182 # 182 Demon Kingdom, and a mystery.

"Found the remains of Babylon? Location.
"Yes, in the heart of the Demon Kingdom of Xenoa. "In the heart of the Xenoa, in the mountains of the Demon Kingdom.

Hearing Red Ball's report, I ponder a bit.
Is it the Demon Kingdom of Xenoas? A closed kingdom inhabited by demons. It is ruled by a person called the "Demon King", and it is said to be a country that has little desire to get involved with other countries. Although the environment is harsh due to the steepness of the land, various races live there, and it is also said to be the land of the demon world where many demonic beasts and their subspecies roam.
I'm not sure if it's okay to suddenly go to a completely unknown country.......just to check, I called up a member of the demon race in our knight's group.

''Is it about Xenoas?''

I called out to a young man of the vampire tribe, red-eyed, pale, and with pointed ears. His name is Rushed. He is an eccentric man who is not good at blood despite being a vampire. He says that blood is just an acquired taste, and it's not something that is necessarily necessary to live.
He destroyed my image of a vampire at every turn. First of all, I'm not afraid of the sun, and I like to eat garlic. I'm not afraid of crosses, and I'm not afraid of silver weapons. He doesn't batify, and most importantly, he's not a fan of blood.
Except for the last thing about being personally uncomfortable with blood, that's what the vampires of this world seem to be like. Oh, and it's not like the other person will turn into a vampire just because they've been sucked out of blood.
There are other excellent abilities such as night vision, monstrous powers, and high regeneration abilities, but it doesn't seem to be a good idea due to this young man's unreliable image.
Even so, it seems that the vampire tribe is a very high-ranking clan in Xenoas, so I called him up to see if he knew anything about it. Why he was born into such a high-ranking clan, why he came to our house is a mystery. I'm not sure why he came to us, though he said during the interview that he wanted to be independent.

''There aren't any people other than the demon race in Xenoas?''
'No, although there are a small number of humans and sub-humans, they are also common. It's just that they don't actively engage in relations with other countries, so it's not like they're isolated from the rest of the world. But it's not easy to live here, so there aren't many people living here.
What do you mean?
The temperature changes are extreme. It's hot like midsummer during the daytime, but at night it's like an extremely cold winter. There are a lot of magical beasts, and the possibility of being attacked increases the moment you step out of town. And the food. There might not be much food for humans to eat. Would you ever want to eat slime jelly or orc meat?

You mean like orcs? A pig person. It's a pig's head and a human body like a boar. You're going to eat that? No, maybe it's like pork, but come on! Let's just eat normal pork!
Slime jelly is also.... Yeah, it's freaky. The difference in food culture is too much for me....
I asked him if there were anything better, but he mentioned mini-worm soup and roasted giant bats. Impossible, impossible, impossible. I can't do it. It might taste good when you eat it, but visually, it's no good.

It's not easy for me to get used to eating here either.... There are some dishes that I would like to eat sometimes, though.''

That said, Rushed smiles bitterly. Well, the taste of home is something that is hard to forget, isn't it?
Be that as it may. It's not a problem if there are humans in Xenoas. I'll just sneak in a little and let you go to the ruins to Babylon. If they find us, we can just say we're the poor flag-bearer's third son or something. I'm not going to be a violent person. I'm not a general.
OK, I'll go see if I can find him. Unfortunately, Rushed has never been to the area around the ruins, so we'll transfer to Euron first, and then fly to the site.
Since we'll be flying in "Fly" again, I've decided to have the others wait for us at the castle. When I tried to take one of the amberjackers with me as a means of contacting them in case something goes wrong, we almost got into a fight and had trouble stopping it.
With Yumina's hand-made lottery, it was decided that Amber would be the one I would take with me, and I quickly transferred through the Gate to Euron, where I had fought with Fraise before.
It's still an empty wilderness. I have no use for it here. I used "Levitation" to float Ember and "Fly" to fly in the direction of Xenoas at once.
I didn't want to be seen, so I also made it invisible with 'Invisible'.
When we entered Xenoas' airspace, there were some people flying towards us from ahead. When I slowed down and asked about it, it was two demons, a woman on the upper body and a bird on the lower body and arms.

''It's Harpy. The claws on the lower half of the body are quite powerful and can even defeat a bear. If we don't set them up, they won't do anything.''

Amber was right, the two harpies flew past me unimpeded and flew away without doing anything. I guess I didn't see them before that, though. The magic barrier is deployed, so it's going to erase their scent and stuff.
That's not a demonic beast, it's a demon race. It's difficult to distinguish between the two, but it seems that those who can communicate with each other and are close to humans are called demon race. A Dullahan that's close to humans but can't communicate with humans is a monster, and a unicorn that can communicate with humans but is far from humanoid is also a monster. Well, I don't know how to draw a fine line.

