46-Episode 45: A Carefree Trip

'Are we heading southwest? They want us to watch out for sand bandits, and there's been some strange rumors lately. It's about a mysterious mobile city wandering the desert.

Isn't that the home of an undiscovered desert elf?

'No, we've heard of several sightings of uninhabited mobile cities that have been seen moving and sometimes stopping in the desert, with no visible human presence.

The next morning, as I checked out of the inn and headed to the port where I had deposited the sand bandits, I heard such a story from the port staff.
As for the sand bandits, not only does the influence of the Burt Kingdom barely extend west and southwest of Old Town, the location of the oasis is not all known.
The security is not exactly secure, and we were told that sand bandits, similar to pirates, are out there, so we were told to be careful.
Another thing I heard is that there is a mobile city that is uninhabited, but for some reason is still operating.
It's a mobile city, a legacy of an ancient civilization, but this one was populated by desert elves who lived in the desert.
They had the technical ability to repair and re-operate relatively undamaged mobile cities and make them their home.
They live there and occasionally trade with other mobile cities and oases while they live there.
Some of the mobile cities are marked on the map as abandoned and unmoving, and are now used as landmarks for sailors, but what is the meaning of an unmanned mobile city that is still in operation?

'Taro-sama, isn't that a ghost mobile city? If you're talking about ghost ships, I've heard rumors about them too.

Many sand drift ships that travel through the desert are attacked or lost by sand people and sand beasts.
Even children in the Oasis know the rumors of such sand drift ships wandering the desert at night, even though they are unmanned.
However, very few people have actually seen them.
Whether they are real or not is also a questionable story.

Ghost ships are just a superstition.

But, Master Mew.

If there's no one else on board, the ship won't start.

Mew, a wizard, researcher, and engineer, denied the rumors of the ghost ship out of his own rational mind.
Is such a thing physical or scientific? So it's not possible to

What do you think, Mister Taro?

I'm not entirely sure I'd deny it.

I don't think ghosts move ships and mobile cities, because there are no shortage of examples of people mistaking ghosts for other factors that make them move.

'For example, this is a desert, so quicksand is moving them,'

Even though it was caused by natural phenomena, if a ship or mobile city was unmanned and moving, some people might suspect it was the work of ghosts.

'And then there's the work of a sand beast like Mr. Denzi. Maybe it was a parasite on the wreckage of the ship or mobile city.

I've heard that those kinds of unusual sand beasts are only found in dungeons, but that's not absolutely true.
Perhaps there might be an individual like the 'named' one.

'I see. It's not reasonable to deny it all together. But still, as expected of you, Taro-sama.

I just said a few thoughts, and I'm pretty impressed with Miu Miu.
 Is it the age thing?

Anyway, I suppose you won't know the truth until you actually meet him. Taro-dono, shall we go now?

Then we're off!

We were leaving Old Town and setting off for the southwest, where the Kingdom of Burt was even less affected.

''For once, I'm not much use to you. My sword won't be able to reach you against the 'sand monster bird'.

"Now, I'll use the 'ice bomb' to drop the gun. Sand monsters, like most sand beasts, are vulnerable to water and ice. Frau is also in great shape.

'The bow Master Taro bought for me is easy to use.

'Really? I don't get hit very often ... yes, Lalabelle.

I'll take care of it.

That's about as accurate as a Frau's hit rate.

'But don't think Frau has any talent with the bow. I'm sure he'll be passed over before long.

After leaving Old Town, we were hunting flying sand beasts in a series of rocky mountains about three days' boat ride to the southwest.
We had the boat up on the rocks to keep it from being swept away by the quicksand, and that's where we were based as hunters.
In fact, a large scale quicksand was currently occurring in an area about a day's boat ride from this rocky mountain.
A large quicksand is like a storm of quicksand.
When we arrived at this rocky mountain, the merchant who was waiting ahead of us told us not to move because it was dangerous.
So we had to hunt sand beasts to earn money and wait until the great quicksand subsided.

That's how the four of us are hunting, but I'm still the most useless.
Larabell also couldn't reach the flying sand monster bird with her sword, but she's basically a martial arts centurion.
I was using Frau's spare bow and I hadn't hit her at all, so I handed her the bow and she showed her skill as good as Frau's.
Even so, that king would let go of a future candidate for the "Great General".....
I thought that it was a sin for a ruler to be blind to people.

''Frau's good at it too........''

