54 # 54 To Fraise and Eschen.

The day before you left, a courier from a town west of Mismid called Leles sent a courier to tell me that strange things were happening a few days ago. Strange things were happening there a few days ago.
Strange phenomenon?

Leanne sat in a chair in the living room, picking up a cup of tea and sipping it. On the other side of the room were me and Yumina, with Linse and Yae sitting on either side of her. Paula is sitting a little beside Leanne.

'It was the children from the village of Leles who discovered it. 'They found a small crack floating in the air in an empty space in the forest. You can't touch it, but it is there, a strange crack.

Cracks in space...? What's that? It's some kind of magic.

Eventually the children realized that the cracks were getting bigger and bigger every day. They hurriedly informed the adults, and the village elders sent a messenger to the royal capital.

Leanne puts the cup of tea back in the saucer. 'So the messenger arrived the day before we returned to Belfast.

I was intrigued by the story and went to the village with a platoon of warriors. But what I saw there was a village that had been driven to extinction. It was the scene of a crystal demon killing and laying waste to the villagers. The warrior platoon that was with me fought with them, but they were powerless. Swords don't work, magic is absorbed, even if you crush it, it regenerates-it was a nightmare. Half of the warriors were incapacitated and the village was completely destroyed.
The same guys we fought. So, did you beat him?
'Somehow. I found out that physical damaging magic would work, and I hit that guy's head with an earth magic rock that weighed several tons. Once his head shattered, he never regenerated again.

Is it still the same monster we fought?

I wanted to find out about this monster and tried to ask for Charlotte's help, but I heard that there was a similar incident in Belfast. Moreover, I was surprised to hear that you were the one who defeated it.

Lean looks straight at me with a wicked smile on her face. What is this, this froggy state of being stared at by a snake. I'm sweating in a disgusting way.

''I heard that, okay? They say you can do all kinds of non-attribute magic, right? No wonder you can use the 'program' too.
'Uh ... what can I say, if you don't divulge too much,'

Charlotte-san, did you speak? No, I might have been made to talk. I wish I was pressed by the demon master.

''According to the surviving villagers, a crack in the space was destroyed and a crystal demon came out of it.

From destroyed space...? Didn't they come back from the ancient ruins like they did with us?
Leanne took a sheet of paper from her pocket and spread it out on the table. What was drawn on it was not the crystal demon we had defeated, but a demon in a different shape.
The demon we encountered was shaped like a cricket, with an almond-shaped head and six elongated legs. However, the demon drawn on Lean's paper had the same almond-shaped head but no legs extending from it, and a long torso.
If the one we fought was a cricket, then this one was a snake. It is a crystal snake with a body that looks like a Japanese sword bent over with a crunching motion.

The ones we fought are not shaped like the ones we fought. This one is shaped like a cricket. It stretched out its legs and attacked us.
'This one stretched out its tail and stabbed or cleaved it to death. It was like a sharp blade.

The shapes are different. However, I was convinced that they are the same thing. For example, a butterfly and a mantis are completely different, but they are the same in the sense of insects. Perhaps they are the same species in the same category.

An elder in my family told me a story once when I was still small. A demon named 'Fraise' appeared out of nowhere and nearly destroyed this world.... A demon with a translucent body and an immortality that never dies. In the end, the demon disappeared just as it appeared, and the world returned to normal as if nothing had happened...
You think this 'Frayze' thing is a crystal demon?
'I don't know about that. The elders are already dead, and the elders themselves said it was a fairy tale they heard when they were children. Besides, it's only in the last hundred or so years that the fairy tribe has begun to associate with outside tribes.

If the monster is a "flay", where did it come from? Is it controlled by someone else, like a summoned animal? Why does it attack people? None of these things can be answered by thinking about it.
They are a threat, but that doesn't mean they can't be defeated. If they show up again, we'll just defeat them. If there's a mastermind behind it, we'll pull it out and defeat it.

'Well, it's no use thinking about it on our own. They're the kind of people you don't want to see again if at all possible, but if they show up again, we'll just beat them.
Yes. By the way, I'll be staying in the country as the upcoming Mismid ambassador in place of Olga.

Huh? I see. Poor Charlotte-san, poor thing....

I'll be coming to visit you occasionally, so keep in touch. And Fuyu night, do you know how to use the gate?

Oh, no. You're being exposed. I even went to the trouble of hitting a small play to keep the "gate" a secret, but this could make Missmid wary of me and cause her to be suspicious.
Perhaps reading my mind, Leanne gives me a small smile.

''You don't have to look at me like that. ''Don't worry, I won't tell the Beast King or any other clan leader. I'm very kind to my people, you know?
Family?
You're going to be my apprentice, aren't you?

Leanne looks at me with a smirk. Geez. I don't call it threatening, but what else can I call it? When I was hesitating to answer, Leanne blurted out, "I'm just kidding.