It's a good idea to be careful. I'm sure there are quite a few hexenbiests out there that I don't know about.

We flew toward our destination again. When I looked down to the ground, I saw a wilderness, rocky mountains, and a dense forest. I certainly feel like it's hard to live here.
There is something that looks like a road, but I don't think it's very well maintained.

It's pretty uncivilized. Well, it would be different if we went to the royal capital.
''The concentration of magic element is also high, and there seems to be a large number of demonic beasts here. It seems that this place is a difficult place for people to live. It would have to be a race with a strong body like the demonic race...''

In a sense, this place became a country of demons by necessity, I guess.
But it's hot. Isn't it winter here? The sun is shining so brightly on me. Only in the skies above this area, I feel the sun's rays seem to be increasing in power. Does this have something to do with the concentration of the magic element?
I'm not sure if this is related to the concentration of magnesium, but my coat is heat resistant, so I'm okay.
While I was looking at the ground while flying, something else flew in from the other side. Is it a harpy again?
 No, it's a bird. It's a blue condor-like bird. That's the Red Jade family.
The condor flies as if it were leading us. Soon, we were in a mountainous area, and it led us to a valley in one corner.

''This is........''

Sandwiched between the rocky mountains were the ruins of what looked like a triumphal arch.
I landed on the ground and examined the material of the gate, but it seemed to be the same material as the ruins of Babylon. Bingo.
The height of the gate is about 3 meters, and when I entered, there is a room like a six-mat room, and on the wall was carved some letters. On the left side of the room, there are five vertically aligned with something that looks like a figure.
In the center, there is only one stone pillar up to waist height. A red fire attribute magic stone shines above it.
It's more like a cave.......or rather a shrine. Everything around it is made of material like the black marble in the example.

Hmm? It's different now......... What do you mean?

For now, I pour fire-attribute magic power into the stone pillar in front of me. Then I heard a buzzing sound like a buzzer. Mmm? This sounds like an outlier from a quiz show or something. You mean it's not? Incorrect?

'I knew the writing and the shape on this wall was a clue, didn't I? Wasn't this an ancient magical language? "Reading / Ancient Magical Language.

The magic is activated and you will be able to understand the writing on the wall.

'Arrange the figures on the right in the correct order from the top. You don't have to actually rearrange them, just picture them in your mind, touch the magic stone and let the magic power flow.'

What is this? What is this, a quiz? A figure is the five circles or triangles next to this one.

From the top, there is a square, half-moon, star shape, circle and triangle, and in the middle of it, a small dot is struck: five, three, one, four, two.

'If you rearrange these central dots in order it's not so easy, is it?

Still, in my mind, I rearranged the star shape, the triangle, the half-moon, the circle, and the square and let the magic flow. But once again, a buzz of incorrect answers sounded with a buzz. Well, I guess so.

'Hmmm... oh, is that one, the number of straight lines?'

A circle is 0, a half-moon is 1, a triangle is 3, a square is 4, and a star is 5. The reason there is no 2 is because there are no shapes that can be made with straight lines... what?
If a half-moon was allowed, wouldn't 2 have been fine, like a circle divided into four equal parts?
For now, I'm going to rearrange it to be a circle, half-moon, triangle, square, star shape, and so on.
 Boo-boo. Incorrect.

"What does this have to do with the dots in here?
"Is it possible that this figure represents something else?
If the circle is the sun or something, then this half-moon is the moon. If the star shape is really a star... does it represent something in the heavens? Then what's a triangle and a square?

Line them up from the top ... at a distance from the ground? Then the farthest thing is "star", then "sun", then "moon"....maybe the triangle is "house" and the square is "earth"? Sort by.
 Buh-boom.

"Pfft. Mm-hmm..... There's a clue in the middle of the dot as well...

We stared at the figure for a while, and continued to go through trial and error. And a few minutes later.

Ping-pong, ping-pong, ping-pong.

'f*ck you!
"Oh, Lord! I know how you feel, but calm down!'

'What kind of answer is that? What a problem that was!
'No, well, I agree with you, but...'

Amber gives a drawn-out laugh. The answer to the earlier question. It is.

There is no such thing as a figure to the right.

It was. It's not good to lose your temper! I'm pretty sure the shape was to the left, but come on! That's a total riddle!
As I was calming myself down, the next room also had the same words carved into the wall and a stone pillar with a blue magic stone inlaid in the center. Again!
