1 Chapter One Ping Yi

 Death comes suddenly.
It comes from an unexpected place and at an unexpected time.

In front of me is a large truck.

Time moves slowly. Unfinished business pops up in my mind one after another, and then disappears.
My friends, my boss at my part-time job, my university professor. Come to think of it, I haven't submitted a report...
 Finally, everyone at the orphanage.
I didn't think I'd have to pay back with life insurance.

I wish I'd had a more thrilling life if I could.
Just as I thought that, I heard a child laughing and the sound of bones cracking all over me.

________.

I found myself in the woods...

I look around and look up at the sky.
The moon is shining in the sky, pleasantly larger than the one I know.

The trees are very large in the moonlight. How many times taller than I am? There are only huge trees growing there.

 Is it the afterlife?
The stories say there's the Sanzu River and fields of flowers as far as the eye can see, but I don't see a bit of that view.
 It's poor for the afterlife.

 What the hell........

I suddenly felt something bitter in my mouth.
When I spit it out, it was grass.

 Why am I eating grass?
Then I realize I'm intensely hungry.

Dizziness, fatigue, and malaise assault my entire body.

I have to eat something or I'll die....

I'm going to have to find something edible.
 Acorns, mushrooms, anything.
 Something edible.

Suddenly a large centipede enters my field of vision.
Normally I would scream and run away, but for some reason I stare at it.
Upon closer inspection, it seems to have quite a bit of muscle.
As I recall, it's its mouth that's poisonous, and if you can manage its mouth, you can eat it....
 .........
 .........

 Let's eat.

The first time I ate a centipede, it was disgusting.

_______________________________.

Speaking of which, are you okay with the parasites and stuff?
I started to worry after I got the centipede in my stomach.

I wasn't exactly cool with that...
I don't know if I'd be this stupid if I didn't have enough nutrition.
But, well, I don't know how to start a fire, and either way, I needed to eat it raw.
I chewed it well, I'm fine, I'm fine. Probably.

If my brain had worked halfway through and I had hesitated, I might have starved to death.
As for the parasites, we'll just have to pray for them.

 'I'm thirsty...'
 I start walking for water.
I can't wait to get rid of the taste of the centipede that lingers in my mouth.

After walking for about ten minutes of body time, I find a stream.
The words "don't drink the raw water" come to my mind, but I don't know how to start a fire, so I don't have a choice.

 'Don't come back to life...'
 Water is still important.
The water looks clear, so the parasites will be fine. Maybe.

I look into the water of the creek.
It's my face in the moonlight.
 .........
 .........
 .........

 Who is this guy?

On the surface of the water was the reflection of a skinny kid with gray hair color.

 ????

Wait, wait, wait, it must be the surface of the water that's wrong. Even the reflection of light can be wrong sometimes.
I escape from the reality in front of me with a logic that makes no sense in my head.

 I touch my cheek fearfully.
I can feel my bones sticking out.
I wasn't fat, but I wasn't skinny enough to make my bones stick out.

Next, I pull at my hair. My hair is gray.
I'm a typical Japanese, I would have had black hair...

 It's still real.
I mean. You know, this is it. You know, the famous one.

 "Reincarnation...

I look up at the night sky.
A moon more than twice the size of the Earth's moon was shining in the night sky.