The current Frau's level was already over a hundred, since her leveling companions.......except me......are all cheats.
At this level, the fact that there was no difference in bow skills between Larabell, whose level was over six hundred, means that he would certainly be a master archer who would surpass Larabell in the future?

''Huh? I'm over level three hundred, but........

Basically, unlike a spear that you can stick out, a bow is difficult to use.
I'm sure Frau must be as talented as Nasu Yoichi.

''Fufu.......is this how it is?

'It's still a little early to tell, but you never know when the big quicksand will subside. We'll have to keep it under control in case we move into a longer war.

We're usually very rich, though.

We already have a balance of over 250 billion Eidolcs.
Even if you splurge a little bit or a little bit, it's not something that will disappear that easily.
Lalabelle and the others also didn't make purchases that cost so much money.
When they were princesses and noblewomen, they had clothes and socializing that were appropriate for them, but when they were living in the withered oasis, they already didn't care about those things anymore.
It's also true that I didn't have a lot of material desires to begin with.
I would regularly give the girls clothes, underwear, and accessories that looked good on them, though.
I apologize for my old man's choice, but they are very happy with it, so I'll let it be a good thing for now.

'We'll have a barbecue for dinner to make it less of a burden on Frau.

Thank you, Master Taro.

I'll have to spend it when I earn it.
We set up a barbecue stove on the rocks outside the ship and grill meat, seafood, vegetables, etc., which we had also purchased from online shopping.

Cheers!

I and Lalabelle had beer, Miu couldn't drink at all, and Frau was underage, so we toasted with juice before eating one burnt item after another.

''Taro-dono, this meat is so tender and delicious. In Taro-dono's world, you're raising such delicious meat?''

Larabell was eating the burnt Matsuzaka beef meat with great relish.
Indeed, such frosty meat may not be found in this world.

'The burnt turban and the oysters are delicious too. Drizzled with a bit of gingerbread before eating it, this is great.

The shrimp, a creature with an unusual shape, also tastes like the meat of a sand scorpion's leg, which is delicious. The meat is very rich and tasty.

Scallops and squid are also delicious. These creatures are only found in the Central Sea, right?

'You knew the Frau well, didn't you? Well, a Central Sea product around here is too expensive for me to afford.

Miu Miu was baking and eating mainly seafood, which both Larabell and Frau caught.
In this world, seafood could only be found in the Central Sea.
Due to the distance, it was an object that was rarely palatable in the Bart Kingdom.
And if you were to eat these items in the southwest, they would cost about the same weight in gold.

''The vegetables are delicious too.''

The vegetables in this world are edible.

Vegetables in this world are very close to the original species.
They are not like Japanese vegetables, which have been improved and become easier to eat.
They are usually bitter, hard, and tasteless, and there was no such thing as a certain yummy vegetable in the past, like a certain yummy vegetable.
If you insist on calling the strong eggy taste strong, though, you're not wrong.
Frau, who cooks a lot, was impressed by the deliciousness of the vegetables that could be purchased through 'online shopping'.
That's right, the vegetables that have been bred and taken the time and effort to improve are better.

'And one is a creature who can't finish off a barbecue without grilling some yakisoba.

Taro-sama, I've decided to have a quick seafood yakisoba.

Today I made yakisoba, which I saw in a gourmet manga, and it was very tasty and crispy.
Sometimes I don't need to eat ordinary yakisoba.

For dessert, I'll have a standard ice cream.

It was hot in the desert world, so we often had ice cream for snacks and dessert.
There was no point in forcing myself to eat warm soup powder.

It's hot, and it's often hard to travel, but it's nice to live free like this, with the four of us eating good food.

Yes, I don't know what's coming next, but it's nice to leave behind my status as a nobleman's daughter of the Kingdom of Bart and live free to travel and live.

I'm glad to be out of my home village, too.

'I go to work at the same time every day, and after work I have dinner alone in my apartment and go to bed. It's not dangerous, but it's a monotonous day. Maybe this isn't so bad, but my life now isn't so bad either. I've gotten to know Larabell, Mew and Frau.

It's been a few months since I was summoned to this world, and I've found myself not remembering much of what happened in Japan.
I'm sure I have no longing for Japan.
I met and married Lalabelle and Miu in this world, and I have a sheltering presence called Frau.
I don't know what's going to happen in the future, but let's not think too much about it, and let the four of us do our thing freely.

That's what I've decided to do.
