66-66 "Trial strike"

The Adventurer's Guild is a bustling place.

New requests, information about demons that have appeared in the kingdom, and miscellaneous voices hitting on the beautiful receptionist are flying around.

Wraith and the three of them proceeded through the guild's incessant voices as if they were accustomed to it, and went to the bulletin board on which the requests were posted. Crossing their arms, they look at the paper.

''Hmm, what should we do?''

The reason why the Wraiths came here, of course, was to receive a request. Since we're going out of the royal capital anyway, it was decided that we would accept the request while we were there.

However, the purpose is just a test run, so I don't intend to accept anything that difficult. I don't plan to go out of town.

How about this?

Sylvia pointed her finger at the defeat of the slime in the forest near the royal capital. Since it's a request for a fledgling, the difficulty is not that high and the danger is low.

 It's a reasoned request.

''That's right.''

With Raffy's consent, the three of them went to the receptionist, Amelia, for the request form. Amelia was about to process the request as usual and tilted her head at its contents.

''Slime defeat, is it?''

This is a rare and less challenging request for the S-class adventurers, Raffy and the others. It's like it's been years since they've seen one.

''Yes, there's a few things I want to try today.
You want to try it?
'Mr. Wraith made me a new wand. So that's the test drive.

Sylvia shows a blank white wand with a hint of a smile. I see, Amelia nodded and then glanced at Wraith.

Wraith can't help but react to that meaningful action.

''........What is it?''
No.

Amelia obviously wanted to say something, but she shook her head to the side with a clear expression. Wraith, who was predictable in his content, didn't pursue it either.

''Your request has been accepted and completed. Now, please take care of yourself.''
Thank you.

The Wraiths turned away as a smiling Amelia looked over at them.

''........?''

Just before leaving the Adventurer's Guild.

Suddenly, Raffy looked backwards with a bang. Wraith and Sylvia rolled their eyes at the sudden action.

''What's going on?''
"...no, it's nothing. Maybe it's just my imagination.

Even as she said that, Raffy's expression remained cloudy as she turned to face forward.

 *****

The sun was shining brightly, illuminating even the forest. The trees were lush and thriving, reminding us that the arrival of summer was near.

The sound of cracking branches could be heard as the Wraiths walked through the forest.

''Come to think of it, is there any other opposite s*x that Raffy and Sylvia talk to often besides me?''
What's going on?
No, I just heard from Amelia. I was just curious.
Well, sure you might be right.

There's no one else I can think of in particular when it comes to speaking often, though we do have the obligatory conversation. Sylvia is the same way, shaking her head in agreement.

''It's kind of surprising,''
'Well, there were very few people my age that I could party with in the first place.
'Oh, that's certainly part of it,'

Just because they are far apart in age doesn't mean they can't form a party, but it's still true that they are more comfortable with people their own age.

Besides, in the case of Raffy and Sylvia, their abilities are outstanding, so there is no need to increase the number of party members.

Basically, their life is one of accepting requests and repeating them. There aren't that many opportunities to get to know someone, and that's why we've come to the present.

When Wraith nodded in agreement, we walked out into a slightly open area. There were five slimes there, the purpose of this request.

They are moving their green mucus-like bodies slowly, nipping at the leaves and branches that have fallen. At first glance, they seem harmless, but as they are demons, they attack humans.

I'm sure you'll be able to find a way to make it work for you. They look weak, though.
But only up to a point. If you swing the sword fast enough, you can cut.
It's a gut feeling idea...

When the Wraith swung his sword, no damage would definitely be done first. It's probably because it's Raffy that I can say this.

'Well, this time it's a test of the staff, not the sword. It should have a decent performance there, so let's keep it low.
I understand.

Although the staff is not as powerful as 'magic enhancement', it still improves the power of magic more than enough. If you release magic without adding or subtracting from the beginning, you don't know what will happen.

''Well then, here we go.''

Sylvia readied her wand with a slightly nervous look on her face and inhaled.

 Then she activated her magic.

The one she chose was a rudimentary wind magic.

It's a small wind blade that cuts through the target with a small wind blade. If used by a skilled mage, it could cut at least one demon in half, but even so, one demon was the limit in terms of range.

The wind blade generated from the staff swelled up more and more, and by the time it reached the slime's source, it was large enough to hit all five of them.

Suddenly, the slime tried to avoid the sudden magic in a hurry, but it didn't happen. All five of them were split in half and died out.

The wind blade still didn't let its momentum wane and collided with the trees in the forest. It continued to cut down some of them and finally disappeared.

Unintentional and unintentional consequences of the destruction of the environment.

The Wraiths looked at each other in silence as the trees fell to the ground with a sound, and they looked at each other in silence.

''........Isn't that still a bit too powerful?''
'Well, let's not casually use high firepower magic the forest will disappear.

On the day he used fire magic here, the forest would be engulfed in a sea of fire in the blink of an eye. After all, you must be careful in handling it.

''What do you think, do you still want to do it?''
Well, let's just wait until I finish the job.
Yes, sir.

Saying that, Sylvia approached the slime that had been cut in half and took out the nucleus that existed in her body. By submitting this, it will be a proof of the request's accomplishment.

Wraith also helps and puts the orange nucleus into the linen cloth.

Wraith finished retrieving it and suddenly looked at Raffy. She is staring at the path she came from with a quizzical look on her face.

'What's wrong, Raffy?'
No, I thought I felt ... something ... eyeing me.
Gaze?

Wraith involuntarily looks at Sylvia. Sylvia shakes her head shakily and shows her denial. The Wraith didn't feel anything that looked like a gaze, either.

''Can you still feel it?''
No, he was gone as soon as I turned around.
Or maybe the Adventurer's Guild?

Wraith suddenly remembered that Raffy was looking back at him.

'I thought I was mistaken at the time...'

Even if it was a guild of adventurers with many people, there were only three Wraiths here. They were definitely looking at the Wraiths, or one of the three of them.

''What do we do now?''
The next time I feel eyes on you, I'll follow.
Well, that's a sure thing...

An existence that can escape from Raffy in a simple physical match is valuable. At the very least, those adventurers and others can't even come close.

''With that said, what's the point?
'Maybe you're the one who's after Mr. Wraith's elixir.
Well, that's certainly possible.

With a bitter look on his face, he remembers how he almost stole his bag once. However, I have Raffy and Sylvia now. It's much easier to buy it than to steal it from Lace.

'Well, there's no point in worrying about it. Let's just get the request done for now.
Yes.

The Wraiths repeatedly experimented with their wands to the extent that they didn't destroy the forest, and at the same time proceeded with their requests.

Raffy was always on guard, but she didn't feel their gaze on her again until they eventually left the forest.
