63 55. Encounter in the forest

We left that day after we registered as adventurers without a request. The reason is simply because it's getting late. I'm sure you can take the request now and do some chores like carrying your stuff, but it's going to be very late and it's going to interfere with school life tomorrow, so we didn't go today.

And. The next day after school, we came again and ransacked the bulletin board where the requests were posted. By the way, Emma and Vardon are here today, and they're registering as adventurers under Rabbi's supervision.

We're not going to be able to get a job. It's still better to be a defeatist than a chore...

Dagris asks me. But unfortunately, the lowest ranked F-ranked request would be a goblin or caterpillar, or an E-ranked wolf or battlebee or slime. By the way, the slime is not a cute slime like some RPG-style slime from a previous life, but a slimy slime that looks like an amoeba. Its appearance is quite grotesque with its internal organs visible. And the slime's attacks spit out acid. It is so strong that it would melt if it was a normal iron sword.

"I knew it was a goblin or something?

Yeah. Isn't that the same as when we were in the village?

And Dagris refutes Renee's opinion. Even if you say that, there's only such a thing as a defeat system that you can accept, it can't be helped. The request form on the bulletin board is posted up to B-rank, and at A-rank and above, there are requests from nobles and important requests, so the receptionist seems to manage them.

''Let's take the goblins for now. I'll be in the forest about an hour's walk from here, so we can go there quickly.

That's true. You can kill as many goblins as you want, so even with this many people, you can go ahead.

And Kate agrees with me. Goblins are a constant request to be taken down. If these guys are left alone, they're multiplying on their own. Like those black guys, they are extremely fertile. Most of them seem to be sired by goblins, but they can take any female they want, and even human females are sometimes attacked and turned into nurseries.

On top of that, their meat is too tasteless to eat, making them completely useless creatures. I've heard that if left unchecked, they'll establish a settlement.

Apparently, there was a nobleman who knew the number of goblins was increasing, but he was reluctant to pay for military expenses and adventurers, which led to the overpopulation of goblins and the destruction of some noblemen's estates.

It seems that there were about 5,000 goblins at that time, and the Goblin King was their leader. The Goblin King was a B-ranked demon, apparently growing nearly two meters in size compared to the size of an adult man's waist for other goblins.

It's said that there were about 10,000 people in the territory, but there weren't many who could fight, so when the national army arrived, the men had been killed and the women raped by the goblins. It didn't matter how old they were, from a girl less than ten years old below to an old woman above. Some of the women already had swollen tummies.

After that incident, the Adventurer's Guild has been sending out requests to kill them all the time. Normally, goblins have nowhere to sell them and they don't earn money, but since the government is paying for the request, they are guaranteed a success fee. Therefore, for adventurers with no money, it can be a good earning request. It's still pretty low, though, so it's gone after a day of spending.

If you take out a goblin, one goblin will cost you 30 bells. In King's Landing, a cheap one costs about 300 bells to eat dinner, so that's enough money to eat dinner if you work hard.

Incidentally, the currency of this continent is called bells, which are 1-bell coins, 10-bell coins, and 100-bell coins, which are copper coins of varying sizes. The 1,000-bell and 10,000-bell notes are the larger currencies. This is how paper money is already in use on this continent.

This is the one that is commonly used on the continent and cannot be counterfeited because of the special magic that is used. After all, it seems that a brave man from several hundred years ago spread it. In that era, silver and gold coins were carried around, but a brave man who didn't want to carry them around jerkily taught paper money and spread it to the present. I sometimes wonder if it would go so easily, but maybe there was a lot going on.

As I was thinking about this, Emma and Burdon's registration seems to have ended, and the rabbi is calling for them.

'Your two registrations are done. Would you like to take a request today?

'Yes, I think I'm going to go into the woods and hunt some goblins.

'I see. I'm sure Ray and the others will be fine, but please be careful.

We leave the Adventurer's Guild while Rabbi sees us off. We buy the water and other supplies we need at a nearby store and leave the gate. It's fine to make it with water magic, but not everyone can use it, and if you don't have it with you when you stray, it's a matter of life, so I'll buy it. I'll buy one too, just in case I run out of magic power.

Then I walk out of the gate for an hour or so on the paved road, and I see a forest on the edge of the road. This is our destination for the day.

'Come to think of it, I've been down that road, but I've never been in the woods.

That's because I don't have to go in there. I think only adventurers go in there, you know?

Kate says. I certainly wouldn't normally go in there. The trees are dense, about three meters high. Once inside, the trees would only let in a faint amount of sunshine due to the trees.

''All right, then, let's go in!

And Dagris walks to the front of the line. Renee lets out a sigh when she sees that. I'm kind of getting used to seeing this.

Everyone chasing after Dagris. They are going further and further into the forest. I wish they would be a little more vigilant, though.

And then we'd have to walk for about ten minutes. ...this is all very strange. Since we entered this forest, not only did we not see demons, not even animals came out. You can't even hear the birds chirping, all you can hear is the sound of the trees swaying. Everyone else proceeded to talk and didn't seem to notice. However.

Ray, something is wrong.

And Elea seemed to think, too. I don't think it's going to be good to go inside like this. He tried to stop them all from going any further, but it was too late.

"Oh, we're out in the open. ... hmmm, there's someone in there.

We came to an empty place where we had arrived, where the trees had been dense and dense, but that was the only place where there was a hole in the ground. And there we were.

'Oh? It's very unusual to see a human here.

and silvery long hair and purple skin. There stood a man with pointed ears and a monocle on his right eye.
