42 Episode 41 ~ In the Forest ~

Eventually, after a night in the boss room, we finally stood in front of the magic circle.
Even at night, they don't know where this magic circle is meant to go.
However, now that they know that this labyrinth is not suitable for sword training, there is no reason to continue to stay in this labyrinth.
It's not satisfying to end up at the eighty layers, a place where I don't know if it's good or bad for Kiri or not, but I guess it can't be helped.
I don't know where we're headed, but well, we'll go wherever we can.

Night, who has become the size of a kitten in her transformation, rides on my shoulder, and Amelia holds my hand firmly.
If we get separated, me and Night will know where we are, but Amelia won't.
I'm confident that I'll find Amelia wherever I go, but I'm not going to be too careful.

Are you ready?
I'm ready.
'Always good.'

An excited, bouncy voice from the left and a reluctant voice from the ear.
I'm fine on my own, but having a response at a time like this isn't as bad as you might think.

'Alright, let's go!'

We stepped into the blue glowing magic circle.
The magic circle grew in brilliance, glowing so strongly that I couldn't keep my eyes open.
Reflexively, I close my eyes and my feet lift off the ground and land on the ground somewhere again after a slight floating sensation hits me.
I'm sure it was like this when I was summoned to this world.
The difference is that when I opened my eyes, I was in a building last time, but this time I'm in a forest.

"...where am I?
....?
"Miss Amelia?

I look around for a bit, making sure there's nothing but trees for now, when Amelia suddenly scowls as if she's found something.
The night calls Amelia's name quizzically.
A poker face, or perhaps a blank expression, was unusually upsetting for Amelia, who didn't always change her expression much.
At one point, her eyes are fixed on me.
Following that line of sight, I saw a distinctly large ... or rather, impossibly huge tree through the trees.
The tree is so huge that it almost throws off the sense of perspective, and it is shining thinly, and there is a cloud hanging on the middle of the trunk that hasn't even come out of the leaves yet.
It must be quite far away, but you can't get the whole thing in your field of vision.
It's unimaginably large.
I wondered how many hundreds of millions of years old the tree was.

The night also noticed the tree and frowned as well, though surely for a different reason.
And then he grunts lowly.

''The Sacred Tree...the territory of the elves?
''The Sacred Tree, that tree?
That's it. That is the pride of the elves. It's something to be protected no matter what.

Despite the words, Amelia stares at the tree with an abhorrent look on her face.
I'm going to say something and hold my tongue.
I'm not sure what I wanted to say.
But I'm sure I felt something between the sacred tree and Amelia.

And I pushed Amelia down to the ground.

''!
That was awful.
"A good response, Lord.

The night raises a swallowing voice.
I'm not going to be the only one to have a problem with that.
The arrowhead is slightly wet and I can see that it is coated with poison.
As an assassin, I had read through all the poison illustrated books that were in the royal castle's library and were completely in my head, but I didn't know what kind of poison it was.
It must be a poison made independently by the elven race.

A little later, Amelia notices the poisonous arrows and arrowheads I'm holding in my hand.

It's...
It's a perfect shot at your throat. You're kind of royalty, aren't you? It doesn't look like it.

As I said to ease the air while feeding the arrows into the shadow magic and being wary of my surroundings because of the danger, Amelia looked back at me with empty eyes and smiled.

'I'm a hater. I don't belong here.''

My heart throbbed in my chest when I saw the look on her face.
I felt like I was back to when we had just met all at once, even though I had finally started to smile more recently.
And it's not just my imagination.

"...then your honor isn't going to be hurt if I fight back, is it?

I grinned and took out a small magic stone from where I was storing the darkroom weapon.
After checking its weight, I lightly release it in the direction the arrow flew.
Well, when I say release it, it's just my feeling, and it actually flies quite fast.

A little while later, the sound of the magic stone hitting something and the dull sound of that something falling from the top of the tree kept standing.
I use a combination of presence concealment and assassination skills to get closer to that something.
I asked for a telepathic message about Amelia at night, so that one should be okay.
I pulled out one of the few dark weapons I had available, as the trees were too dense for me to swing my sword.
I creep noiselessly up to the elven man who was trying to escape a short distance away and thrust it at his neck.

''Nah!''
Don't move. You'll be saying goodbye to your neck forever.

I'm sure you'll be able to find a way to get away," he whispered in the ear of the elven man, who was ducking down to escape, and he stopped moving with a snap.
You can't cut off the head of a blade with what you have now, but because of fear, the man didn't have that kind of decision-making ability left in him.
When the man's will to fight was gone, he sent a telepathic message to the night, and a little later, Amelia appeared, guided by the night.
The moment he saw Amelia, he felt the man's killing spirit swell up, although he did not move.
Amelia catches the killing air head on and looks a little sad.

''...Liam Gladiolus.''
''Amelia Rose Quartz. How dare you appear in front of the Sacred Tree again?

Apparently, I knew him.
The man finally puts away the murderous atmosphere he had been aiming at Amelia as I press the anchor to his throat hard.

''Soon Kirika-sama and the rest of the elite elves will be gathered here! You're done with this woman!

At any rate, I stunned the man because he was too loud.
I wouldn't kill him because he might be a hostage.
I didn't remember allowing him to speak in the first place, so I could have killed him.
I frown at the sign of a presence approaching at great speed from quite a distance and look down at the night.

'Night, get big and ride us.
''You're very rough with cats, Lord. ⋯...Well, I suppose it's a matter of life and death for Miss Amelia. This skill is not something that can be used easily.

In spite of his gruffness, night has transformed into a car big enough to pass through the trees and accommodate three people, and bends down.
I pushed the man roughly up on Night's back and straddled him as well.
Then I held out my hand to Amelia, who was still thinking about something.

'What are you doing, let's get away.
'It's impossible to escape from the elves in the woods. They'll catch us one day. Crap?

Amelia shakes her head and I get annoyed and forcefully pick her up.
Amelia lets out a cute scream and clings to my neck.
Even though she's smaller than her true nighttime size, she's still quite tall.
She must have been surprised.
It may not be something you think about at a time like this, but because of the side hug, the closeness is not half as great as it should be.
In other words, all sorts of things are great.

I'm not going to run away. It's hard to swing a sword here, so we'll just move to a bigger place. Amelia, lead the way. You can at least guide yourself and this territory, right?
...but...
Just get me there. As soon as we get to a bigger place, I'll take care of it.

That's what I ordered Amelia to do.
I'm sure you'll be able to find a lot more information on the subject.

I'm not going to be able to get to the bottom of it.
Night.
I know what it is.

I'm sure you'll be able to find out more about this in the future.
I'm sure you'll be able to find out more about this in the future.
Well, this one is all we can do to hold on and support the man.

''Lord Lord, we're going to come out to a bigger place in a little while.''

Yoru said, twitching his nose, about ten minutes after we started running.

"...Oh, okay.

I grip the hilt of the sword on my back a little.

Even if the elves hate Amelia, I'm the only one who stands by her.
