you'll be able to get a good deal more than you think. Well, from my point of view, this is also inefficient, and most of what you guys say is wrong.
Ugh....

 The teacher contorts his face.
Honestly, although what these guys are saying is not wrong, it's too inefficient a method, so it's too silly to study seriously.

I also grasped the level that these guys would be learning at that time.
I went out of my way to lower the level and give them the answer the teacher wanted.

'Seh, that's correct. But what do you mean by inefficient? This is written in the textbook. Don't be too weird...
What? Then let's give it a try. Hey, I'm going to borrow this water.

I leave my seat and go up to the podium where the teacher is standing.
I pick up the water that was placed on the teaching table, perhaps to rehydrate during class.

'You don't need to use holy water, or potion fluid, or divine nectar to make potions in the first place.
What?
I'm going to show you what it's like to be the embodiment of that water.

I grab my cup and gulp down.
I didn't use any magic. I just poured my magic into the water.
As I did so, the water glowed with a green light.

'Oops, I put a little too much force into it and it turned into a high potion instead of a potion. Is this not good enough?''
Oh, no. There's no way you can make a hypo potion out of just water!

The teacher takes the glass of water from my hand as if to snatch it from my hand.
He then used his appraisal magic to confirm the identity of the liquid.

Then his eyes popped out of his head and he looked at me.

'My God! Wow, that really is high proportions! This can't be happening! What if it wasn't just water...? No, what was placed here was definitely water. I don't think it was even switched out...
There is no way I'm going to make a fool of myself. Would you like me to demonstrate it again? Yes, there was a pond on the school grounds. We can try to turn all the water in that pond into a hypothetical pond.

Using holy water, potion liquid and divine nectar to make a mere potion is too wasteful.
If it were me........if I had a drop of divine nectar, I could produce about a hundred servings of elixir from it.

''Why, why........! You can use production magic as well as combat magic...? I don't hear that!
'Although I'm relatively poor at production magic, I'm still far ahead of you guys. If you thought production magic could give me a run for my money, then pity on you.

The teacher's face was contorted and clenched in frustration.

 --poof.

Seeing this, I can hear the sound of applause from somewhere.
It seems that the students on the Rosan Lira side are clapping for me.

''You're overreacting for just making a hypo potion out of water,''

But I don't feel bad about it.

I slowly made my way back to my seat, listening to the sound of applause.
