　召喚陣に入る時にコッソリと端末の撮影機能でニーナさんを写してから、強く元の世界の事を念じた。すぐ近くで国王が『救世主様の残りの品は魔術士達が魔力の回復をした後に続けて送ります』と教えてくれた。





そして再び俺の視界が消える……。

　救世主様にこの世界の事を教えていると直ぐに馬車は皇都へと着いた。途中で転移門を何度か潜っての到着だったが、その度に救世主様は興味深そうに観察していた。恐らく、この方が住まれてる神々の世界ではこのような技術はもう使われていないのであろう。城へと続く大通りに入ると国民たちが、大きな歓声を上げていた。

『皇国万歳！ニーナ様万歳！！』

『魔王討伐おめでとう！！』

　私の守りたかった笑顔がそこにあった、これも全て隣に座る救世主様のおかげだ。私がそう考えていると城門の前に国王陛下が膝をついてお待ちになっているのが見えた、陛下ですらそのような姿勢でお待ちする救世主様のお姿を一目見ようと群衆が詰め掛ける。そして陛下の前で馬車が止まった。

「我が国へようこそ、救世主様。私が国王のウルフリック・アクロイドです」

「荒川功樹です、お招き頂きありがとうございます」

　2人が挨拶を交わす……、驚いたのは救世主様だ。この方はあれだけの力を見せ付けながら、決して驕る事無く陛下に対して接している。普通なら『下々の者が気安く話しかけるな！』と怒鳴られても良い筈なのだ、それを対等に接して我々の体裁を守ってくれている、まったく我が国の馬鹿な貴族共も見習って欲しい……。

「先ずは、御礼を述べたいので玉座の間にお越しください。献上品などの御相談は晩餐の時にでも」

　どうやら場所を移すようだ、私も一旦自室に戻り正装のドレスに着替えて玉座の間に急ぐ。




　玉座の間では、武官・文官に及ぶ城勤めの全員が平伏して礼を述べていたが救世主様は浮かない顔をしている、あまり嬉しくないのだろうか？　私がそう思っていると突然お話を始められた。

「皆さん、どうか聞いてください。僕は……」

　その話を聞いて私は愕然とした！　この方は神々の世界で偶然、私達の世界とトンネルを繋げこの世界の惨状を見たようだ。そして周りが止めるのも聞かずに、神器である『リュウシヘンカンキ』を強制的に停止して無理やりこの世界に介入したそうだ。
　なんと慈悲深い方なのだろう……自らを犠牲にしてまで我々を助けてくれたのだ。周りの者はその自己犠牲とあまりの慈悲深さに感動して涙を流している、あの武人の頂点を極めたといわれるアックス卿ですら薄らと涙を浮かべていた……。
　だがやはり、親や友人を残してきたのが心残りのようで『出来るならば帰りたい』と救世主様は言葉にされた。私はそれを聞いて直ぐにある考えが浮びそして思わず叫んだ、

「救世主様がお帰りになれる方法があります！」

　私がその方法を教えると救世主様は初めて笑顔を見せてくれた。その場にいる皆も召喚の儀の行使に賛成してくれ、アックス卿に至っては『国中の魔術士を集めるのだ！』と興奮した様子で退席していった。




　玉座の間での騒動の後、晩餐会は和やかな雰囲気で行われていた。宮廷料理人が腕によりをかけて作った品々を救世主様は美味しそうに召し上がっている……、そんな中で陛下がとんでもない事を言い出した。

「再度の魔物の災害に対応する為に、どうか救世主様の力の一部でもこの世界に残してくれませんか？」

　周りの空気が一瞬で凍りつく、もしこの方がこの願いを不快に感じたら皇国は一晩で灰燼に帰す事になる。陛下は理解しているのだろうか？　チラリと陛下を見ると脂汗を流しながら回答を待っている、どうやら理解の上でお願いを口にしたようだ。

「ならば説明書を付けて重力崩壊弾と僕が使用していたスーツ、それにレーザー銃20丁を残していきます」

　私達の心配を余所に救世主様は、快く了解してくれた。そしてこの世界で私達と共に魔王を討伐した思い出として、何か記念になる品を貰えないかと遠慮しながらお聞きになられた。私達は今すぐに用意できる最高の品を救世主様に渡すことに決めて城中から集めて渡すととても嬉しそうなお顔で何度もお礼を述べて頂けた。



　翌日、救世主様がお帰りになる時が来た。魔術士達が召喚陣に魔力を込めている最中に救世主様が、私に質問があると真面目な顔で声をお掛けになられた。

「最初から勇者を召喚していれば、戦争は早期に終結したのではないですか？」

「もし勇者に魔王を倒す能力がなければ無駄になってしまいます。そのような賭けに使う程、魔術士達の魔力は潤沢ではありません」

　私は、最後に嘘をついた……、そのような話も議題になったのだが『勇者などいるわけがない！』と保守派の貴族達が反対し協力しなかったのだ。これからお帰りになる方に余計な心配をさせたくないという思いで出た言葉だったが、どうやら信じてもらえたようだ。そして魔術士達が用意が出来たことを告げる。


「それでは、さようならニーナさん」

「救世主様、本当にありがとうございました」

　救世主が召喚陣に入り目を閉じる……私の横で陛下が『救世主様の残りの品は魔術士達が魔力の回復をした後に続けて送っておきます』と慌てて付け足した瞬間、救世主様は消えてしまわれた。

「帰られたようだな」

　陛下がポツリと仰られた、何処と無く寂しそうなその視線は召喚陣を眺め続ける……だが、やがて気を取りなおして声を出す。

「さて、残りの品を送った後は国内の問題を片付けなければな。魔王戦争の事後処理もある」

　2年ぶりに活力に溢れたその顔を見ながら、私は『この世界を救った救世主様の銅像も作りましょう』と提案するのだった。





　この後、アクロイド皇国は『魔王討伐の成功』を自信に何度も襲い掛かる魔物達を『救世主の遺産』を使用しながら撃退し続け、決してあきらめる事無く挑み続けた結果……ついに全ての魔物を討伐することに成功する。
　国王の名には必ずミドルネームとして『アラカワ』が使われるようになり、子供達は『伝説の救世主物語』を聞かされながら育つ。そこには、救世主が『偶然』この世界に残していった最良の未来が芽吹いていた。

　また、『救世主の残りの品』を確かに皇国は約束通りに召喚陣から送り出した。だが空間の波を上手く越えることが出来ずに、本来なら2102年に転移する筈が『1915年の世界中』に散らばって転移したのを各国が接収。これを研究した事により『第二次世界大戦』の早期終結に繋がるのは、別のお話……。