'Huh, I was just kidding. Forcing a person to dislike it is not my cup of tea.''

You're lying. You were half-serious. As I was glaring at Leanne, the door to the living room opened and Cecil-san and Renee came in with a pot of tea and a tray of sweets.

'Here's some more tea for you.

Rene spins the words, stiffly and nervously. With a jerky motion, she places a plate of sweets in the center of the table and pours the tea into the empty teacup. Cecil-san watches that with a smile behind her with a smirk on her face.

''Excuse me, sir.''

I chewed. He bowed and they left the room. Well, well, I guess. Well done for a first time, I guess.

'You've got a lot of little ones on your payroll. I don't know if you're new here, or if you're just getting used to it.
I recently hired him. I'd appreciate it if you'd forgive me if I messed up in any way.

I drink the tea poured into the cup while saying this. Mu, it's a little hot and tastes strong. Is this area not as good as Lapis-san and Cecil-san's? It's not enough to bother me, though.

By the way, back to our conversation earlier. You can use the "Gate", right?
'You can use it. The problem is that you can only jump once you've been there, though.
Have you heard of Recall, the non-attribute magic? It's a magic that reads other people's minds and retrieves their memories. If you use this together, you should be able to jump from the memories of other people you read to that place.

I didn't know there was such a thing as magic. But you know a lot about it. It's said that most fairy folk are born with no-attribute magic, so that's no surprise.

I'm not going to be able to get my hands on any of them. There's something I want to get from the ancient ruins in that place.
I don't know, where are you going to take me?
"Far to the East. Far to the East. To Yisheng, the Godland.
Eshen?

I can't help but turn my gaze towards Yae. Yae was also surprised when she was pointed at him.
Yisheng, a country that looks a lot like Japan in the former world. It's a country I've been curious about since I came to this world. Will I be able to go to that country?

''You were born in Yisheng, weren't you? If you can read this kid's mind, you can get to Yisheng at the 'gate'.
Wait, wait, that I do! Reading minds, that is, my own!
Don't worry. The Recall can only recover memories that the person giving it to you has given permission for, so they can't read the memories you don't want them to see.

Yae is troubled by the indescribable look on her face. Well, we all have things we don't want others to know about. Even if they say it's okay, they're probably worried. If the positions were reversed, I think I would be like that too.

It's a good thing that you're not going to have to worry about it. The best way to make contact is with a kiss.
""Eww!!!"
Just kidding.

Leanne's words make us all weak. Don't grin, you gothic dross girl! You've been playing with us, a**h*le!

"Okay, you come over here and stand face-to-face with me. And we'll take each other's hands.

I stood facing Yae as Leanne pulled me to her. As it was, she grabbed my hand and held both hands with Yae. Ugh, soft........ I should be holding a sword or something like that all the time, but I didn't expect it to be this soft. I don't know, I'm starting to get nervous!

'Oh....'
Yes!

I looked up and met eyes with Yae. She's looking at me with a bright red face. Don't make that face! I'm sure it's getting more and more embarrassing for us too!

'Yes, both of you close your eyes. The octogenarian pictured the landscape of Yisheng in his head. I'd like the place to be as vivid as possible. If it's vague, a 'gate' might open in a similar place. Then Fuyu Yae and your forehead together and invoke 'Recall'.

I did as Lean told me to do, focusing my magic and aligning my forehead with Yae's. I smelled a fluffy good smell, and I felt like my concentration was about to be disrupted, but I managed to step back and activate the magic.

'Recall.'

Something vaguely drifts into my head. A big tree - a camphor? Something at the base of the tree a torii or a gate. There appears to be a small shrine. There are also something like guardian dogs on the left and right. Is it a small shrine in the forest? Is this the memory of Yisheng in the Yaesu?

Yeah, I saw it.

I open my eyes and stare at Yae in front of me. It's a strange feeling, sharing someone else's memories. It makes me feel as if I've stood in that place many times too.

''Hmmm!''
Tsk!

At Yumina's deliberate coughing, I let go of Yae's hand with a huff. The embarrassment of holding hands and staring at each other the whole time makes both of us turn away from each other.

'If you can see Yishen, I need you to open the 'gate. Is that alright?

d*mn, I told you to stop that grin!
Thinking again of the location of Yishen that had just popped into my brain, I opened the "gate".
When I passed through the floating gate of light, I saw that I was in a forest, with a large camphor tree and a torii gate and shrine protected by guardian dogs underneath it. It was the same scenery I had seen earlier in Yae's memory.

'Make no mistake, this is my birthplace. This is my birthplace, Yisheng, that it is. In the forest of the townships, that it is, just outside of my family's hushoba, that it is.

Yae, who came through the "Gate" as well, looks around and asserts.
The farthest east, the Far East country, Yisheng, the God Country. We stepped into it.
