176 . Visit 2

The first day's visit was all done in the town hall.

We made good progress on financial matters, and the guards took a lot of time, so the tour ended up mostly on schedule.

As for the accommodation for the day, we were going to arrange a hot spring hotel in Liberty, but a member of the inspection team told us that the hotel was not available.
We'll take care of our own accommodation. No need to entertain us.
We had been told so beforehand, so we hadn't arranged it from here.

I went to the entrance of the town hall to see off Polunde-san and the other delegates with the three deputy lords, Erdena and Biblina.
''Well, we will be visiting various places tomorrow.
When Polunde-san bowed his head in that way, the other two bowed their heads as well.
''It's our pleasure, and we look forward to working with you tomorrow.
As I bowed my head as I said this, Erdena and Biblina followed me.
In front of us, Porunde and his friends walked towards the street before we saw them off.
We don't know where they are staying, but judging from where they are going, they seem to have reserved an inn along the street.
When Polunde and his friends disappeared among the crowd, we returned to the lord's room.

When I returned to the lord's office, I took out the documents related to the guard station once again.
I'm sure you should have told me earlier that this Gugs guy is not good at paperwork.
Biblina was also mumbling and grumbling and picking up the documents related to the Guards Bureau.
As for the Guard Bureau's documents, there are quite a few sticky notes stuck on them, and I'm under strict orders to make quite a few corrections, so I'm trying to deal with all of them before I forget, but anyway, the amount of paperwork I have to deal with is not half bad.
We have no choice but to do it, so Eldena, Vivalina, and I take out the documents and fix the parts that are pointed out to us.
When the corrections are made, the two of us who are not working on the corrections check the corrected parts and then remove the sticky note.
The three of us were working together to make sure there were no errors or omissions in the corrections, when there was a knock at the door of the room.
Come in.
I said, and Aura walked into the room.
'What's going on?'
When I asked, Aura looked a little confused and
''Well the inspectors from earlier have just returned...''
 He told me so.

I walked quickly to the entrance of the town hall with Erdena and Biblina.
Then, just as Aura had said, Porunde and the rest of the inspection team were standing there.
The main entrance was locked because the town hall had already finished its business, but Aura happened to come to wipe the glass in the front door and noticed the three people standing in front of the door.
'How can I help you? Did you forget something?
When I asked that, Mr. Polunde held out a piece of paper to me with an apologetic expression on his face.
I'm sorry to bother you outside of work hours, but could you tell me where this inn is located? We've all been looking for it, but we just can't seem to find it.
I took the paper and looked it over.
"...Gundarok...?
To me, the name didn't ring a bell.

I'm sure I remembered all the shops that opened in Liberty, but I didn't remember seeing an inn with that name.
I didn't remember hearing of an inn with that name not only in the Liberty area, but also in the Gehmose area.
Erdena is nodding her head beside me.
I'm not sure I've ever heard of such a name in the Gehmoos area.
It's an inn in the frontier city of Batcombe, isn't it? It's privately owned and operated, but it's famous for its excellent food.
Hearing Biblina's words, Mr. Polunde couldn't help but put his hand to his face.

As he said this, Mr. Porunde chuckled.
''It can't be helped. Then I think I'll get an inn in the city at random.''
When I said that, Mr. Porunde and his friends bowed their heads to us and started to leave.
 I stopped them and said
What do you think? If you're coming to Liberty, why don't you stay at the hot spring village? It's a weekday, and there are probably rooms available today.
 I offered.
 Then Mr. Polunde said
''No, but ... but ... if you have the inspection team do that ...''
I was showing some difficulty in saying that.
Mr. Porunde, I'm hungry.
I'm going to look for a place to stay now, and if I can't find one, I'm going to have to bother Mr. Gossage again...
The other two of them ended up saying those words to Mr. Polunde.
Well then, I'll make an exception this time...
After saying this, we finally agreed to head to the hot spring village.

I immediately arranged a temporary stagecoach and accompanied him to the hot spring village.

''No, you don't have to go that far...''
Although Mr. Polunde said so, he had to accompany them just in case there was no possibility of a group of guests arriving in a hurry.

As luck would have it, there was an empty room in the hot spring village.
I left the young elf proprietress in charge and was about to leave the inn.
 Then Polunde-san stopped me.
''With all due respect ... the lord knows the names of all the shops that have opened in the town?''
Yes, they'll be passing around a permit to open a store, so I'll be checking with them.
When I replied, Mr. Porunde nodded several times with a strangely impressed expression on his face.

After that, the young elf proprietress led us into the inn, and after seeing them off, we reentered the stagecoach that we had boarded and returned to the town hall.

I'm sure the young proprietress of the Elf will take care of the stagecoach arrangements, so I'm not worried about that, but just to be sure, I told the boar who was towing the stagecoach to wait at the hot spring village first thing tomorrow morning.

After that, we returned to the town hall's lord's office and finished the paperwork for the guard station until after midnight.

◇ ◇ ◇.

The next morning, the stagecoach arrived at the town hall 10 minutes before the start of the inspection.
It was a good thing that I was paying attention to him, since the person who was pulling him in was the same boar I had asked him to wait for last night.

If you look closely, you can see that Kruller-san, who is waiting behind Polunde-san, is not looking good.
It's probably, but........it looks like she drank heavily last night.
When Polunde got off the carriage, he walked over to me, who had come to meet him, and said
Thank you so much for introducing me to such a wonderful place. With all due respect, I never thought I would find such good food in such a remote area.
He smiled as he said this and held out his right hand.
''No, no, I'm glad you liked it.
I squeezed Polunde's hand back as I said this.
''Yes, I liked it so much I even had an idiot who couldn't get up in the morning...''
Mr. Polunde said, and then glared over his shoulder at Mr. Cruller.
Out of the corner of his eye, Mr. Cruller
I have no reputation to maintain.
He was scratching the back of his head.

The second day of the visit began with such troubles.
