167 Chapter 5 Episode 25 [Two-headed Snake Poison Fang] Part 11

The timeline goes back to about ten minutes before the door to Roberto and the others' room was banged on.

'Hey isn't there something wrong out there?
All this way to the south and you're just screwing around with your little tricks. You're a very accomplished aristocrat with a penchant for playing tricks. Hey, you, go on.
It was one of the soldiers who had been on guard duty on the watchtower who first noticed something unusual.

'Indeed. There's something about a day like this. I've got a bad feeling about this one.

One of my colleagues looks into the darkness as if trying to see through it.
Even though it is a night with the moon, it is now hidden by the clouds and its light has not reached the earth.
My vision has not yet captured anything. But the chill I feel on my skin is a harbinger of something bad happening.
At the very least, those who have experienced the battlefield do not take this kind of intuition for granted.
A hunch is an intuitive answer derived from human experience.
The process is hard to explain to others because it skips over the process, but it is not unfounded mumbo jumbo.

'A night raid........maybe. Someone go get the captain.

One of the soldiers gave a small nod at those words and ran out to the filling station.

"d*mn, it's so dark out here, I don't know what's going on.

But it's still something.

There is a bonfire burning on top of the ramparts, but the range of light it provides is extremely limited.
You can see a little bit underneath the ramparts, but a few meters away and you're in the realm of darkness.
Even so, through that darkness, you can feel the presence of someone else.
And when the blue-white light of the moon shone through the clouds to illuminate the land, the answer appeared before their eyes.

"What is that? An enemy?

One of the soldiers spotted something and pointed to the forest in the distance.
It's a black stain that you really have to look closely to see.
And the black stain gradually takes shape, drawing the eyes of all the soldiers to it.

No, they don't look like soldiers. Then it's not a night raid... but then, what was that?

People, people, people, people. It's a crowd of people. The undisciplined movement of the people, moving apart and proceeding without formation, proves that they are not soldiers. Even from a distance it was obvious.

''But even if they weren't soldiers, that number is not just a thing.

One of the soldiers muttered, his face contorted.
A single line leading from the forest.
A few hundred doesn't cut it. It's a crowd of people in the thousands at least. No, if you're not good at it, you might be able to reach tens of thousands.

That's a lot of people. The street is........what is this?

The road leading to Ipiros was filled with a scene that seemed to fill the road to Ipiros. It's no wonder the soldiers were terrified by the people who were silently advancing along the road to Ipiros.

Suddenly, with a horseshoe sounding, a message came running through the dark night.
The eyes of the soldiers are focused on his figure, illuminated by the faint light of the torches.
And then the messenger shouted in front of the castle gate.

''Open the gates! Open the gate! I am a servant of the Viscount Ellingland. I have urgent news for you, Count Salzberg, from my Lord! Open the gate!

Hearing that cry, the soldiers looked at each other.

''Viscount Ellingland you're one of the ten northern families, right?

Oh, I believe the next viscount is on the way to Ipyros now.

An urgent message from the barons this is a very important one.

Usually the gates of the city are closed at nightfall and opened at sunrise.
In other words, it is basically impossible to enter the city at night. And this is a general rule that is the same for all cities in the western continent.
 However, there are exceptions.
There is an exception for emergencies, such as when bandits or monsters attack a city.
However, on the other hand, the current Iphiroth is in contradiction with Baron Mikoshiba's army.
Considering such a situation, they, who are only one soldier, cannot decide whether they should be very open-minded or not.
You can find a lot of people who have a lot of experience in this field.

'Almost there. We're almost to Ipylos I know it's hard, but good luck.

The man called out to his daughter, who was walking with tears in her eyes at his side.
The bag of luggage on her back was digging into her shoulders, and her body, hardened by farm work, was screaming from the past few days of escaping.
Still, the man smiled as best he could.

''Yeah....''

The girl gave a small nod to her father's question and continued to move her throbbing, aching leg.
Even at a young age, she understood instinctively that there was nothing that could be done about it if she cried.
The fact that crying here and now would not help.
Certainly there are people around. But they don't have enough time to help others.
They can only survive for themselves and their families. Whether they cry or scream, they just walk by without any interest in the situation. Just as they themselves have left others to die before they got to this place.
If you want to survive here and now, you have to just keep going to Iphiroth.

It's going to be all right. "Don't worry, we'll make it to Ipiroth. "We'll be fine when we get to Ipiros. We just have to be patient, okay?

Eventually, the citadel emerged in the dark night in front of the man as he walked through the forest.
The man simply repeated the same words as he pulled his daughter's hand away. Knowing that it was only a consolation prize.
