57 Episode 22: Welcome Party for Drintre 1

It was the weekend and the school was on break, so I decided to go and inspect the city of Drintle.
I flew all the way to near the city of Drintru with the magic of flying (fly) to the city of Drintru.
He said it was a two-day carriage ride away, but when we flew, we were there in an hour.
I tried flying while maintaining a height of about 100 meters, but there seemed to be a lot of wagons coming and going from the royal city.
As expected, there is a forest right next to the city where the demons live, so it is probably the case that you can get enough materials.
As expected, you can not just fly straight into the city, we walked towards the gate after getting off nearby.

As for the outer walls, the stones were piled up about three meters high. The gates are set up in three places, east, west and south, the east leads to the royal capital, the west leads to the forest of demons and the south leads to other cities.
I had seen it written in a book that the forest where many demons dwelled was subject to flooding every few decades.
In fact, as for the Gracia territory, the city was surrounded by a five-meter high wall.

Guards stood at the gates, checking the merchants entering the city.

''See, next, what's in the cargo?''
Grain and salt.

After the guards had finished checking the luggage, they signed the papers.

'Okay, you can come in.'

The items brought in one after another were mainly foodstuffs, weapons and armor. And on the wagons going out of town, there were many things that seemed to be demon materials.
It seems that this city has a lot of demon materials delivered from adventurers, after all.
And when it was my turn, it was Cain's turn.

Osi, next. What, an adventurer's boy? Don't you have anything to pack? It's a tough place to be a kid.

I produce my guild card to the guards who asked.

''This was an A-ranked adventurer, I'm sorry. Please come in.

Cain questioned the guards for letting him through without any inspection.

'If it's A-rated, can I go in without inspection?'

''This city is also known as an adventurer's city, so as far as adventurers with a rank of A or higher are concerned, we are not supposed to inspect them.

 The guard replied.

'So if I bring in something forbidden, it's not a problem, then?

...... That's true.

The guard replies with a wry smile.

'All right, well, fine. I'll go inside. Oh, where is the Adventurer's Guild?''

'If you're a guild, you can find it by going straight down this road. There's a crossroads on Main Street and it's there. That ...... guild here is ...... be careful.

'Thank you! It's okay.

I thanked the guards for their polite answers and ducked through the gate. There was a straight road leading to it. The ground has become a state of the earth and not cobblestone pavement like the royal capital, but had no problem with the passage of carriages were wide enough.
Both sides of the road are lined with shops, and here and there the inn was visible.
There was a reasonable amount of traffic and the shops seemed to be thriving.

'That was more normal than I expected, I thought it would be rougher than it was.

Cain looked to his left and right as he made his way through the city. Near the central crossroads, there was an adventurer's guild building that was completely different in size from the other buildings.

'The guild here is as big as the royal capital ....... The population is only one-hundredth the size of the royal capital, but only the size of the guild is the same. ...... If it's in the middle of a city like this, it's going to be a nuisance to carry demons.''

Cain walked straight into the guild. The guild's hall was the same as the royal capital, with the request board on the right, the receptionist lined up in front and the tavern on the left.
As expected, there were only adventurers in the guild, and several parties were discussing with each other while looking at the request board. From one of the ten or so receptionists, I headed to the receptionist, who was empty.
The receptionist was in her twenties and wasn't very friendly. She frowned when she saw Cain, who was only about ten years old.

''Hmm? What is it? Registration? Boy, you can sign up for the guild when you're ten years old, though, and all the adventurers here are at a high level. Why don't you go train a bit more in the country?

'No, no, I'm already registered. I thought I'd just say hello since I'm going to be in town a lot in the future: ......

'Right, well, there's a lot of silver class in here, so you'll have to take care of your life at least as much as your iron boy. My name is Betty. What's your boy's name?

I'm Cain. It's nice to meet you.

Ugh, Cain. Okay. Oui! Somebody please welcome him!

Betty, the receptionist, shouted down the hall.

'Oh, the baptism of a newcomer, ....... It's been a while since I've seen you.'
Poor guy. ......

Some adventurers looked at Cain from a distance, looking at him with pitiful eyes.

''We'll take care of him. Boy, let's go!

It was a party of five people who came out with a voice that looked a little out of character.

''What? What are you doing?!

Cain was surprised by the sudden response.

'It's a welcome mock battle (lynching), of course. Here's a meet and greet.'

Betty, the receptionist, came out of the counter, lighting a cigarette.
A party of five surrounded Cain on either side of her, and she put her hands on either side of Cain and lifted him up.

'Let's go to the training ground then,'

The adventurers, led by Betty, the receptionist, follow.

''Oh! It's been a while since I've seen it. Let's go see it too!

The adventurers drinking in the tavern also moved one by one to the training grounds.
When we passed through a door at the back of the guild hall, we found ourselves in a circular training area several tens of meters long, surrounded by bleachers for some reason. Since this city is mainly for adventurers, it seems to be treated like an arena.
Onlookers were moving to the bleachers with drinks in hand.

''Oops, let's bet on how long that monk can last!
It takes one silver bullet to pass out in two minutes!
I'll have a minute!
I've got five minutes in a big hole!

In the bleachers, they said, a betting game had begun.
Cain was put down in the middle of the training grounds. The five adventurers went to the other side and held up a mock sword with a crushed blade.
One mock sword was handed to Cain as well.

Oops, you're ready. I'll be the judge. If I stop you, it's over. Until then, no matter what happens, you will continue.

Betty signals with a cigarette in her mouth.

''First!''

The adventurers are moving slowly, grinning and smiling dirty.

'You do this on a regular basis ....... This needs to be remedied.'

 Cain sighed.

'Oh, Mr. Betty, if the training grounds here break down, who's going to fix it?

Not bothering with the adventurers holding their swords, Cain spoke to Betty.

'Of course, the building here belongs to the guild, so of course the guild will fix it.

You've taken your word for it, right?

Cain was relieved by Betty's answer. He was worried because when they destroyed the school's training grounds, His Majesty had complained about it because the state paid for it.

'Hey, hey, boy. You can't afford to be so generous, can you?

To the adventurers who were giving him uncomfortable smiles, Cain made a cute smile and said just a few words to them.

''Oh, everyone, please don't die, okay? And of course, everyone in the bleachers.

"Fire Bullet.

In front of Cain's outstretched hand, five pale, flaming fire bullets were floating in front of him.
